Grouping Objects
Solids, Liquids and gases
• An object is a thing that we can see or touch.
•We learn about objects by sorting them into groups.
•We group objects by :
Size Shape
Color Weight
• Solids have their own shape.
• Solids take up space and have a certain size.
• They don’t change their shape, when we move them from place to place.
The blocks are solids.
• Liquids adopt the shape of their container.
• Liquids take up space and have a certain size.
You can see the red
liquid in four different
containers.
• Gases adopt the shape of their containers. They don’t have a shape of their own.
• Gases can change their size and shape depending on the container.
This bouncy castle is filled
with air.
• It is made of gases
• It is all around us.
• We cannot see it.
• It has no color.
