Slide 2 Some Significant Objectives To fight for all people with autism wherever they live and in all circumstances. To create an environment in which national, regional and local associations and individuals can operate most effectively. To be proactive in agendas for research which is of practical value and services and systems that really help our people. To encourage and foster societies that are welcoming to people with ASCs Slide 3 The Transfer of the Baton of Responsibility Originally professionals only Currently Parents, Families (toughened by some professionals) Will be people with ASCs (and families and professionals). Slide 4 Role of Politicians A Politicians main aim is to Look Good ..and we can help him (or her). 1) They need to understand the problem. 2) They need to know the solutions to the problems. This is where we help. 3) They need to know how much it will cost Include everything. 4) Agenda should belong to us. Parents, carers and people with ASCs Slide 5 Some Current initiatives (2011-12) Involvement of those with ASCs in decision processes Formal affiliation with the United Nations Develop international interest groups (Schools; adults) Continue to hold and endorse conferences and events Exploit internet for real time participation in meetings, conferences support for global family Develop a constitution to ensure global involvement Initiatives on rights; standards and inspections; response to increasing demands and shrinking finances. Slide 6 + Autism Works; TAG team; Evaluation of all we do; Involvement of Students (Madrid) Slide 7 Adult Services Group inaugural meeting incorporating:- Interested professionals and parents from North America and other parts of the world studying provision in two centres. One day conference at Stadium of Light looking at novel approaches to adults with ASCs. 40 to cover room hire and food. Speakers for various parts of US of A., Mexico, South Africa, Denmark, Ireland, Kuwait and UK. Establishment of international group to identify appropriate inspection criteria and systems. General Assembly and Election of Council of Administration of World Autism Organisation.
