THE EVENT
Created by Turkish Airlines, Social Trippin’ is series of events that aims to bring social media opinion leaders from all around the world together.
The concept reflects one of the main components of global digital marketing strategy of Turkish Airlines, creating human interaction, getting into and creating conversation.
Participants are selected from social media specialists, Internet marketers, top bloggers, web gurus and super follower magnates.
WHAT IS
The program for Social Trippin’ sessions include social, theorical, sectoral and cultural activies. These components give participants the opportunity to see the different sides of the topic discussed, to recognize cultural behavior and to get to know each other. At the end of each trip, the aim is to reach a conclusion that will help people to realise there is more to digital.
Each year 4 events will be organised on different parts of the world. The first stop was Berlin.
WHAT IS
DAY 1 Our guests were welcomed at a branded Social Trippin’ counter at Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
At the check-in, they were given little teaser leaflets with their names grouped as teams.
After getting to know each other a little at CIP Lounge and talking about what’s to come, they were taken to plane.
It was very
cold
outside!

The first stop in Berlin was a suprise: An ice hockey game
at O2 World between Eisbaren Berlin and Kassel
Huskies.
DAY 2With a full
schedule coming up, the day
started early.
German guests started to arrive!
Andreas Weigend, the former Chief Scientist of Amazon.com and an expert in
data mining and computational marketing, was the first keynote speaker.

Shashank Nigam, the author of SimpliFlying.com, a well respected and
unique airline marketing and branding blog, was next.

In the afternoon, the workshop started:
The guests were teamed up according to the leaflets given at check-in. They were briefed to create a marketing idea and strategy for Turkish Airlines’ football sponsorships. And there was a prize for the winners.

Teams were given 90 minutes to work on their ideas, and 10 minutes each to present. Before tey started working, FC Barcelona jerseys were
handed out to the teams as a suprise.
The jury included Haşmet Gökırmak, Yüce Zerey, Serdar Ekrem Şirin, Alihan Aydın of Turkish Airlines and Shashank Nigam.
After the presentations, there was a tie. Team Corner and Team Penalty were given one more shot at convincing the jury with their idea.
In the end Team Corner was the
winner with their “Get together, Fly to gather” idea.
Their prize was round-tickets to anywhere in the
world with Turkish Airlines!
DAY 3 After a day of hardwork, our guests had a day off and had a city tour.
In the afternoon it was time for departure and getting back to Istanbul where the next Social
Trippin’ will be organized.
