(Joh 20:30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples,
which are not written in this book:(Joh 20:31) But these are written,
that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through
his name.
Soul Food
(Joh 4:27-35) And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no
man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that
ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. In the mean
while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one
to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the
will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes,
and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
FOOD
(Mat 4:4) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
(Joh 6:54) Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life;
and I will raise him up at the last day.
(Joh 4:14) But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.
(Psa 119:103) How sweet are thy words unto my
taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
I. Feed your soul with compliance to
his will
(Joh 4:32-34) But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the
disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that
sent me, and to finish his work.
(1Sa 15:22) And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt
offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is
better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the
fat of rams.
A. Staple food of
Witness
(Joh 4:26-31) Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. And upon this
came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her
waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see
a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they
went out of the city, and came unto him. In the mean while his disciples prayed
him, saying, Master, eat.
B. Staple food of Prayer
(Luk 6:12-13)(17-19) And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it
was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;… And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the
company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre
and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they
were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue
out of him, and healed them all.
C. Staple food of the
Word of God
(Mat 4:4) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
(Psa 1:1-3) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in
his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.
D. Staple food of Fasting
(Mat 17:19-21) Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for
verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing
shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not
out but by prayer and fasting.
II. Feed your soul with completion of
his work
(Joh 4:32-34) But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the
disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent
me, and to finish his work.
A. Labor in the grace
of our Lord
(1Co 15:58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
(1Co 15:10) But by the grace of God I am what I am: and
his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but
I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
(Gal 5:16-25) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are
contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness,
revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are
Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit,
let us also walk in the Spirit.
B. Labor in the power
of his might
(2Th 1:11) Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our
God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the
good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with
power:
(Php 4:13) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(Eph 6:10-13) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
