It is the missing link that brings all once isolated devices such as printers and computers to be able to be talking to each other after some configurations.

In networking, it is not limited to connecting printers and computers within the same building. Networking can also be done across Geographic locations and this is called Wide Area Network. Many organizations have branch offices, linking these offices to the headquarters is an important business decision. At Soft Touch System, we assist our clients to implement this solution to their business in a setting called Virtual Private Network.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is normally connecting branch offices together using Telephone Lines from the telephone company. And VPN requires networking Devices called Routers. The good thing about this arrangement is that, wherever a personnel goes he still has access to all his files and still can use corporate resources such as database and information systems located at a central location, say at Headquarters.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES – SERVER PLATFORM Server Systems are twofold, hardware and software. The hardware is called the computer. It is like the PC and or laptop on your table or desk, but bigger and stronger. The software that runs on this server hardware is called a server operating system or sometimes called network operating system.

There are many server operating systems available. The Microsoft lines of products are a popular choice for many organizations today. And they are implemented in varying arrangements depending on customer requirements. We at Soft Touch Limited assist our clients Design and Implement Client-Server Systems.

• Server Systems with Microsoft 2003 and 2008 Network Operating System on raw systems. This is a system whereby the systems is implemented on a server directly and is very limited in its capacity for expandability. To expand this type of system, will mean purchasing of new server hardware.

• Storage Area Network (SAN) Systems based on MS Server 2008 Network Operating System. This system type is expandable and is capable of massive storage. It is good solution for fast growing organization that store and retrieve massive amounts of data. The setback on this system type is that you do not have the flexibility of installing other server operating systems so that task allocation can be done.

• Virtualized SAN System. This is a very versatile system and very applicable in any setting. This system allows you to do more than what an ordinary SAN System can do. With Virtualized SAN System you can create many Servers so that you can share the work load amongst them. If one server crashes you do not have to worry, others will still run and your users will never know that a server has crashed, only the server administrator will know and attend to it at the background.

• With Virtualized System, Soft Touch System is capable implementing and supporting this solution using the latest Virtual System Software called VMware ESX4 and 5.

A Client – Server Systems has two parts, the server platform and the networking infrastructure. Therefore to have a fully fledged Computer based system, you need Server Platform and Networking Infrastructure.

PRODUCTS AND SERVCIES-APPLICATION SOFTWARE Application Software’s are computer programs that we put into (install on) Computers so that we can now use the computer to do our work. For instance Microsoft Word, we install on computers so that we can type our letters or reports.

Soft Touch System Limited does sell and support these application software’s to and for our clients:

1. We can install and support Windows Operating Systems – Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Windows Operating System are important Computer Programs as they are the programs that actually communicate with the Electronic Hardware of the Computer.

2. Microsoft Office Application Software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and MS Access. We can install and support 2003, 2007 and 2010 versions. These software help us make use of the computer and they can only work on a computer only if the computer has an operating system already running on it.

3. Since when computers have been in use, there are people who develop bad computer programs that can destroy computers and also destroy important data and information. As a result there are computer programs being developed to specifically deal with these bad programs. Kaspersky Antivirus is one such program – This is one the most effective antivirus software available on the market and Soft Touch Systems Limited support this software at the Server Level in a networking Environment and or on standalone systems (PC) for its clients.

4. In any Client – Server Local Area Network environment, users can logon to any machine. One thing users one is to be able to have the same setting as is on their own pc available to them on any machine they logon to. Desktop Authority is a Desktop Management Software, and has the capacity to make the same settings available to a user anywhere within the same office network. This is called global roaming. Soft Touch Systems Limited sells and supports this software for its clients.

5. Today many people have access to email and are very keen in sending and receiving emails internally and externally. This is made possible through computer software called Microsoft Exchange Server. The software comes in 2003, 2007 and 2010 version and it is also the latest on the market. It is a very successful means for advertisement for businesses. Websites when integrated with other application software such as Share Point Server 2007 gives a rich Information availability, retrieval and publishing power to any website.
