2010-11 Sonoma State Men's Basketball
Pat Fuscaldo returns for his 17th season as head coach of the Sonoma State University men’s basketball team in 2010-11. In his previous sixteen years at the helm, Fuscaldo has a record of 223-207 overall and 170-140 in league play. In 2007-08, Fuscaldo became the winningest basketball coach in Sonoma State history and he is cur-rently the dean of Men’s Basketball coaches in the CCAA.
In 2005-06, Fuscaldo led the Seawolves to their first ever California Collegiate Athletic Association championship with a 16-4 conference record. For his efforts, Fuscaldo was voted the CCAA Coach of the Year by his peers. The squad also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the previous nine years. Individually, the ‘05-’06 Seawolves featured an All-American, two All-West Region players, four All-Conference stars, and the CCAA Player of the Year.
Before arriving at Sonoma State, Fuscaldo was the head coach at the College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur) in Belmont. There, he turned a struggling program into a Northern California Athletic Conference playoff team in just three years. The Argonauts won just six games in his first season, but increased their victory total to ten the following year and 14 the next to earn a NCAC playoff berth and give Fuscaldo strong consideration for conference Coach of the Year honors.
Prior to joining the staff at Notre Dame, Fuscaldo was an assistant coach at Skyline College, serving two stints, 1985-86 and then 1987-91. While there, Skyline reached the California State Final Eight in 1990 and 1991, won Coast Conference championships in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and posted a cumulative record of 105-23.
Fuscaldo was an assistant coach at the University of San Francisco in 1986-87, and he has also coached at San Jose State and San Francisco State, where he received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education/Sports Psychology-Administration. He received his B.A. in Physical Education from San Francisco State in 1983.
As a player, Fuscaldo was a two-year performer for Eastern Connecticut State College in Willimantic, Connecticut. He attended St. Thomas Moore Preparatory School in Colchester and Greenwich High School in Greenwich. Pat is married to former Stanford All-American and ABL player Molly Gooden-bour, now the head women’s basketball coach at UC Irvine.
