Winter Maintenance Cooler weather is here and riding opportunities are less so now is a good time
to take a close look at your ride and give it a thorough T-CLOCK inspection. Very
detailed T-CLOCK forms about what to check can be found online. Also in the
owner’s manual or shop manual can be found lists associated with mileage that
give a rundown of services that need to be performed. If you take your machine to
a shop for service, winter is a good time because the shops are less busy.
Most have heard of a T-CLOCK but have you ever really performed a really
detailed one on your ride? Also if you have a shop work on your bike it is a good
idea to T-CLOCK after getting it back. Are the fittings tight? Did they reattach your
accessories properly? Are the battery terminals or oil filter tight? Don’t rely on the
service tech alone, do your own check. Here are a couple of points to check from a
T-CLOCK form.
T- Tires & Wheels – along with pressure and tread check the brake pads.
C- Controls – have you ever lubed throttle cables and greased the throttle tube?
L- Lights & Electrics – remove battery cables and clean and use dielectric
grease on connections.
O- Oil & Other Fluids – is it time to change anti-freeze or brake and clutch fluid?
Most require replacing every 2 years.
C-Chassis – now may be a good time for that fork upgrade.
S- Stands – trike riders can forget about this one but have you ever lubed the
pivot on the sidestand? Works so much smoother.
So when the weather is frightful pick one item from the list and do a very
thorough check. Whether you repair yourself or make a shop list this will keep you
connected to your trike or motorcycle in the off season and make the coming ON
season much safer and enjoyable.

Frosted Pumpkin Bars Ingredients: Bars:
1 (29 ounce) can solid pack pumpkin
2 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
5 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Frosting:
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a jelly roll pan.
Beat pumpkin, white sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs together in a large mixing bowl. Com-bine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, and salt in a sifter;
sift into the pumpkin mixture and mix well; pour into the prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven until center springs back when lightly touched, 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
Beat cream cheese and butter together in a bowl until smooth; add vanilla extract and beat. Gradually beat confectioners' sugar into the frosting, adding in small amounts and assuring
each batch is incorporated before introducing the next. Spread over the pumpkin bars.

Fun facts about jellied Cranberry Sauce…………..
Massachusetts based Ocean Spray produces about 79 million cans every year and 85% are
sold for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
It takes about 200 cranberries to make one can of jellied cranberry sauce.
Jellied cranberry sauce from a can (the log) is most preferred by consumers accounting for
75% of all cranberry sauce sales.
Cranberry sauce was created in 1812 by boiling the bruised cranberries from the bog.
Because cranberries have a high pectin content, a key ingredient when making jams and jel-
lies, which causes the fruit to “gel”.
Canned cranberry sauce became an American staple for Thanksgiving in 1941.
John Lennon confirmed in an 1980 interview that he repeated the words “cranberry sauce” at
the end of the song “Strawberry Fields Forever”.

Well, it appears that winter is upon us. We are so lucky here in the Low Country of SC to be able to
ride year round. Riding in the winter isn’t without it’s own dangers. Like so many times, the morning
can be warm, and the temperatures drop in the afternoon, or vice versa. Sometimes, even bitter
cold. Be sure to layer and have your cold weather gear with you. Your fingers will love you for it.
Note: If you are new to Chapter ‘G’, or if we've missed your birthday or anniversary, please send an email to Mike Melton at [email protected]. Include your name, birthday (Month/Day, no year needed) and anniversary (also Month/Day no year needed).
