MES

SAGE

Dear Prospective Traveler,

One of the ways we’ve been able to give back to our communities is through our Solid Gold Club, and especially our bank travel program. In 2015, we have a full offering of great trips to fulfill all types of interests, and I hope you’ll consider joining us on a day trip or an overnight excursion once you’ve browsed all of the year’s destinations.

Convenience is one of the primary benefits of traveling with WB&T, and by taking care of all planning and transportation, we ensure that you can relax and get the most enjoyment from each place we visit.

This year, we’ve applied that same concept to our pre-travel preparations by adding a new online reservation system. If you’re an Internet user, you can visit wilsonbank.com/travel to learn all about each trip and even book your seat from the comfort of your own home. Of course, you can still find the same personal assistance at the bank as well, if you have questions or prefer to interact face-to-face.

However your reservations are made, we think you’ll be thrilled with the sites you see, the friends you make, and the memories you create when you travel with Solid Gold. We look forward to seeing you on one of our upcoming trips.

Sincerely,

Randall Clemons CEO

INFO

TOUR PACING

Some of our travel experiences are more strenuous or physically demanding than others. To help you decide which opportunities are most appropriate for you, we’ve added an activity level for each trip, as described below.

LEVEL 1 (Leisurely): A very leisurely pace with minimal physical activity, which might consist of climbing some stairs, boarding a motor coach, and/or walking to and from activities.

LEVEL 2 (Average Physical Activity): Recommended only if you’re in good health and able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground.

LEVEL 3 (Moderate Physical Activity): Involves longer periods of average activity; could include walking tours, walking longer distances, using stairs, and/or walking on uneven surfaces.

LEVEL 4 (Extended Physical Activity): Participants should be able to endure longer walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and periods of standing. Some tours may be longer and could take place later in the evening.

LEVEL 5 (Very Active): Participants should be physically fit to fully enjoy all activities. The itinerary may include more strenuous activities, as well as other factors like high altitudes, early morning departures, late night activities, uneven or dusty terrain, and/or extreme temperatures. Tours in this category are likely not appropriate for individuals who use either walkers or wheelchairs.

Please note that the same conditions may not apply to every activity on an overnight trip, so please read the itinerary carefully and speak to one of our coordinators if you need more information. If a particular trip is not suited for you, a Solid Gold coordinator can help you select one that is.

DEPARTURE LOCATIONS

Departure points may vary according to the number of guests leaving from a certain area and may include locations in Davidson, DeKalb, Rutherford, Sumner, Smith, and/or Trousdale counties in addition to the Wilson County departure points in Lebanon and Mt. Juliet.

TOUR GUIDE COMPANY

We use Sonshine Tours, Inc., owned and operated by Jimmy and Geanie Smith, to conduct our overnight and day trips.

WORSHIP & DEVOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

Each day we have a non-denominational devotion and prayer on the motor coach, usually while in transit. Prayers are also said at some meals.

TRIP PLANNING FOR OVERNIGHT TRIPS

For cruises and longer trips, a planning meeting will be scheduled ahead of time to review important information such as airfare, hotel info, excursions, etc. For shorter trips, a packet of information will be mailed out two to three weeks before departure that contains luggage tags and information such as specific departure locations and times, daily itineraries, hotel/motel contact numbers, and suggestions for items to pack.

LUGGAGE

Due to limited motor coach capacity, each passenger is limited to one large, sturdy bag (not to exceed 50 lbs.). Luggage will be stored in the luggage bay of the coach. A small (overnight) bag can be carried by the passenger and stored in either the overhead bins or the luggage bay of the coach. Valuables, important documents, and medications should be carried in your overnight bag, purse, or on your person. For trips that involve flying, luggage limitations may vary according to the specifications of the air carrier. Wilson Bank & Trust is not responsible for additional fees imposed by air carriers regarding baggage.

MOTOR COACH

All the motor coaches we use are operated by experienced drivers. The 54-seat coaches are fully equipped with air-conditioning; a toilet/washroom; video screens; overhead reading lights; clean, comfortable seating with arm and footrests; overhead bins for small carry-on bags; and tinted panoramic viewing windows. Depending on participation, some shorter trips may require the use of a smaller passenger bus/van without an on-board restroom.

INFO SEATING ON THE MOTOR COACH

On day trips, we have open seating on the motor coach. On all overnight trips, daily rotation of seating provides you with a variety of views and an opportunity to meet different people along the way. We reserve the first two seats for the tour director and bank guide. Please let us know at the time of sign-up if you need disability seating. Individuals who pay a single price will share a seat with another passenger when the motor coach is filled.

COACH COURTESIES

Punctuality is extremely important when traveling with a group. Each person must be seated before the coach can proceed. We request that you remain seated during city driving for your personal safety. Our motor coaches are equipped with toilets. These are typically for emergency use, as we have frequent stops allowing you the opportunity to use public restrooms and/or to stretch your legs.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE

Please report any disability that requires special attention at the time the reservation is made. Wilson Bank & Trust will make every effort to meet the special needs of a disabled traveler but is not responsible for any failure to do so. We regret that our motor coaches are not equipped with wheelchair ramps. We strongly recommend that individuals requiring assistance be accompanied by a physically able companion who will assume responsibility for your well- being. Some of our accommodations do not have elevators. If you need a first floor room, please let us know at time of reservation.

BOOKING AIRFARE

Due to increased travel security, it is important that the name on your airline ticket matches your name exactly the way it appears on your driver’s license or passport. When you are booking a trip with us, please be sure to give us this information, so we can avoid delays at the airport. Additionally, any changes to your air booking (including those caused by spelling discrepancies) could result in a change fee, penalties, or cancellation for which the bank is not responsible.

ITEMS NOT COVERED IN THE TOUR PRICE

Gratuity to the Tour Director Gratuity is appreciated but should be extended on an individual basis, not as a group. The amount is always at your discretion.

Personal Expenses Costs you’ll need to cover on your own may include room service, telephone calls, and all other items of a personal nature. Also falling into this category are any additional expenses incurred due to flight delay or cancellation, weather conditions, political closures, technical faults, etc.

Personal Conduct For the benefit of everyone on your trip, Wilson Bank & Trust Community Financial Centers reserves the right to accept or reject any participant and to remove any participant whose conduct is deemed incompatible with the interests of the other participants. No payments or incurred expenses will be refunded in the event that your vacation arrangements are terminated due to unacceptable behavior.

Smoking In accordance with the law, no smoking is allowed on the coach. We have picture stops, restroom breaks, and lunch stops that allow opportunities for smoking. Many hotels in North America have imposed a 100% nonsmoking policy, and many cities have imposed non-smoking regulations in public areas. As a standard rule, we reserve non-smoking rooms. If you require a smoking room, please request it upon making your reservations, but we cannot guarantee availability.

Trip Cancellation Policy If cancellation is necessary, every effort will be made to provide either a partial refund or a full refund. If a trip is cancelled fewer than two weeks before departure, no refund will be issued unless we have a waiting list. If we have a waiting list, we will do all we can to fill your space and provide a refund. Waiting lists are always available, so be sure to add your name to any trip(s) that interest you. You may get a call to join us!

Tour Cancellation & Interruption Insurance If your vacation must be put on hold before departure due to sickness or a family emergency, cancellation and interruption insurance can come in handy. For most trips, if you elect to get the insurance, you must call the insurance company within 21 days upon paying your deposit in order for any pre-existing medical condition to be covered. If you would like to purchase the insurance more than 21 days after your deposit is paid, pre-existing medical conditions will not be covered. Please note that cancellation insurance may be included on some trips, and if so, this will be indicated in the trip description.

This juried festival, designed to offer entertaining local and regional talent, traditionally attracts more than 25,000 spectators. Participating artisans and craftsmen are required to meet certain criteria, and all applications are reviewed by a committee to ensure that all items are handmade. More than 160 crafters and merchants line the streets and fill the parking lots of the festival area, some demonstrating arts like wheel-thrown pottery, crocheting, and wood-working. Many of the crafters provide samples as well.

Another highlight is the festival’s food court, featuring culinary delights from around the globe with such taste-tempting items as gyros, stir-fry, bloomin’ onions, and spiral spuds, plus down-home favorites like ice cream, fudge, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and snow cones. Visitors also are drawn to the Iris Festival’s varied entertainment and dance lineups.

An annual woodcarving show held each year in conjunction with the festival attracts noted woodcarvers from across the Southeast. The talented craftsmen not only show and sell their wares, but also compete for prizes.

North America’s only freshwater pearl-culturing facility is located just a short drive away in Camden. Tennessee’s official state gem, the freshwater pearl, is a remarkable, iridescent product that emerges from the indigenous Washboard mussel, although it’s rarely produced naturally. The gemstone- culturing operation is nestled along the pristine Birdsong Creek.

The three-day Homecoming is one of the nation’s largest and most authentic music and folk festivals. Each day, musicians perform on five stages, filling the air with traditional mountain, folk, bluegrass, Gospel, and old-time country tunes. The weekend also includes demonstrations of pioneer skills, a large craft fair with authentic Appalachian artisans, and traditional Southern foods.

DAY 1 & 2 (Saturday & Sunday) Flight to Copenhagen, Denmark A PASSPORT IS REQUIRED for this trip. Our flight takes us from Nashville to Copenhagen. We’ll touch down on July 5 at the Copenhagen Airport Kastrup, and our group coach will transport us to our hotel. We’ll spend two nights at the Hilton Copenhagen Towers in this beautiful city, with time to explore and acclimate to the time change.

DAY 3 (Monday) Copenhagen, Denmark After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll meet our local guide for a seven-hour sightseeing tour of Copenhagen on a private coach. Copenhagen was founded in the 12th century, and the city owes much of its charm to the buildings, erected by Denmark’s monarchs, which feature some of the most delightful architecture in Northern Europe. Called the Venice of the North, Copenhagen was founded on a series of islands and islets, and it is laced with graceful canals. During the tour, we’ll see the Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palace (seat of the Danish Parliament); the fabled statue of Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid; and the old harbor of Nyhavn, lined with cafés, restaurants, and 500-year-old gabled houses. We’ll also visit the 1633 Rosenborg castle, built of red brick and decorated with sandstone, which houses cultural treasures like the crown jewels and the Danish Crown regalia.

Leaving Copenhagen, we’ll pass through rural villages and wooded, undulating countryside to reach Hillerød, where we’ll visit Frederiksborg Castle, one of the beautifully situated Renaissance buildings constructed at the order of King Christian IV. Frederiksborg is now home to the Museum of National History where priceless paintings, silver and porcelain items, furniture, and tapestries are on display.

Next, on the way to Helsingør, we’ll stop for a photo opportunity at Fredensborg Palace, the spring and autumn residence of the Danish Queen. Finally, we’ll return to Copenhagen along the coastal road, passing through small villages, fashionable resorts, and some exclusive residential areas. B

DAY 4 (Tuesday) Copenhagen, Denmark After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll travel by private coach to the Copenhagen port, board the brand new ship Regal Princess, and set sail on the Baltic Sea. B, L, D

DAY 5 (Wednesday) Oslo, Norway Forest-clad slopes plummet to an island-studded fjord in Oslo, Scandinavia’s oldest capital city. The commercial center of Norway, Oslo has been a major trading port for more than a millennium. Its harbor is crowded with seacraft ranging from cruise ships to shrimp boats. Though relatively modest in population, Oslo is one of the largest capital cities in the world in area. The hills and lakes of its outlying countryside are a paradise for winter sports, and the city itself boasts a sophisticated yet cozy charm, with a blend of 19th- and 20th-century buildings and wide avenues dotted with public squares and parks. B, L, D

DAY 6 (Thursday) Aarhus, Denmark It’s easy to assume that Aarhus stands in Copenhagen’s shadow, as it is the second largest city in Denmark and its university is both the country’s second oldest and second largest. Yet Aarhus boasts singular virtues and charms. Despite a relatively modern cityscape, Aarhus is the oldest city in Scandinavia, mentioned in Icelandic sagas and chronicles. Excavated glass pearls and rune fragments date the city to centuries before its official founding in 770. Aarhus also boasts a lively cultural scene and is rich in parks and green areas. Located on Jutland’s east coast, Aarhus is surrounded by dense forests and provides easy access to Denmark’s scenic Lake District west of the city. It’s also home to the Queen’s summer residence, beautifully set in a forest overlooking the sea.

Originally constructed in the 12th century, Aarhus’s Domkirke is one of the great cathedrals in Scandinavia. Its immense copper spire stands over 300 feet high, making it the second tallest bell tower in Northern Europe. B, L, D

DAY 7 (Friday) Berlin (Warnemünde), Germany Berlin is a worthy rival to London or Paris in terms of history, art, and culture. The city’s highlights include the restored Reichstag Building with its magnifi-cent glass dome and the stunning Pergamon Museum.

Warnemünde is a seaside resort near the harbor entrance to Rostock, one of the city-states that formed the medieval Hanseatic League. Originally a fishing village, Warnemünde is a gateway to Mecklenburg and the German countryside. During our visit, we can explore the old Cold War hot spots and view the magnificent Brandenburg Gate, or stroll along the Kurfurstendamm and take coffee in a local café. B, L, D

DAY 8 (Saturday) At Sea

DAY 9 (Sunday) Tallinn, Estonia Like Latvia and Lithuania, the Baltic Republic of Estonia has survived a turbulent history, having been conquered and ruled by the likes of Teutonic Knights, Polish princes, and Russian tsars. Estonia was a pawn in the Soviet empire for 51 years until the burgeoning freedom movement led to independence for the Baltic Republics in 1991. Like its sister republics, Estonia maintained its ties to the Western tradition, retaining the Latin alphabet and Catholic and Protestant faiths. Tallinn is the political, commercial, and cultural center of Estonia. B, L, D

DAY 10 & 11 (Monday–Tuesday) St. Petersburg, Russia St. Petersburg has provided a historic stage since the day Peter the Great ordained its construction on the banks of the Neva. In its relatively short history — the city is younger than New York — St. Petersburg has witnessed the rise and fall of Imperial Russia, three shattering revolutions, and civil war. During World War II, St. Petersburg became a symbol of Russian resistance to the Nazi invasion.

Russia’s “Window on the West” remains one of the world’s most beautiful metropolises. Two great architects, Rastrelli and Carlo Rossi, helped bring Peter the Great’s vision of St. Petersburg to life, making the city one of the architectural treasures of the world. St. Petersburg has also been the cultural soul of Russia, a repository of priceless art and a home to poets, musicians, and composers from Pushkin to Shostakovich. B, L, D

DAY 12 (Wednesday) Helsinki, Finland Perhaps their country’s harsh climate encouraged the Finns’ love and respect for design and the arts. Whatever the cause, there’s no denying that Helsinki is one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in Scandinavia. Hailed as the “Daughter of the Baltic,” Finland’s capital is a city of graceful neoclassical buildings, striking modern architecture, and spacious boulevards dotted with squares and parks. Much of the city’s architecture dates from the period of Tsarist rule between 1809 and 1917. In the past century, Finland has nurtured some of the major creative talents of Western culture, from the composer Sibelius to architects Eliel and Eero Saarinen and Alvar Aalto. Helsinki is home to some 616,000 people. B, L, D

DAY 13 (Thursday) Stockholm (Nynashamn), Sweden The small rocky harbor of Nynashamn is the gateway port to Stockholm, the “Capital of Scandinavia.” The city began life over seven centuries ago as a Viking stronghold built on the island of Gamla stan. Today, Stockholm covers 14 separate islands and is interwoven with bays, channels, and inlets. The city skyline is a sea of copper roofs grown green with patina. Towers, spires, and graceful cupolas stand sentinel over the historic city of nearly a million people. Stockholm is one of the world’s most beautiful, clean, and orderly metropolises. B, L, D

DAY 1 (Sunday) New York City A PASSPORT IS REQUIRED for this trip. We will fly from Nashville to New York City and board the Caribbean Princess in time for a 7 p.m. departure. D

DAY 2 (Monday) Newport, Rhode Island In the 19th century, Newport was America’s Versailles, a place where great merchant princes and robber barons erected elaborate Summer- houses they dubbed “cottages.” At the height of its splendor, Newport was a giddy whirl of grand fêtes, yacht races, and elaborate beach picnics for assorted Vanderbilts, Astors, and Morgans. Today, travelers marvel at the splendor of great mansions like The Breakers, The Elms, and Rosecliff. B, L, D

DAY 3 (Tuesday) Boston, Massachusetts Hailed as the “Cradle of American Independence” and the “Athens of America,” Boston was America’s first great city and is filled with historic sites. Today this city of 800,000 combines historic districts with revitalized urban centers and remains faithful to its venerable roots. We’ll follow the Freedom Trail along three of our nation’s most historic miles, see the site of the Boston Tea Party, trace the route of Paul Revere’s famous ride, and stand on the bridge where Minutemen fired “the shot heard ‘round the world.” In the old Charleston Navy Yard, we’ll see the USS Constitution, the nation’s oldest commissioned warship. B, L, D

DAY 4 (Wednesday) Portland, Maine Portland was founded by the British in 1632 as a fishing and trading post. The city went by two other names, Casco and then Falmouth, before receiving its current moniker in 1786. The essence of the area remains unchanged as a vibrant fishing and commercial port, Maine’s largest city, and its cultural, social, and economic center.

Portland and the surrounding area have something for everyone. Photographers delight at sites like the Portland Head Lighthouse and the picturesque White Mountains. Shoppers enjoy the unique boutiques, shops, galleries, and restaurants in the Old Port and downtown area. Outdoor enthusiasts love to visit the world-renowned outdoor outfitter L.L. DAY 5 (Thursday) Saint John, New Brunswick – for the Bay of Fundy Saint John, Canada’s oldest settlement, is the gateway to unspoiled scenic wonders of New Brunswick, including vast forests, purling streams, gentle hills, rich farmlands, and a spectacular coastline dotted by historic towns. The area is also home to one of nature’s most astonishing phenomena, as the fierce tides of the Bay of Fundy rise with such force that they cause the St. John River to reverse its direction. Saint John’s history dates to 1604, and its original charm has been restored in recent years by the redevelopment of the waterfront and the old district. In between, the city was affected greatly by a catastrophic fire in 1877 and then decades of declining commerce and neglect. B, L, D

DAY 6 (Friday) Halifax, Nova Scotia The capital of Nova Scotia and the largest city in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, Halifax was once Great Britain’s major military bastion in North America. The beautifully restored waterfront buildings of Halifax’s Historic Properties recall the city’s centuries-old maritime heritage. Halifax is also the gateway to Nova Scotia’s stunning scenery, including famous Peggy’s Cove, where surf-pounded granite cliffs and a solitary lighthouse create an unsurpassed scene of rugged natural beauty. B, L, D

DAY 7 (Saturday) Sydney, Nova Scotia Cape Breton is a magical travel destination, and the Port of Sydney is the gateway. Sydney is known for its beauty and unique Celtic music and culture. Some of the Island’s greatest sights and attractions will be close at hand when we disembark at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion.

The pavilion is a short drive from the area where Alexander Graham Bell lived, worked, and studied. On the east coast of Cape Breton lies the largest historic reconstruction in North America, the Fortress of Louisbourg. It’s a Williamsburg-style attraction that is not to be missed. B, L, D

DAY 8 (Sunday) Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province in terms of area and population, but it’s also an unforgettable place because of the friendliness of its people, its natural beauty, and its reputation as the birthplace of Canada. The island’s dramatic landscape features rolling hills, pristine forests, sandy beaches, ocean coves, and the area’s famed red soil. The capital city, Charlotte-town, offers a relaxed, small-town atmosphere with a cosmopolitan flair. B, L, D

We’ll also visit the Place Royale, the turreted Château de Frontenac, and Notre Dame des Victoires, the oldest stone church in North America.
