We welcome back our returning campers and look forward to making the camp experience enjoyable for first-time campers. Our camps allow children to explore their unique talents and interests, while teaching values and lessons that will last throughout their lives. Our flexible schedule allows you to sign your children up for one week or all ten weeks of camp.

Our traditional and specialty day camps are committed to providing a quality summer experience for your child and are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), which sets the highest standards for day camps in the nation.

StAFF Camp counselors receive extensive pre-camp training, focusing on safety, developing youth, improving healthy living for all and fostering social responsibility. Senior staff is CPR and First Aid certified.

ABout our CAMpS With over 60 different camp options to choose from, your children will be able find a camp that’s right for them. Our camps are organized by age, and designed around interests such as arts, science or sports, with age-appropriate activities. Regardless of which one you choose, all of our camps reinforce the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

loCAtionS & HourS Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Somerville. Our planned activities are based on available facilities and outdoor space at each location. Please tell us about your child so we can guide you to the most appropriate location and program.

Camp day hours are 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Pre- and post-camp care is available from 7 a.m. and/or until 6:30 p.m.

tripS Your child can sign up for a weekly trip. We recommend advance registration to ensure timely communication and to reserve your child’s spot. Field trips are offered as an option at the Hillsborough and Somerville branches. Bridgewater camps are all inclusive and all campers will join the planned trips unless you keep your child home on trip days.

vacation Camp (Grade 1 – 7)A pre-camp week before the summer camps start after schools let out, June 19, 20, and 21.

traditional day Camp (Grade 1 – 7)Outdoor activities include: Archery, Basketball, Arts & Crafts, Team-building, Volleyball, Rocket Launch, Frisbee Golf, Orienteering, Sports, Swimming lessons, Free Swim, Creek Stomping, Environmental Studies, and more.

Babysitting training (Grades 5 to 7)American Red Cross training that provides youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children.

junior lifeguard (Grades 5 to 7)This program is designed to guide adolescents ages 11–14 to the Red Cross Lifeguarding course. Builds a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards, including development of swimming skills and endurance, basic first aid and water rescue skills.

teen travel (Grade 6 – 8)An exciting traveling camp for those who enjoy day long adventures. A school bus will transport children daily to locations such as beaches, amusement parks, baseball games, rock climbing, paint ball, laser tag, and more. New this year: we are offering 8 weekly sessions. This camp teaches teens group leadership skills, social and cultural awareness, and community service.

Bricks 4 kidz (Grade 1 – 6)Camper will build 2 models a day using Bricks 4 Kidz model plans and Project Kits. The day will begin with free play, challenges and a model build, followed by games, challenges and free play, with access to bins of LEGO bricks. Each camper will get to build and take home a LEGO mini figure. Each week will be different themes.

Scuba Camp (ages 11 to 16)Become a PADI certified SCUBA diver. The camp will mix required academics with fun facts from SCUBA professionals at Underwater Adventures Dive Center. Required water skills will be blended with games to assist young divers in developing better finning technique and airway control. Three days will be spent in Bridgewater YMCA and two days at Dutch Springs completing required skills for certification. This package includes snorkel, mask, fins, boots, books, DVD, 2 days at Dutch Springs, and certification. Participants must be comfortable swimming, floating and treading in deep water.

BridGewAter FAMilY YMCA CAMp viHo

Camp VIHO offers a 13 acre park-like setting that gives campers an engaging, outdoor traditional-style summer camp experience. VIHO is an American Native Indian term for “Chief” which is used as the basis for all camp activities Positive leadership skills are taught, encouraged and recognized at weekly assemblies. Enjoy a variety of courts, courses, creeks and activities that allow for outdoor exploration. Camp VIHO also offers swim lessons and recreational swim at our indoor pool.

traditional day Camp (Grades 1 to 7)A traditional outdoor camp provides an array of activities to keep campers engaged and entertained. Campers will participate in daily arts and crafts, team building activities, and traditional and nontraditional sports. Swim lessons are included, along with open swim time, and the option to attend the camp trip each Wednesday.

Youth leaders (Grades 8 to 10)Campers will learn leadership skills and have the opportunity to experience personal growth while working with younger campers in a supportive setting under the direction of mentors. Training includes leadership and communication skills, problem-solving and program planning. There will be free swim time and a trip option.

Sports Galore (Grades 2 to 7)Designed for active campers who simply cannot get enough sports and activity time, this program keeps campers moving all day long. Campers will develop self-confidence through age appropriate sports and activities that foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development. Campers have the option of participating in supervised free swim each afternoon as well as a trip each Wednesday.

enriCHMent CAMpSAnimal AdventuresFuture vets (Grades 3 to 6)Designed to explore and strengthen a camper’s curiosity about animals. Focus on pets and zoo animals.

Snakes and Scales (Grades 1 to 3)Learn about reptiles from their habitats to their bodies, and what makes them unique.

dino Camp (Grades 1 to 3)Explore the prehistoric era through multi-medias while enjoying fun activities like making our own fossils.

ArtSdance (Grades 1-3) Beginner (Grades 2-4) intermediate (Grades 3 to 7) AdvancedLearn ballet, jazz, hip hop and more while gaining confidence in dance skills. Emphasis will be placed on child-friendly routines and choreography.

drama Camp (Grades 2 to 7) For all those actors and actresses out there! Campers will spend two weeks creating, planning, and performing all aspects of a dramatic play.

MAde (Grades 2 to 6)A Blend of Music, Art, and Dance to allow for interpersonal Expression.

All About Art (Grades 1 to 3 & Grades 4 to 7)Painting, drawing, sculpting and sketching. Learn about different mediums in a way that will stretch the imagination.

All About Art Advanced (Grades 1 to 3 & Grades 4 to 7)Build upon knowledge and skills learned in All About Art camp. This program will work on more advanced projects.

Craft Camp (Grades 3 to 7)If it’s creative, it’s part of craft camp. From paper mache, weaving, tye-dying, and beading, our craft camp is a guaranteed blast!

Sculpting (Grades 2 to 6)Create statues, sculptures, and pottery. Let your imagination run wild.

Fashion and jewelry Camp (Grades 3 to 7)This two-week session provides the opportunity to sketch designs, accessorize. Design jewelry, tie-dye, and create a portfolio.

digital Arts and Crafts (Grades 2 to 6)Use your own imagination and technology to create multiple artistic creations and craft projects to take home.

pure paint (Grades 2 to 5)Learn skills and get creative with the most popular medium, just paint.

photography (Grades 4 to 7)Tell a story through the pictures you take. Learn digital photo techniques.

video production (Grades 3 to 7)This two week camp will teach campers to work as a team, planning, creating, and starring in mini–movies.

Model Making(Grades 2-6)Create, build and take home different models of cars, planes and more.

Summer Traditions Always Remembered is the theme for Camp STAR. Campers will be able to explore nature, discover new talents, create lasting friendships, gain independence, and most of all have fun while engaging in new activities they will become passionate about. Campers will shine like stars and be recognized for such while developing self-confidence and group pride through participation in camp wide activities like Themed Thursdays. Whether you are an artist, athlete, scientist, or performer there is a spot for you to shine bright at Camp STAR.

MAtH And SCienCe CAMpSFuture engineers (Grades 2 to 6)Learn from an engineer’s perspective about building everything from rockets to bridges.

robotics A (Grades 2 to 6)Explore the amazing world of robotic through the hands-on challenge of designing, building and programming robots using the Lego Robotics program.

robotics B (Grades 2 to 6)Experienced programmers can join us for another week of Lego Robotics. Build robots, learn programming and more. A previous enrollment in Lego Mania I is required.

Young einsteins (Grades 2 to 5) Learn about time, space, mass and more!!! Explore these concepts through fun activities and experiments.

Myth testers Camp (Grades 4 to 7)This camp is all about busting myths! Campers will prove legends right or wrong by testing their theories.

Fantastic Forensics (Grades 3 to 7) Learn to solve a mystery like a detective, sifting through clues, learning to read invisible ink and lifting fingerprints. Use science to become a super sleuth!

ooey Gooey Camp (Grades 1 to 4)Create and experiment using everything from Gak to slime.

Mathletes (Grades 4 to 7) Keep those math skills sharp over the summer! A fun, educational curriculum will keep campers thinking and entertained.

otHer Fun CAMpSGame Show Showcase (Grades 2 to 5) Join this fun camp where campers get to compete in their favorite game show games.

Culinary Creations Camp (Grades 3 to 7)Learn about nutrition, recipes, and techniques in the kitchen, with a healthy serving of fun. No need for snacks, this camp will offer a chance to create and try a new food every day.

Survival Camp (Grades 2 to 6)Gives participants a wide variety of knowledge from how to make a shelter using what’s around you, to knots, and everything in between.

treasure Hunt (Grades 1 to 4) Calling all explorers! Campers will join us on a Pirate-themed week where each day will start with a new hunt for treasure.

Green thumbs up! (Grades 2-5) Come learn about nature, gardening and how to grow food.

wonders of wizardry (Grades 3 to 7)Harry Potter fans unite! Campers will participate in Harry Potter-themed activities, from reading selected passages to creating alternate endings, and of course plenty of Quidditch!

world Cultures Camp (Grades 3 to 7)Travel the world without ever leaving the YMCA! Campers will take a journey to a different part of the world each day in order to learn about various cultures, traditions, and cuisines.

Mock trial (Grades 4 to 7)Develop knowledge of the NJ judicial system. Be a part of our mock judicial system and participate as lawyers, clerks, judges and jury.

SportS CAMpSSoccer (jv Grades 1 to 3 & varsity Grades 4 to 7)Gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of soccer. Learn team-building and technical skills in a fun and non-competitive environment.

Baseball (Grades 2 to 4)Through practice, drills, scrimmages, and activities, campers will strengthen skills and knowledge of America’s favorite pastime. Please bring your own mitt.

Going for the Gold (Grades 2 to 6)Aspiring Olympians will earn gold medals as they learn the rules and skills of various Olympic-style sports. Gymnastics, swimming, track and more.

Golf Academy (jv Grades 1 to 3 & varsity Grades 4 to 7)Participants will hone in on the mentality and skills that it takes to be successful on the fairway to the green. For both first-timers and those who have a basic understanding of the sport.

taekwondo (Grades 2 to 6)Learn the basics of taekwondo, from stances and form to speed and agility.

Splash (Grades 2 to 4)Perfect for kids who can’t get enough of the water. Campers will work on swimming skills, water safety and play fun pool games.

Softball (jv Grades 1 to 3 & varsity Grades 4 to 7) Through practice games, activities, skills and drills, campers will work on strengthening their skills and knowledge.

Bowling (Grades 1 to 7)Improve bowling techniques by traveling to a local bowling alley to play games. Afternoons will include traditional camp activities.

Basketball(jv Grades 1 to 3varsity Grades 4-7)Campers can slam dunk into basketball with the organization that invented the game, the Y! Learn the skills and fundamentals to be successful.

water Games (Grades 3 to 7)Get ready to be wet! This camp focuses on sports in the aquatic environment. It promotes camaraderie and teamwork, as well as teaches physical health.

lacrosse (Grades 1 to 4)Designed for beginners, learn the basics of lacrosse including passing, shooting, and cradling through drills and fun games. Age appropriate sticks and balls will be provided.

Flag Football (Grades 2 to 4)Break out the pigskin just in time for football season to begin! Campers will learn football skills and participate in games each day. No tackling, just a whole lot of fun!

volleyball (Grades 3 to 7)Learn to bump, set, and spike in this program designed for both beginners and campers with some volleyball experience. Master the game that is both sport and recreational activity.

Cheer Camp (Grades 2 to 6) Gain confidence, discover skills and learn different aspects of cheerleading, including cheers, stunts, and dance.

Cheer dance (Grades 2-6)Learn the latest cheer moves to the newest songs. A fun, high-energy camp that will keep campers moving to the beat.

Camp Yaguna offers an indoor pool, access to outdoor sports fields and playgrounds, spacious classrooms, and a gymnasium providing an engaging summer experience through a variety of diverse enrichment, sports, and traditional-style camps. At Camp Yaguna, our focus is creating a warm, caring place where children can enjoy fun-filled days of outdoor exploration, games, activities and team-building experiences. Campers will be recognized for their curiosity, creativity and love of outdoor summer play at Yaguna.

Super Snack Camp (Grades 1 to 6)Crunchy, salty, tasty! This camp will have your child snacking smart and still loving the inventiveness of creating cool but healthier snacks.

world Cultures Camp (Grades 3 to 7)Travel the world without ever leaving the YMCA! Campers will take a journey to a different part of the world each day in order to learn about various cultures, traditions, and cuisines.

SportS SpeCiAltieSdance/tumbling (Grades 1 to 6)Learn the techniques of ballet, jazz and hip-hop and mix them in with stunts and tumbling. Taught by our Somerset Valley YMCA gymnastics coaches.

It is understood that all campers will be treated as individuals and respect will be shown for differences in tastes, preferences, abilities and range of behavior patterns. The Y reserves the right to dismiss a child from camp whose needs we are not able to meet, who is a danger to themselves or others, or whose conduct is not in the best interest of the camp, without refund. Current MeMBerSHip And A $60 depoSit per week Are required upon reGiStrAtion – Deposits are applied to the total camp bill. Registration requires a $60 non-refundable deposit per week, per child to be credited toward balance due. Refund policy: Deposits are non-transferrable. Refunds will be offered based on the following schedule: Full refund if cancellation is received by March 1 (including $60 weekly deposit and trip option fee). Refund of camp fee less $60 deposit and trip fee if cancellation is received by May 20. Refund of half the camp fee less the $60 deposit and trip fee if cancellation is received by June 10. no refund after June 10. medical refunds will be considered in case of illness or injury lasting more than five days and will require a doctor’s verification, anything less than that will be considered on a case by case basis. Weekly camp fees (not including pre, or post camp) will increase by $10 after June 10, and trip fees will increase by $5. CAMp poliCieS & proCedureS – I will review and reinforce the camper conduct and camp policies expressed in the SVY Camp Parent Handbook with my child prior to the start of camp. Campers and families not following the conduct policy may be suspended or expelled from camp with no refund. everY CHild deServeS to Go to CAMpFinancial Assistance is available for membership, programs, child care, camp, services and facility usage. The Somerset Valley YMCA raises funds locally through its annual Strong Kids Campaign. Applications for assistance are available at our Welcome Centers, our website or by mail.

MeMBerSHip privileGeSWhen you join the Y, you are joining an organization committed to strengthening the foundations of community. Membership is required for your child’s duration at camp. A Basic Camp Membership is available for $40 per camper for the entire summer season.

Ask us about memberships that allow your child to learn, grown and thrive with the Y all year long. We offer, swim lessons, team sports, healthy learning and school-age and child development care.
