DialogueDialogueThis is one of the most

obvious ways in which a radio play tells its story. It is in the words of the actors that the story is largely developed.

The dialogue is written by radio playwrights who also have pictures in mind as they write. They use the words to present ideas and put pictures into the listeners’ minds.

In which mood are the voices expressing themselves?

How loud are they? Are they muffled? This could show they are a long way off or speaking from behind a door.

Are the voices high or low? Male or female? Young or old? Calm or afraid? Pitch will help to tell you.
