Henri Senders
Henri Senders uses different textures to make an image very unclear. He uses cobwebs over an image to give it an eerie effect. The darkness of the image hide a lot of the girl and her idenEty.
Layering an image over another can give it different textures. The crumbling effect on the girls skin portrays how her deepest secret are being revealed.
RiHy Tacsum
This image shows how the woman is fading in with the wallpaper, remaining hidden from some. Maybe watching life go by and remaining invisible. However, the woman sEll manages to stand out by having a change in colour this only highlights her clothes not her. This conveys how her clothes act like a mask hiding her true idenEty.
riHy-‐tacsum has used different layers to seem as if the woman is fading away in the background. The woman looks very distant and cold in her emoEons; the image of the trees could represent something that is very senEmental and personal to her triggering an emoEon. The very empty colours used give a unseHling mood to the photo. The woman seems as if she is being faded away and invisible, this may be how she wants to appear to the world.
This photo is Etled ‘Carnival in Venice’, suggesEng a moment and place that is very special and has a nostalgic meaning to the photographer. The image is made up of various layers but the eye is sent to the image of the woman who’s idenEty remains a mystery.
The image is unlike may of the other pieces of the photographers work, the background doesnt fade the man in but instead makes him stand out. This indicates how he is different to everyone else and maybe doesnt want to stand out but wants to blend in.
This image is very eerie and dark, making the image stand out. The girl is fading into the background making her unclear. The background seems very overgrown and it is like it is all closing in on her Ell she can not be seem at all. The image has a translucent effect showing how she feels invisible to the memories she once had. It is like the place she once knew has changed over Eme.
When ink is added to water it gives a smokey effect across the water. It stops the water being clear and creeps in on the image. It seem as though the ink is seeping threw the picture as if the image is fading away in the water.
This image is very unclear because the image has been reflected over a broken glass. The crack on the mirror messes up the reflecEon. It suggests she doesn't’t recognize her own reflecEon and has lost direcEon.
Final Outcomes.
EvaluaEon For my coursework brief I chose the out of place brief. My aim was to create a nostalgic effect but also eerie effects. I was influenced by Henri Senders who used different unusual textures to create haunEng effect. His photos are very unseHling as much of the image is not seen by the eye. The texture used such as cobwebs and cracked glass create an aged look. This gives the photo a story that is unknown and makes us curious to what the photo is about. For idea 2 I wanted to create an image that was nostalgic. I wanted the image to give the feel of an important place and memories that was being revisited like a former shadow of themselves. For idea 1 I put make up on the girl and them smeared it. This was to show how the makeup was covering up the grief behind her makeup. I then darkened the levels and curves to create a shadow effect. I used the layering technique to overlay images that suggest destrucEon like broken glass and crackling effect. I think I should have faded and blurred the images to make them harder to see to the eye. I should have used layers with less colour and detail to create a vintage effect. Idea 2 i used the theme of plants and trees as the main structure to the photos. I did them in black and white to make them more bold and more surreal. I over layered the images of trees and plants over the original images to create a nostalgic look. On some I over layered the images of the girl over the image of the landscape to make her fade into the background.
