● Improved health for mother, less likely to die in childbirth
● Infant Mortality Rates decrease as marriage age increases
● Planned families are healthier and more well-equipped to
care for children
● Increased economic opportunities for mothers who received
education prior to marriage/childbirth
● Lowers CBR, which is beneficial for dealing with
overpopulation (especially good for India)
Relation to Human Geo Concepts: Child Marriages
● Cultural traditions that make up the mindsets of people are extremely difficult to change with simply outside forces
● Young girls getting married results in less education and a lower status for women, which leads to a higher CBR and more diseases like HIV/AIDS
Affirmative Action
● Castes deemed “backwards” qualify for special status
and guaranteed entry into schools or workforce.
● Lower classes take positions of more-prepared higher
caste members at universities and businesses.
● This is bad. Students are fighting to be considered a
lower class than they actually are.
