I am delighted to present our new product catalogue 2011/2012.

The demand for an energy switch is becoming increasingly important, not only due to the recent events in Japan. For this reason, it must remain our objective to expand renewab-le energies and therefore create a real alternative to fossil fuels and nuclear power. With an investment in photovoltaics, you are not only investing in climate protection, but also making a safe cash investment.

As a wholesaler and system provider, SOLEOS has assumed the task to sell solar power plants nationally and abroad. In doing so, our focus is on the sale of complete, aligned photovoltaic systems that consist of solar modules, inverters, installation systems and suitable accessories.

I particularly wish to point out our new products to you. To respond to market conditions in an optimum way, we have added solar modules in black, the SOLEOS Black-Line, the Integreos roof integration system and three-phase inverters to our range.

But we are also your contact for the use of independent off-grid systems for remote are-as. As a systems specialist, we assume both the planning of the solar power plant and the technical advice. When assembling the components, our aim is to offer you the right pro-ducts at the right time and right price. We are therefore at your side as a reliable partner.

I wish you a successful and sunny year!I hope you enjoy reading our product catalogue.

With sunny regards

David MabilleManaging Director/CEO

As a photovoltaic system specialist, SOLEOS Solar GmbHsupplies solar modules, inverters, assembly systems andaccessories.

The experts at SOLEOS develop, plan and configure solarpower systems, working together with a network of dealers and installers during project implementation.

SOLEOS’ many years’ experience in the photovoltaic market and the technical expertise of our employees ena-ble us to develop tailor-made solutions for different ap-plications. Comprehensive one-to-one consultancy with SOLEOS experts enables the optimised design of photovol-taic systems. During this process, the company cooperates with reputable partners and relies on innovative products to guarantee its customers premium quality and first-class service.

SOLEOS offers a large selection of synchronised products for both integrated grid-connected systems and for appli-cations in the off-grid sector. The company also has its own family of modules. The SOLEOS-LINE (185 Wp to 300 Wp) features a rigid frame and increased snow loading, as well as German technology. Besides mono and polycrystalline modules, amorphous and microamorphous thin film modu-les are an integral part of our product portfolio.

The service life and reliability of inverters are key. This is why SOLEOS trusts Kaco new energy products. Kaco of-fers a broad range of inverters for every type of photo-voltaic installation, rated from 1.6 kW to more than 1 MW. In addition, KACO provides an optional guarantee of up to 25 years, or maintenance service, on the entire inverter portfolio.

The product portfolio is complemented by assembly sys-tems for flat-roof, on-roof, in-roof and outdoor systems as well as custom solutions.

As of the beginning of 2010, SOLEOS Solar GmbH is also a member of PV CYCLE. The PV CYCLE initiative was founded in July 2007 by companies working in the photovoltaic industry as a European oriented association to set up a voluntary return and recycling program for photovoltaic modules. We operate in an industry which is also synonymous with sustainability. In order to live up to this claim, we want to provide our customers with the opportunity to return and recycle old SOLEOS-LINE modules.

Our SOLEOS-LINE includes SOLEOS Black 185-8MM, SOLEOS 190-8MM, SOLEOS 250-2MS, SOLEOS Black 250-2MS as well as SOLEOS 300-8MM. The SOLEOS-LINE is manufactured under the most strin-gent quality requirements. The modules feature a low po-wer tolerance. This low value is the direct consequence of the optimum processing of excellent cells and prevents

mismatch losses in the PV system. The degree of efficiency ranges from 13.2% to 15.2% and the modules can withstand a snow load up to 5400 Pascal. The increased snow load is an indication of the resilience of the modules to external environmental factors. These modules are hence ideal for snowy areas.

RECEuropean product technology

Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) makes solar power acces-sible and affordable by using the strengths in the entire photovoltaic value added chain. REC is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of silicon materials, PV wavers, so-lar cells and modules, and is active in selected markets in solar system integration. REC has been active in the solar sector since 1996 and has become one of the world’s leading companies in the meantime.

REC has low carbon emissions, as the entire silicon production and a large part of wafer and cell proces-sing is conducted with water pow-er. Studies, amongst others by the University of Utrecht, have shown that the amortisation period of REC solar power systems with crystalli-ne, silicon-based solar modules is lower than that of all other systems examined.

NexPower is one of the most innovative companies in the PV market in the manufacture of thin layer mod- ules. This Taiwanese company is a subsidiary of one of the world‘s leading semiconductor producers, UMC. Nex- Pow-er has large, state-of-the-art production facilities for thin layer modules.

Amorphous and micro-amorphous modules offer ben-efits over crystalline modules - both on hot summer days and on days with poor weather in diffuse irradiation. The

excellent part load process means high yields are possible even for suboptimal roof areas.

The micro-amorphous technology offers a further ben-efit - the dual structure enables a broader light spectrum to be used, meaning higher yields for the same surface area.

We provide black clamp holders colour-matched to the NexPower design.

New! Transformerless string invertersPowador 3200 — 4400 — 5300 — 5500 — 6600

The successors of our Powador 2500xi to Powador 5000xi transfor-merless single-phase inverters are equipped with digital controllers so that they can be used interna-tionally. The appropriate country settings can easily be selected on-site; the country-specific settings are stored in the software, so the inverters can be quickly installed in any country. Users can also choo-se a menu language regardless of the selected country setting. We have changed the product names in line with this improvement. The maximum PV generator power for which the particular unit is opti-mised can now be read from the designation.

All units from the Powador 3200 to the Powador 6600 operate with a full bridge without a step-up con-verter. Four IGBT power switches reproduce the sine-shaped voltage

curve of the public power grid em-ploying pulse width modulation. These are true single-stage, self-commutated units. However, the input voltage must be greater than the peak line voltage for them to be used. The units are equipped with a wide MPP range of 350 V to 600 V. The open circuit volta-ge is 800 V, which simplifies the work of installers when laying out systems. The same is true for the integrated DC disconnect. Screw terminals make connecting to the grid easy. The units contain a sing-le- or three-phase monitoring sys-tem conforming to VDE0126-1-1, including an AC/DC-sensitive resi-dual current protector. The units can thus be connected to the grid without any additional measures, even in installations with several inverters.

Galvanically isolated string invertersPowador 2002 — 3002 — 4202 — 5002 — 6002

Featuring effortless assembly, high-est efficiency and optimal operation (with thin layer modules too), the 02 family with galvanic isolation is a true winner.

All of the necessary connections are located on a separate PCB within the housing and can be con-nected up easily. The DC isolator is integrated in the housing.

For the 02 family, KACO also offers a kit for generator earthing. The in-verters display the earthing status of the PV generator. This is impor tant information, especially for the operation of amorphous thin film modules.

Image perfect grid current – the kind you get from large-scale power plants – but from decentralised re-newable sources. The Powador 10.0 TL3 to 14.0 TL3 units combine KACO new energy’s many years of experi-ence in developing transformerless units with the demand for perfect grid feeding.

Since they are true three-phase units, they provide high-quality, si-nusoidal alternating current with a 120-degree phase shift - a dream come true for all grid operators. And it goes without saying that they meet all requirements of the new medium voltage directive.

Central inverters XP 100-HV bis XP 350-HV TL

The central inverters of the Pow-ador XP series are the first choice when it comes to usability and re-turn on investment. State-of-the-art, DSP-based technology offers highest performance, reliability and efficiency. A digital interface enab-les user-friendly operation, maintai-nability and highly advanced moni-toring and communication.

The unique control of power electronics clearly increases the switching efficiency of the power transistors: Depending on the input power that is currently present, one

of several pulse-width modulation methods is used. This means hig-her levels of efficiency and better yields.

The Powador XP series guarantees highest reliability due to the use of a secondary backup power supply for the control board, and a highly efficient cooling system for critical components. The fans are monito-red and operated based on load and ambient temperature.

Powador Megawatt-Station

The Megawatt Station from KACO signals the dawn of a new dimension - optimal performance, efficiency and reliability are a given with the cumulative AC nominalrating of 1050 kW.

The Powador Megawatt Station comprises three Po-wador XP 350- HV TLs connected to each other which, including medium voltage transformer, delivered as a turnkey station implementation.

The particular feature of this solution is that, for the three inverters to be equally loaded, KACO has for the first time implemented an innovative method with rotating Master function. Previously, the same inver-ter always took care of Master-Slave circuit operations when solar radiation was low. The Master- Change solution is used in the Megawatt Station. According to this principle, the three devices take it in turn as Master - an innovation which increases the life of the inverters many-fold. Furthermore the high degree of efficiency of the Powador 350-HV TL of course continu-es in the Megawatt Station.

The Megawatt Station is available in various configu-rations and provides the option for custom adjustments (e.g. with integrated proLOG) to the requirements of the system and grid operator (e.g. integration of a me-dium voltage measuring field).

The second generation of highly efficient, on-grid solar inverters SI 2500 has some new developments in store. As such, the SI 2500, for instance, reaches a bet-ter efficiency rate of up to 95.6% by using the tried and tested resonance converter topology. A further interes-ting feature of the 2nd generation of the SI 2500 is the enhanced input voltage range of up to 540 V.

The solar inverter SI 3300 from Delta convinces with its top efficiency of 96.0% and is rightly the top inverter with a transformer (see Photon solar power magazine 05/2008). Thanks to the elegant and compact housing as well as the low-noise function of the SI 3300, the solar inverter from Delta even looks great in the living

area. You can, of course, also fit the SI 3300 in a pro-tected outdoor area, as protection class IP65 means that it is dust-proof, fully contact-proof and protected against spraywater from all directions.

Thanks to state-of-the-art high frequency technology the galvanically isolated solar inverter SI 5000 achieves top efficiency levels and therefore guarantees conti-nuously excellent energy production. This highly effi-cient, on-grid solar inverter can be used both indoors and in protected outdoor areas thanks to its protection class IP65. A simple operation of the device is made possible thanks to the user-friendly display.

KACO accessories for system monitoring

Anybody investing in a photovoltaic system wants to be sure that it generates maximum power yields in an opti-mum operational state. No matter whether you are loo-king to keep an eye on a small system from the comfort of your home or to control an entire solar park when out and about, you are always the master of the situation with KACO accessories.

We will be glad to assist in putting together your tailor-made solution so that you are able to keep an eye on yields from the very first second.

We offer data loggers as professional solutions which are synchronised perfectly to KACO inverters. The fact that proLog family data loggers and inverters come from the same source ensures optimal functionality and compati-bility - perfect monitoring, data recording and analysis of the system, from the 5 kWp system right to the 60 MWp system.

For large-scale systems which are rated at 100 KW and which must be connected to the ripple control receivers of energy suppliers, proLog XL family data loggers provide the relevant interfaces to satisfy current regulations.

Various interfaces also provide connectivity for large dis-plays, alarm contacts, in-feed meters, etc. To also enab-le owners of smaller PV systems to achieve costeffective monitoring of their systems, KACO has extended its range of data loggers. Besides the very affordable miniLOG, ele-gant displays are available which not only show system data, but also have an aesthetically pleasing design.

In addition to the solutions from KACO, we can also offer you data loggers from the Solarlog family for systems with a medium rating (up to 100 kW). These makes the funda-mental monitoring of the system very simple. There are also solutions here for mixed systems in which inverters other than KACO models are used.

The presence of an Internet router makes remote con-nection easy.

Der Powador-proLOG: Accessory

The Powador-link RS485 is a radio module comprising a transmitter and receiver ac-ting as a wireless extension of the RS485 bus on the inverter.

The 6-port RS485 hub is new to the range of accessories. This device allows the con-figuration of a star-shaped RS485 network. This enables the simpler configuration of the RS485 bus system in many cases, sim-plifying cabling and resulting in savings in installation costs.

As sturdy and flexible as the RS485 bus may be, it has one decisive drawback - it requires a cable!

So what happens for example when a cable needs to laid across a road - but not above or below it? The solution is the Pow-ador Link - the wireless cable!

This enables you to essentially use the Powador Link as a normal RS485 cable. On one side of the road, a module is installed at the point the cable must end. The other module is installed on the other side where the cable continues.

The radio bridge is fully transparent to all devices connected. No further configurati-on is necessary on the devices connected to the RS485 bus.

Powador-link RS 485

The IO module is an extension module with which you are able to increase the num-ber of analogue/digital channels on the Powador-proLOG. The extension module is available in 2 variants:

• IO module 1 (4 analogue inputs, 4 digital inputs, 1 digital output)

• IO module 2 (8 digital inputs, 1 digital output)

IO Module

As an accessory for the large Powador-pro-LOG data logger, the current sensor pro-vides two additional functions:

1. More than 32 string inverters or 10 cen-tral inverters can be linked to the monitor and up to 100 Powador-go units can be con-nected for each proLOG.

2. Inverters without an RS485 interface can also be monitored with the Powador-proLOG. Two versions of the Powador-go current sensors are now available.

These 2 versions are available:Advanced: RS485 is not optically isolatedPremium: RS485 is optically isolated

In the Premium variant, RS485 communi-cation is galvanically isolated from the bus system. This is recommended if the sensors are combined with inverters in the bus net-work. The Advanced variant is used in the Powa-dor-go Set - galvanic isolation is not requi-red here.

Module temperature sensor

This self-adhesive temperature sensor measures the temperature of photovoltaic modules. In order to do this, the tempe-rature sensor is stuck onto the rear of a photovoltaic module. This silicone rubber plaster contains a PT100 thin film tempera-ture sensor. The sensor is held tight against aluminium film used as the base.

After removing the protective film, the self-adhesive aluminium film can be stuck directly onto the surface to be monitored. The sensor is supplied with a 2m connec-

tion lead (wires 7 x 0.2), and works to-gether with the PXT 10 temperature con-verter. This conditions the signal of the PT 100 temperature sensor for the Powador- proLOG. Line resistances between tempe-rature sensor and temperature converter are compensated for. This converter is re-quired for the self-adhesive module tem-perature sensor. For the Powador-proLOG, we recommend a 230V AC power supply to relieve loading of the internal PSU of the Powador-proLOG.

Irradiation sensor

The irradiation sensor is used for professi-onal monitoring of a photovoltaic system. The irradiation measured is used to deter-mine the expected yield of a PV system and to compare it to the actual yield. The short-circuit current of a silicon (Si) solar cell is proportional to the solar irradiation. The Si sensors use a monocrystalline solar cell which is operated virtually in short-circuit with a low-impedance resistor. The positive temperature coefficient of the short-circuit

current results in a low measurement er-ror. The Si sensors (with code TC) therefo-re have active temperature compensation which reduces this error by a factor of 20. A special temperature sensor is laminated into the rear of the solar cell for this purpo-se. All sensors have been calibrated against a pyranometer when exposed to sunlight (Kipp & Zonen, model CM11).

Analysis optionsPowador-monitor

Powador-monitor is PC software for the local analysis of readings recorded by the Powador-proLOG data logger. Data is transferred to the computer via a modem or over Ethernet. The data can be impor-

ted with a compact flash card. Dif-ferent views can be selected.

Archiving is also possible, al-lowing users to visually check in-verter values over longer periods.

Powador-web

Powador-web is an Internet portal which, in conjunction with the Powador-proLOG, enables comprehensive analy-sis and visualisation of photovoltaic systems. The options range from energy production related to different time periods and sub-systems (including actualtarget compari-sons and individual inverter values such as current, volta-

ge, power on inputs and outputs) to module temperature and solar irradiation. Also, alarm conditions and types of messages can be configured and regulated.

Powador-web displays are available in 10”, 15” and 42” sizes.

Yield forecast:

The following calculations are possible:

An average annual irradiation figure is recorded for every postcode. The irradiation is used to calculate a yield fore-cast (dependent on alignment and setup angle of the modules). The yield forecast is a conservative estimate which is generally exceeded in practise.

PV system design:

Using the module type and the number of modules as the starting point, you can establish which KACO inverters are suitable for your system. This takes into consideration the ratings of modules in relation to the inverter rating, the MPP voltage, the opencircuit voltage and the system voltage.

Page 39: SOLEOS product catalogue 2011/2012

39

Cable losses:

Cable loss calculation is divided into three subgroups - DC cable losses, AC cable losses and AC three-phase cable losses. This enables you to calculate cable losses individually. For cable losses on the DC side, you should also consider generator connection boxes.

All popular PV modules are kept in a list which is continually updated. If your module is not in the list, you can easily add new modules from the input screen. Modules entered yourself are retained when the list is updated later.

The ideal supplement to every SolarLog™

We also offer the suitable accessories for the ideal sup-plement of the SolarLog™. Sensors for the current sunlight and the module temperatures provide important informa-tion for the analysis of yield data and thereby enable a reliable target/actual comparison as well as quick fault detection. The sensor box consists of sensors for wind, sunlight and external and module temperatures. The sen-sors are directly installed on the photovoltaic system. The connection is carried out easily via an RS485 interface. The Solar-Log™ RS485 radio package connects the Solar-Log™ across long distances with the inverter. In many ca-ses, the Solar- Log™ RS485 radio package is the practical alternative to the modem or mobile radio package.

For systems which are installed outside the range of an internet or telephone connection, the mobile communication modem is often the suitable solution. This means that the Solar-Log™ is able to send messages as an e-mail or SMS and supply Solar-Log™ WEB with online data at any time.

The software and hardware for data transmission are al-ready pre-configured; a SIM card with a contract for data transmission with a provider of your choice is required.

Tailor-made customer-specific price calculations and ma-terial compositions of materials are based on individual customer-side data entry, preferably using our company’s various checklists and of course over the telephone.

Preparation and planning of installation systems is only possible with good customer contact. Customer consulta-tion and support is hence our top priority. This starts with bid proposal and continues through the ordering and deli-very phases, ending with installation on the roof.

Important applicable standards and directives:• DIN ISO 900:20081• DIN 1055 Effects on bearing loads -• Part 4 Wind loads, Part 5 Snow loads• Joints in accordance with DIN 188000• DIN 1052 Timber structures

Static structural integrity verification can be providedfor all installation systems if so required.

This substructure can be used for attachment on sloped roofs with different roof coverings (module independent). This comprises a of a roof attachment element (e.g. roof hook, roof seam clamps, hangar bolt, trapezoidal shoes, etc.), aluminium profile rails, stainless steel joint ele-ments and a material for clamping the modules on the profile rails.

Selection of the appropriate roof attachment element is based on the roofing, the condition of the loadbearing roof sub-structure, the load-bearing capacity of the roof and the roof angle.

Flat roof installation systemA flat roof installation system is used for the deployment of ballasting for simple and quick installation of photo-voltaic systems at ground level and on flat roofs up to an angle of approx. 5°.

The load-bearing capacity of the roof must be checked beforehand by the customer.

The standard products for elevations, the anchor bolts for attachment in concrete and the T-brackets or plastic plates for taking ballast are included in the delivery. The concrete blocks and gravel are not included in quotations or deliveries. We determine the ballast weight necessary for a specific case on the basis of all static information

such as snow and wind load, self-weight, elevation angle, module size and position.

Positioning of modules to approx. 30° is recommended to leverage the optimum annual efficiency. The universally deployable triangle structure made of aluminium Lprofi-les, for bolting or already welded, has a reliable and pro-ven track record in many applications.

The modules can be mounted vertically or crosswise in observance of the installation instructions from the modu-le manufacturers. If modules are to be elevated crosswise, it would be useful if you could tell us the clamping method you plan to use.

Variant 1:

With concrete blocksIt is possible to position the concrete blocks underneath the ele-vation frame so as to then anchor it in the concrete with anchor bolts. The frame can sit on the concrete with the base bracket or be secured at the tie bar.

Variant 2:

With curb stonesFig. 2 shows loading with curb stones which are placed directly onto the brackets of the aluminium T-profiles. The distance bet-ween brackets must be 1m. Laying of the building protective mat must prevent the T-profiles pressing into the roof membrane.

Variant 3

With gravel loadingExisting gravel layers on flat roofs can be used as weighting. For this we offer trapezoidal plastic plates onto which the elevation triangles are screwed with hexagonal screws. The plates can take up to 12cm of gravel.

If the gravel is only limited to the photovoltaic surface, alu-minium sheet metal trays with welded-on elevation brackets are available. These two variants allow a row network.

The ConSole is an innovative system specially developed for the installation of PV modules on flat roofs. All popular modules and laminates can be attached to it. This all-in-one system comprises the ConSole, aluminium profiles and all minor parts for assembly.

Installation is quick and easy. Simply attach the profiles on the module, fill the gravel or slabs as ballast into the ConSole and screw the module to the ConSole. The Con-Sole is made of recycled, durable plastic, is 100% chlori-ne-free and requires no maintenance. The ConSole is also TÜV-tested.

Outdoor installation systemThe outdoor installation system enables the implementa-tion of diverse configuration options on even ground. The attachment of single or multi-row photovoltaic systems is independent of the module type and the position of modu-

les is variable. Diagonal struts secure the system against lateral forces. The setting angle used can be configured according to customer requirement and local conditions.

ReMax is a rail system to implement large spanning widths. In addition to the main application (installation in open spaces), it is also very well suited for custom structures such as multi-row elevations, large roof beam gaps and flat roofs with large distances between supports.

All ground connection options are open for system ins-tallations in open spaces. The number of rows above one another and the gap between supports can also be freely selected within wide ranges. This enables you to imple-ment the most cost-effective solutions (conformant to the static requirements). An extremely installation- friendly claw fastening system is used to join individual rail levels. Telescopic inserts are provided for connecting individual carriers.

Variant 1:

Angled design on concrete foundationThe proven system offers the simplest configuration in which the angled structure is used on individual foundations, strip founda-tions or foundation plates. The substructure comprises aluminium brackets or profiles made of hot-dipped galvanized steel or stain-less steel, aluminium profile rails and stainless steel joint ele-ments (bolts, nuts, washers).

Variant 2:

Steel tube design on concrete foundationsAnother system installation configuration is the steel tube carrier design with supporting feet. The telescope- type design allows ad-ditional height compensation. The structure comprises hot-dipped galvanized steel tubes, aluminium profile rails and stainless steeljoint elements. Mortar cartridges (two-component adhesive) and threaded bolts are used for the attachment to the foundations.

Variant 3:

Steel tube structure with DOMA® screw foundationsThe use of a steel tube structure in combination with DOMA® screw foundations provides for a very uncomplicated type of out-door system installation. Screw foundations are turned into the ground for anchoring, hence making the pouring of concrete foun-dations redundant. This variant is excellently suited to compen-sating for unevenness in the ground and can be used for different ground types without sealing the ground. The steel tubes on which the proven installation system is attached are mounted on the screw foundations.

Installation system for trapezoidal sheet roofs

For trapezoidal sheet roofs in particular, SOLEOS offers an attachment system which has crossbar profiles and is suitable for all module types. The ReDuce installation system is a riveted variant used mainly for sloped trape-zoidal roofs. Modules are placed directly on the rails and locked into place.

Wind and eddy forces are low here because the contact surface of the wind is lower due to the lower mounting position. On the ReDuce system, a special coating ensures securing of the countersunk head screws in the pressure plates and the correct seating of the threaded plates. All screws are stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are made of sea water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This installation system is guaranteed for 10 years.

The ReJect installation system is an elevated system sui-table for different subsurfaces and facades. Triangles are available in all angles and sizes, welded or bolted - depen-ding on customer requirement.

The system is secured with weight loading, hanger bolts or rivets. Individual, optimal roof layouts can be attai-ned with edgewise or crosswise assembly. The roof sur-face area is used to its maximum. Easy insertion and fixing enables simple installation of the modules. All screws are stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are made of sea water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This system is also guaranteed for 10 years. For the lightweight design of trapezoidal plates in particular, an extended variant of the ReJect system is available as a riveted elevation with so-called wind deflectors. The rivet joint (the ground rails are riveted directly to the trapezoidal plate) and the wind deflector compensate for the wind forces and no additio-nal weighting is necessary.

Roof integration systems

Integrate

The main components of this instal-lation system are aluminium plates which are bolted to the roofing bat-tens. These form a kind of trough for accommodating the other parts. Both vertical and horizontal moduleinstallations are possible.

All of the attachment materials are part of the preconfigured ins-tallation system. You also receive

materials for final sealing of the system as per the installation no-tes. Because the plates are split into vertical sections, there is a „chimney suction effect“ in every segment which cools the modules. This results in particularly positive yield trends.

Mounting of the innovative in-roof installation system is possible for vertical and horizontal module installation. It combines the pro-

ven module clamping system with sealing, integrated roof compo-nents and stainless steel joint parts.

During the new development or roof refurbishment, ques-tions are increasingly being asked about an intelligent so-lution that is, in particular, easy on the eye for the combi-nation of photovoltaics and existing roof surfaces or such to be created. SOLEOS offers specially developed roof in-tegration systems for this need. They are characterised by a flat design of the system and are suitable for nearly all roof slopes. Our roof integration systems are made in Germany and come with a 10-year warranty. Mounting of the innovative in-roof installation system is possible for vertical and horizontal module installation. Integreos - The innovative in-roof solution

The roof integration system Inte-greos can be combined with many different modules. It was ensured during construction that the use of most framed standard modules is possible. For standard modules, the frame may not have an abso-lutely watertight connection with the laminate under certain circum-stances, which means that water by drip passed leaking areas.

The leakproofness of the module edges is not ensured with additi-onal sealing elements in the Inte-greos system. Instead, the water

that drips through the edges of the modules is collected by horizontal and vertical launder systems and directed into the dripping direc-tion.

The Integreos is fitted to the roof battens with screws. In the event of sufficient stability, the existing roof batten can be used. In doing so, the fastening of the sealing is carried out with an EPDM seal below the screw head and by an EPDM strap attached to be bottom side of the C profile.

Installation system accessoriesSuitable accessories for your PV system

We have put together some explanations for you so as to enable you to more rapidly locate the roof hooks required.

Roof hooks are used for roofs with roof tiles, slate tiles or concrete tiles. An additional distinction is made bet-ween pantile and plain roof hooks.

The use of roof hooks with a base plate is recommended because the best place for feeding through the bracket can be found by moving the plate on the rafter.

We make our roof hooks from different sorts of steel. This is why our standard versions are labelled appropria-tely:

• Stainless steel*¹ = stainless steel 1.4301• Stainless steel*² = mixed (clamp: stainless steel 1.4301; base plate: stainless steel 1.4016)

Roof hooks in other steel types are available on request.

To find the right roof hook for every load, our roof hooks are calculated statically and labelled accordingly.

Maximum bearable vertical forceThese values correspond to the maximum bearable verti-cal force and have been calculated for the following con-ditions:

• Roof angle 30°• Permitted pressure 18.0 kN/cm²• Up-to-date drawings of the roof hooks

An average value has been determined for height ad-justable roof hooks - this lies at a height adjustment of 25mm. Slate roof hooks are exceptions. Here the height adjustment does not have any bearing on the maximum bearable vertical force.

For pantile tiles and plain roof hooks, the lower bracket is designed to be used for a standard slat height (cross slat) of 3cm. A custom hook must be produced for lower slat heights. The height difference for larger slats can be

compensation with rafter attachments 5mm thick by bol-ting them to the rafter. Height-adjustable roof hooks are used to level uneven roofs.

• Max. height adjustment for pre-mounted clamp position: approx. 2.5cm

• Max. height adjustment for turned clamp: approx. 5cm

Some of the factors affecting the selection of roofhooks:

• The diameter of the attachment screw. We offer as standard an elongated hole in the upper part of the bracket with a diameter of 9mm.

• The static requirements for the installation system. We supply our hooks in bracket thicknesses 30x5, 35x6, 40x6 and 40x8.

• The demands made of the base plate holes: Small base plate: 150 x 60 x 4, 8 holes @ 9mm Standard base plate: 180 x 80 x 4, 8 holes @ 11 mm Base plate for highest static load: 180 x 80 x 5, 12 holes @ 11 mm

Plain roof hooks

Plain roof hooks have been specially developed for use on roofs with plain roofing and are screwed directly onto the rafter with two 8x100 hexagonal head wood screws. An area of 16.5 to 36 cm is covered with the rafter gaps.

Because the long cantilevered bracket of the plain roof hooks rests on the tile underneath, we recommend repla-cing clay tiles with sheet tiles.

Module clamping brackets are used at the end of each row or column to attach the modules. Clamping brackets must be adjusted to the thickness of the module frames.

Module clamping plates always clamp the modules bet-ween two neighbouring modules. The M6 threaded plate is similar in shape to the head of a hammer-head screw. This is fixed to the screw with a special adhesive to enable effective mounting of the clamping plates.

When tightening clamping brackets and clamping pla-tes, ensure that the threaded plate is turned into the DC

profile by 90° for the threaded plate to be secure in the profile. The distance between the modules in a column is determined by the hexagonal M6 screws of the clamping plates.

Ensure also that the clamping brackets press down on the module edge as straight as possible. All clamping at-tachments are then tightened to about 11-12 Nm.

New to our portfolio, and available now, is the Solar Car-port rated at 5-5.5 kWp. This is achieved using 24 photo-voltaic modules. The angle of incidence can be adjustedwithin a range of 5° to 25°.

Simple installation and easy expansion are two major features of the design.

A profile attached underneath the modules as a sealing rail ensures the roof is watertight. This profile ensures or-derly water drainage.

A perforated plate is attached below the profiles to address the safety issues pertaining to overhead glazing. The plate guarantees rear ventilation of the modules and can also be coloured so that unsightly cables cannot be seen.

Many other accessories, such as roof sheeting, guttering and lighting, are of course also available.

An off-grid system is the name given to a self-contained energy supply system. These types of systems have no connection to an available power network. The following pages describe all of the components which make up an off-grid system:

• Off-grid inverters• Solar charge regulator• Batteries

Please contact us should you not be able to find the pro-duct you are looking for. Our technical staff are available at all times to help out:

We provide support in the technical design of your pro-ject and provide you with technical documents - with tailor-made drawings for your project if so required.

What are off-grid systems?Individual solution for your application

Off-grid systems are used in areas where there is no elec-tricity network.

They are also used in applications such as toys, mobile phone chargers, garden lamps, allotments, mobile homes, holiday homes, residential buildings and parking meters.

Off-grid photovoltaic systems comprise a generator (solar module), a charge regulator and, where required, power conversion (off-grid inverter) and energy storage (battery).

We will be glad to assist in the design and configuration of your tailor-made solar system. For optimal system de-sign, we will need certain information from you, without which we will be unable to generate a quotation.

Because solar irradiation levels and differ in every loca-tion on the planet, an exact description of the location is important (country, place, features of the surroundings, type of roof, etc.)

Because the size of the system is heavily dependent on the daily consumption (in Wh), accurate information on in-dividual consumers and how long they use the equipment must be available.

Page 63: SOLEOS product catalogue 2011/2012

63

Local power generation is where the future lies, especiallyin areas with no reliable public electricity network. Off-grid inverters enable local electricity networks to be set up to support any kind of alternating current consumers. The requirements for off-grid inverters are high - good conversion efficiency, high overload capability, tolerance to voltage fluctuations of batteries, and an economical operating state.

Not a problem for our KI family of off-grid inverters! They provide independent power supply in regions away from the grid under extreme conditions. The KI family comprises galvanically isolated devices with MOSFET se-miconductors.

They convert the direct voltage (e.g. 12V, 24V or 48V) of a battery into alternating voltage (230V/50Hz or 110V/60Hz). Even sensitive electronic devices such as energy-saving lamps and laptops can be run with it. Using our inverters is often cheaper than purchasing less effici-ent 12V DC devices. Beware: Solutions with a „modified sine wave voltage“ (trapezium or triangular shape) or square wave voltages can even damage sensitive opera-ting equipment.

The reCUBE was specially developed for use in areas away from the grid. It forms a mobile supply unit which can work without a diesel generator and which is completely based on renewable energy sources.

It uses a PV generator to convert solar power into elec-tricity and stores this in a battery. The system is aided by a wind wheel which compensates for the lack of solar power at night and during months with less sunshine. At the heart of the system is a KACO off-grid inverter (model K 3000) which can provide a maximum power of 9 kW at short notice.

The system is tailored to the requirements of the cus-tomer and is provided to the customer as a completely configured unit. The reCUBE is also available in versions tailored to the needs of the customer. The number of mo-dules (6 or 9) can be specified by the customer to align the

power of the PV generator to requirements. In addition, a bypass switch for connecting the reCUBE to an existing or future electricity network is provided.

After the connection is made, the reCUBE checks the actual energy provision of the network and accepts the supply if the network cannot deliver any power.

Solar cables

Our solar cable are made of tinned, fine-wired copper with a double jacket as an insulation layer. We supply our cables with different external diameters depending on the customer-specific requirement profile. All cables are TÜV certified. Strippable or bonded sheathing is a typical fea-ture of our solar cables. The cables feature high tempe-rature resistance and mechanical stability and are UV and ozone resistant. The expected service life for trouble-free use is 25 years.

The cable varieties shown here only represent a selec-tion of all available cables. We have decided to only offer our solar cables in black. There are two reasons for this:

Firstly, black cables are more stable under exposure to UV light. With red and blue cables, UV light penetrates re-latively deeply into the insulation. This means that the UV stabilizers in the material intervene to protect the base material.

With black cables, the pigments producing the black co-lour also help to absorb UV radiation. So UV radiation does not penetrate deep into the material. The consequence is long service life of the insulation.

Perceived safety is another reason for colour coding bet-ween the positive and negative lines. Many inverters have been damaged by attaching the red cable to the positive terminal and the blue cable to the negative terminal.

We therefore recommend always running a polarity check with the meter before connecting to the inverter. We see the lack of colour coding as a gain in safety during installation because the polarity must be determined with a measurement.
