outside. Frowning once again, he started !noc!ing on the door, yelling loudly, 95ello: +s

    anybody there: -an someone open this door:;

5e realied there was something strangely...unnatural about the building. 5e couldn&t hear

anything. "here there was usually the bustle of people, tal!ing and unrestrained laughter in the

hallways, there was now...silence. 5is mind $uic!ly reeling through se#eral different possibilities,he landed on one possibility1 That there was a shooter in the building, and they had either

gathered e#eryone in one room, or e#eryone was hiding in their separate rooms or ha#e

possibly already been e#acuated. /itting his mind on that situation, he pulled out his phone and

$uic!ly tried to pull up the local news for his uni#ersity. (ll he found was that neither the wifi,

mobile data, nor regular cell reception was running.

(fter arranging all the intact bodies in rows and co#ering them up with whate#er he could find

around the room. 5e closed his eyes and said a $uic! prayer, hoping they find peace in the

afterlife. Truth be told, Daniel didn8t really !now why he did this> he wasn8t e#en religious. ?ut he

felt compelled to. (nd to his surprise, he was rewarded for it. ( notification popped up in front of

    him.

9*hhh:; he said aloud in utter confusion.

    New title achieved: Exorcist!

For being one of the first fi#e people to remo#e the spiritsfrom the bodies of the departed, a new title has been awarded.

?onuses1@ AB e%tra damage to the undead

@ A2B Fear resistance against undead@ -an more easily send spirits to the afterlife

Due to player status loc!, bonuses are una#ailable.

5is mouth once again went agape at this notification. 5is brain went into o#erdri#e, $uic!ly

    analying what this meant.

First, due to the notification itself, and the mention of the world player, it was highly li!ely that

the world had become some sort of #ideo game li!e thing. 5e had a fair amount of e%perience

with #ideo games, and it seemed li!e that might be the case. "hat that had actually meant

though, he was unsure of. "as his body in the real world, and his mind here: "as this actually

the real world: "hat happens if + die here:

*nfortunately, those $uestions couldn&t be answered at the moment. 5e had no way of !nowing,

and no desire to e%periment at the cost of his life.

/econd, the notification mentioned a player status loc!. "as this restriction on e#erybody, or

ust him: (nd if so, how could he get rid of it: *nfortunately, those $uestions couldn&t be

    answered at the moment either.

Third, how did he unloc! the title: 5e had prayed for the corpses, but he didn8t remember

    seeing any spirits.

*nbe!nownst to him, a few spirits had floated up and out of some of the bodies while his eyes

were closed in prayer. The simple act of the sincere prayer and care for the bodies was enough

for some of the spirits to find rest.

+n any case, it was getting more and more clear that the immediate area was dangerous and

that he didn8t ha#e anywhere near enough information to analye the situation. (ll he could

swing his own weapon at the goblin. *nable to bloc! in time, the goblin too! a hefty blow to its

side as it yelped in pain.

Not wanting to let it get its bearing, Daniel swung once more, hoo!ing it behind the !nee and

causing it to fall on its bac!. ?efore it could get up, Daniel immediately started raining blows on

its legs in hopes of crippling it before it could get up.

(t this point, the sha!ing had already stopped, although in the heat of battle, he was unaware of

    it.

+ts legs bro!en, it was crying out in pain as it #ainly made attempts to swing its club at him. 5e

pitied it a bit, seeing as it too, was scared to die. ?ut he wasn8t the type to show mercy. 5e

stepped on its right arm, effecti#ely pinning down the club, and swung down the table leg

repeatedly at its head. 5e wasn8t sure if the first swing would !ill it, and if he paused to chec!

after the first, he felt li!e he might throw up. 5e had !illed animals before when he was hunting,

but it&s a completely different story when you8re !illing with your hands.

(fter he felt he had swung enough, he stopped to ta!e a loo! at his handiwor!. +ts face was

ca#ed in, and its legs were bent at aw!ward angles. 5e grimaced, as the scene before him was

not a pretty sight. 4lancing at the table leg in his hand, he tossed it to the side, as it was now

    bent beyond repair.

( ding rung in his head as se#eral blue notification windows suddenly appeared before him.

Congratulations on your first kill! Player status unlocked!

Daniel mo#ed o#er to the wall, resting against it as he too! in the screens. 5is arms were aching

from swinging the table leg so hard, his body unused to the motion. 5e would ha#e to train more

in the future to pre#ent this from happening.

5e figured he had unloc!ed the player status from !illing the goblin. 5e willed away the

notification windows before calling 9/tatus; in his mind.

(lthough he had an idea of what it would do, he wanted to confirm what his new s!ill did.

Focusing on it, a new window popped up.

Iep, ust as he thought. +t seems li!e it would allow him to chec! an item&s stats, and probably

chec! an enemy8s health as well.

Ta!ing a loo! at the club the goblin had and tried to use +dentify on it. Nothing happened, so he

figured that it must be because it was too far. 5e decided it would be a good time to chec! its

wasn&t until it was within grabbing distance that the s!ill finally wor!ed.

(lthough he felt that the range was way too limited, he was pretty sure it would increase as his

s!ill&s le#el increased. The notification window before said that this was a rare s!ill, so e#en

though this ability was usually a standard in most games, that probably wasn&t the case here.

"renching the club out of the goblin&s hand, Daniel too! a loo! bac! at where he came from.

/ome time during the battle, the bird had left. 5e was sure that it was still in the area though,

    watching.

For now, he would lie low and try to stay hidden, ta!ing the opportunity to a#oid fights when he

could. (lthough he wasn8t inured in the fight, he was pretty sure he wouldn8t be able to handle

more than goblin at a time.

7oo!ing at the corpse, he decided he would try to identify it as well.

it was defeated by an amateur.+ts s!in is tough and coarse.

"ell, he didn8t really e%pect much from it. (nyways, he had to get mo#ing. +t hadn&t been long

since he wo!e up, but it would start to get dar! fairly soon, and he didn8t want to get caught

outside of his dorm at night. 5e didn8t !now what the night might bring, but it was sure to be

    dangerous.

/hoes and soc!s off, he set off mo#ing down the hallways, darting from room to room, a#oiding

goblin patrols along the way. This building was the general classroom building, and it was a lot

cleaner than the building he had wo!en up in, the humanities building. There was a lot of bro!en

glass from mirrors, ust as many bodies in the classrooms, but not too much debris. "hate#er

had wrec!ed the other building hadn8t don8t the same here.

=ust as he duc!ed into another classroom to a#oid an incoming goblin patrol, he heard a ghastly

wail. 5e flinched for a second, before realiing it was someone screaming. The noise wascoming from ust a few halls down.

+f he was to go and help, he had to go $uic!ly. ?ut he hesitated, unsure if he could ta!e the ris!.

The goblins were sure to hone in on the sound, and the person might already be dead by the

    time he got there.

5e $uic!ly weighed the cost and benefits, and decided he would at least chec! out the situation.

+f he could help, he would, but if the ris! was too high he would bac! off. Quic!ly putting on his

shoes, he raced down the halls, the screams getting louder and more distressed.

Turning a corner, Daniel made it ust in time to see a guy get his head smashed by the wooden

club of a goblin. There were at least 2 goblins surrounding him, and there was no way he

would be able to deal with that. 5e hoped the guy would at least get a swift, painless death, but

that thought was $uic!ly thrown to the side as the goblins surrounded him. Daniel winced as he

saw blood and guts flying, the goblins competing for a piece of the body.

?ac!ing off from the scene, he consoled himself by thin!ing that e#en if he made it in time, there

was no way that he would ha#e been able to help. There were too many goblins, and not

    enough him.

Ta!ing off his shoes, he set bac! down the hallways, towards his dorm. 5e had only seen twopatrols on the way, guessing that the rest were bac! there, preoccupied.

Ca!ing his way to the front door, he loo!ed outside the building and saw the giant bird in the

distance. Than!fully, it was faced away from him, heading towards the nearby mountains.

Nonetheless, he sprinted towards the nearby building, the cafeteria, since there were still

monsters around. Not that he !new what other monsters there were besides the goblins, who

seemed to be content with staying indoors, but still.

  • 8/16/2019 Some Story Idk

    10/19

5e mo#ed through the cafeteria, hoping there were some people here, but unfortunately, there

weren8t. +n fact, there wasn8t anything here. *nli!e the other buildings, this one seemed

completely untouched. There weren8t any bodies, debris, or anything out of the ordinary.

The hairs on his bac! stood up, the building seeming more and more creepy by the second. Theshutters to the food stops were down, but the doors to all three dining areas were completely

open. 5e had a bad feeling about mo#ing through the building normally, so as $uic!ly and

silently as he could, he went towards the bac! of the cafeteria where the garden was.

(s he was about to open the door to the garden, he heard the sound of something dripping

behind him, and a soft, girlish giggling. 5e slammed into the door, which was than!fully open,

and turned around once he was out of immediate reach of the door. ?ut as e%pected, he didn8t

    see anything.

Daniel wasn8t sure how he felt about not seeing what was being him. For now, he had the

garden to na#igate. +f what he had seen so far was anything to go by, this area was sure to be

dangerous as well. 5e figured there8d be plant or insect'li!e creatures, and he was right.

The area was filled with huge creatures and plants. 4iant, colorful flowers were abundant

across the garden. +n the distance, there was a gigantic praying mantis feasting on half of a

caterpillar. 5e could also see #arious beetles and other insects roaming the area, and other than

the praying mantis and caterpillar, they all seemed to be getting along. Daniel felt li!e the

garden had been filled with o%ygen, allowing the flora and fauna to supersie.

From what he could remember, the tiny #ersions of these bugs were harmless. ?ut seeing as

they were now well o#er L feet tall and could probably eat him, it probably wasn&t a good idea toassume that was still the case.

Daniel suddenly heard burrowing ne%t to him and umped bac!, holding the club at the ready.

Dirt was rapidly flung up as a gigantic...pillbug came out of the ground. (lthough it seemed a bit

laughable, he still held up his club ust in case. +t wouldn8t be funny if it had suddenly de#eloped

    carni#orous tendencies and attac!ed him.

Than!fully, it ust loo!ed at Daniel before crawling away. 7oo!ing at the carapace on its bac!, he

briefly considered !illing it and turning its shell into armor, but he decided he had higher

    priorities.

(lthough he was still tense and wary of his surroundings, he felt the atmosphere was still so

much better than that of the cafeteria and other buildings. )specially the cafeteria. +n fact, it was

e%tremely calming. 5e !ind of felt a bit li!e laying down in the grass and ta!ing a short nap.

(s he wal!ed through the garden, the feeling of wanting to nap grew progressi#ely stronger.

7ogically, he !new this ob#iously wasn8t the time or place for it, and he was trying to stay

/econd, food, water, hygiene. 5e would ha#e to figure out how to handle bathroom needs, as

away from him. "al!ing down the steps, he too! the pellet rifle off his bac! and double'chec!edthat it had a pellet in it.

(t the bottom of the steps, Daniel too! a $uic! loo! around, chec!ing for any more goblins. Not

seeing any in sight, he held his rifle up, eyeing down a goblin in the sights. 5e could8#e sworn

he saw little hairs on the bac!s of their heads, and wondered if that was the effect of the

Perception bonus or ust his rifle scope. 5e would need to test how much the stat bonuses

    affected him.

(lthough it was a bit dangerous, as he could notify and unseen dangers of his e%istence and

base, he thought he could afford the ris!. 5e wanted to see how well the rifle did against a

goblin, as well as test how well they could hear his rifle when he used subsonic pellets.

Flic!ing off the safety, he held the rifle up, his right inde% finger ust touching the trigger. (s soon

as he felt he was ready, he s$ueeed the trigger. Bang! ( notification window had popped up in

    front of him.

    Critical 4it!

(lthough it didn8t notify him how much damage that did, he still grinned, and willed the window

away in time to see a goblin slump o#er, dead on the floor. The second goblin howled, outraged

that its comrade died. +t turned around, immediately see!ing out and finding Daniel. 5e wasn8t

too surprised, as he wasn8t testing to see if that goblin had heard the sound, but if others did.

The goblin rushed at him, dirty loincloth fluttering between its legs. Daniel udged he didn8t ha#e

time to reload another pellet and set his gun down against the staircase railing. 5is torso started

sha!ing, as if his heart was cold and needed warming. This happened a lot whene#er he first

started playing a new shooter, but he would e#entually get o#er it. +t wasn8t a problem when he

was shooting at people, ust when he couldn8t see anybody or was about to shoot someone.Pulling out his tanto !nife and crowbar, he also rushed to meet the goblin head on. 5e bloc!ed

the goblin&s first swing with his crowbar and decided to !ic! out at it.

5owe#er, he misudged the distance, missing the !ic!. (s he stepped down, the goblin grinned

at him and headbutt him, !noc!ing Daniel bac!. 5e managed to stay on his feet and almost

chec!ed out his status, but decided against it. ( momentary distraction could pro#e fatal.

The goblin howled again, its screeching #oice piercing Daniel8s ears. /tepping forward, it swung

its club down, and Daniel managed to sweep the club to the side. /tepping in, Daniel stabbed

his !nife into the goblin, aiming for its nec!, but missed and hit its shoulder. ?efore he could

dislodge it, the goblin swung out with his club, hitting him on the arm. /ince Daniel was so

close, it didn8t do too much damage to him, but his arm was probably bruised.

5e bac!ed off, pulling out one of his throwing !ni#es. The goblin loo!ed at its shoulder, but

doesn8t ta!e the !nife out, instead opting to flare its nostrils and gi#e out an angry cry. +t rushed

him once more, but this time Daniel threw the !nife at its face.

5e was hoping the blade would lodge itself in its eyes, but he wasn8t particularly s!illed with the

weapon. (s e%pected, the !nife harmlessly bounced off its face, the handle ust glancing off its

forehead before clattering to the floor. 5owe#er, it did cause the goblin to stop mid'rush and

    close its eyes.

Not wanting to waste the opportunity, Daniel bashed the crowbar at the goblin&s hand, causing it

to cry in pain and drop its club. 5e then !ic!ed the club away and then stepped forward, turning

around and performing a spinning bac! !ic! on it. (lthough his techni$ue was sloppy, it did the

ob and !noc!ed it on its bac!, !noc!ing the wind out of it. Pulling out a second throwing !nife,

he closed in on the goblin, !neeling on its chest and swiftly stabbed it in the throat.

5e sighed, slightly tired from the fight. 5e returned all his !ni#es to their proper places before

scanning his surroundings. 5e was luc!y, as this fight didn8t attract any others to the area. 5e

had almost forgotten about the gigantic bird as well and immediately chec!ed the s!ies as well,

but saw nothing. 5e was luc!y, e%tremely luc!y, and careless. (lthough this mista!e was fine

right now, it could get him !illed in the future.

Co#ing bac! to the staircase, he pic!ed up his pellet rifle again, ta!ing the time to load another

pellet in it. +f it didn8t wor!, he was planning on bottlenec!ing the goblins at the staircase. /ince it

did in fact wor!, he mo#ed out only to impro#e his combat e%perience. 5e didn8t ha#e enough,

as clearly demonstrated by his bruised arm and aching head.
