COVID-19 LEARNING SCENARIOSOur COVID-19 task force formed detailed plans to educate our students in the following
three scenarios. Here is an overview of our plans, which are subject to change:
PLAN A: Typical On-Campus Learning with Enhanced Health Precautions
Full, on-campus learning Monday–Friday
New health protocols, procedures, & physical distancing
Employees & students are required to self-screen daily
To start the year, large assemblies will be modified (Encounter, lunch, etc.)
PLAN B: Hybrid On-Campus Operations with Physical Distancing Requirements
This plan will be implemented only if strict physical distancing is needed at all times
To allow for physical distancing in classrooms, the student body will be split into 2 groups
Mondays: off-campus eLearning for all students
“Group 1” students - On campus: Tuesday & Wednesday - Virtual classes: Thursday & Friday
“Group 2” students - Virtual classes: Tuesday & Wednesday - On campus: Thursday & Friday
PLAN C: Full Time Distance Learning
This plan is our least desirable option and will be implemented as a temporary solution in an emergency situation. We would return to Plan A or B as quickly as possible.
eLearning will be implemented for all students
Will implement best practices shaped by eLearning experiences and data from last March–May
Virtual Campus Will Be Offered (See p. 5)
This is our preferred plan & current expectation for the fall.
Virtual Campus Will Be Offered (See p. 5)
VIRTUAL CAMPUS: A CONTINUOUS OPTION
Virtual learning will be offered all year, even when SWCHS is on campus full time. The school recognizes that due to preexisting health conditions or COVID-19 infections and exposure, some students and faculty may face extended absences from our campus during the 2020-21 school year.
The school has purchased equipment for every classroom to provide live access to classes for students required to learn from home due to a variety of reasons (exposure, diagnosis, family quarantine, preexisting conditions, health concerns etc.).
Virtual learning will be provided to students on an as-needed basis during the school year to meet the challenging circumstances of COVID-19.
Families requesting virtual learning to mitigate health concerns will be asked to complete an application. Virtual Campus Applications will be made available on swchs.org/COVID starting in August.
SWCHS has upgraded all classrooms with a camera and microphone giving faculty the ability to provide live instructional opportunities to off-campus students. The upgrades will allow the school to provide live classroom access to students who are unable to attend due to COVID-19 or in the event of Hybrid Learning (Plan B).
To protect our students, content will be made available through school-provided Chromebooks and G Suite secured tools (e.g. Google Meet) or other services researched and purchased by the school. Content will not be publicly accessible.
