TNB-ES BUSINESS
TNB-ES supports Small Renewable Energy Program (SREP)
Providing consultancy/liason services for SREP licence, power system study and EPC.
TNB-ES supports Malaysian Government policy on Rural Electrification
Providing facilities for 24hr electricity supply to remote areas/islands not connected to the national grid
Providing least cost option solution, as compared to grid supply
Why Solar Hybrid?
Supply from National Grid:• High cost – far from grid system (current distance considered for grid < 5km) –• Not available – remote
Diesel Stand Alone (Genset):• 6 to 12 hour supply• High fuel cost and consumption• High Operation, Maintenance, Repairs &
Replacement Cost (OMR&R) • Low reliability
Operational problems;
Disadvantage of Stand-alone Genset
Generator set starting failure, requires unscheduled site visits/permanent manpower for fault rectification. Generator engine life also proved unsatisfactory. For isolated areas, fuel logistics and handling will increase operational costs.
