Congratulations to Springs of Hope

as they celebrate their6th year

of supporting disadvantaged children and young people to achieve academic excellence

and in turn support their futures.

The story of

How we started………….Siblings from The Hutchinson family began the charity in July 2009 and their first project involved them in donating computers to Lacovia Primary School in St. Elizabeth, on the south coast of Jamaica

In 2011, Dulcie, the sister of the family came across another school that needed her support and so she along with members of Springs of Hope began providing additional educational equipment they received from donations to Windsor Basic School, St. Ann’s Bay, on the north coast of Jamaica.

As the charity has developed over the last 6 years, Springs of Hope have become involved in supporting other schools and projects that needed help with educational resources and in improving the lives of children and young people in lesser developed areas both locally and globally.

Continuing developmentOver the last 6 years,

Dulcie and her brothers have enlisted the help of others to support the charity. The new members have volunteered and supported the development of the charity, helping with events and supporting the charity to it’s Limited company status and in securing Gift Aid to maximise monies raised to support the projects of Springs of Hope

In the last year Springs of Hope decided to support Windsor Basic School, St. Ann’s Bay with raising funds to enable them to build an extension to their school. As the years have passed the success of the local school, which is on squatted land and so receives so no support from the government hasmeant they can no longer fit in theircurrent accommodation

Current support

Springs of Hope have been working in partnership with Daneford Trust (UK) and Direct Abundance (Canada) to support the building of the extension through raising funds for the building materials. In May volunteers from Direct Abundance went to Jamaica and continued withthe buildingworks thathad begunin 2014

Moving forward….2015.....As the charity has developed we are now moving into a new era, we have been looking at what we do and who we choose to support and have decided to narrow down our works to support children and young people locally and in Jamaica only.

We are changing our status to enable us to become a Registered Charity and are moving towards becoming an Incorporated Charitable Organisation (ICO) Moving in this direction enables us to focus our support and raise funds in a more robust way that will cause maximum affect for those we continue to help.
