Hospice Memorial Ride Set for July 27

SOMC’s annual Hospice Memorial Ride will take place at noon on July 27. Riders will depart from SOMC Hospice, located on the hospital’s East Campus.

The event, which was created in memory of motorcycle enthusiast and hospice patient Ricky Bryan, is an important fundraiser for SOMC’s Hospice Caritas Fund.

“The Hospice Memorial Ride is an opportunity for those who have been touched by SOMC Hospice to show their support, as well as to recognize their loved ones who received end-of-life care at the facility,” Coordinator of Hospice Relations Ann Luther said.

The Hospice Caritas Fund has a direct impact on hospice patients and their families by ensuring those coping with a life-limiting illness receive comfort, support and care when hope for a cure is no longer possible.

Those interested in supporting SOMC Hospice can also make direct donations through the SOMC Development Foundation. To do so, visit www.somc.org/development or contact Mary Arnzen at 740-356-2504.

Hospice Memorial Ride T-shirt Scavenger Hunt The Hospice Memorial Ride is quickly approaching, and with the recent T-shirt sale being such a success, you now have an opportunity to get one of the few T-shirts left for FREE!

The scavenger hunt will include four T-shirts hidden around the main hospital on Monday, July 22. Stay tuned for clues which will be posted on the SOMC Facebook page on the day of the hunt!

After much research and careful consideration, Southern Ohio Medical Center is excited to announce the process of implementing a new Electronic Health Record, MEDITECH Expanse.

MEDITECH Expanse will be replacing various stand-alone softwares with an enterprise-wide solution. This will allow for an efficient, single use system designed for usability, mobility, flexibility, speed and integration, as the company states.

Teams are already in place preparing for the go-live date, which is set for August 2020. As of now, the hospital is on-target to reach this goal. SOMC is currently in the

planning and design portion of the implementation process, and employees will be notified throughout the entire project.

Leaders want to express gratitude towards staff and key leaders who are playing such a significant role in the process of maintaining our past systems. Moving forward, the support of staff in finding a better way is truly appreciated and key to the success of the implementation of the new system.

Please see below for the timeline of events and what is to come as we look forward to the process!

Behind the Scenes of SOMC’s Commercials

Have you ever wondered what it looks like behind the scenes of an SOMC commerical? Now is your chance to see! Some may not realize the amount of time, equipment and people needed to produce a 30-second spot for a commercial.

A production company spent the week around the hospital and community working with SOMC

employees to produce multiple commercials that will air in the upcoming months. You are sure to see some familiar faces as the stars!

If you would like to see some of the past commercials for SOMC, please visit the hospital’s YouTube page at:

Check out SOMC’s Online Store of Surplus Equipment

Our online auction process has been overhauled and improved with our new SOMC uBuy application. Users can log-in to the system to view items, see the minimum price and highest bid on each available item and place bids all in the same place. The principle is the same, but users can stay better informed by seeing the dollar amount of the current high bid on an item (only the amount shows and not the name of the bidder). We will still post new items on Fridays. Items will go up at 10a.m. on Friday and will be removed at 9:59a.m. the following Friday. All other processes will remain the same.

Check out the online store by visiting the following link:http://somcintranet/Public/Policies/MaterialsManagement/OnLineStoreOfSurplusEquipment.html
