kick drum; highest tom can be replaced with high, unpitched drum of player's choice)
5 cymbals - with toms: splash, 2 China (or equivalent quick-decay, colorful cymbals), crash; with marimba: sizzle cymbal)
movement 1: marimba, sus. sizzle cymbal, djembe, hi-hat movement 2: vibraphone, concert bass drum
movement 3: concert bass drum, tom-toms, 4 cymbals, djembe, hi-hat
(pedal throughout; pedal may be depressed with a weight if desired)
