Building Social Media for Educators

Most Useful Tools★ Twitter: I learned more of what Twitter has to offer-
Paper li. I like having one space for all Health & Physical Education articles in one spot.
★ Delicious: I am always bookmarking favorite websites related to education (or other areas). This is an awesome alternative to bookmarking! I like having a visual of websites and similar tags. I will use this often.
Most Useful Tools★ Pinterest: I never thought to use this for education and I
found so many great ideas, lessons, etc to “pin” to my boards! This will be addicting!
★ Glogster: I had heard of this, but never used it. I love being able to create posters online. Such a great tool that will be used very often in the future!
Successes in Social Media★ I was able to learn more in depth about Twitter.
Scrolling through this app gives me a headache and I rarely use it to read articles anymore. However, learning of paper.li I am more inclined to use it now that I can create a space for articles that really interest me. I had no idea this existed and I’m grateful for learning something new!
Successes in Social Media★ I know I will use Delicious in my future of
teaching. This was my favorite tool in this course. I am a visual learner so being able to see websites and tags on one page will be very resourceful and help keep me organized.
Challenges in Social Media★ Finding new tools to use in social media was
challenging for me as I am not currently teaching. I felt like I would be able to better relate to a lot of the tools listed if I was incorporating my current lessons.
★ I chose Glogster because I have never created a poster online before. I chose the area of nutrition, but if I were teaching I could go more in depth of the lesson and include topics to discuss or class activities.
Moodle & Online Learning★ I have found Moodle to be a wonderful tool
in online learning. Subjects and assignments are organized and easy to navigate.
★ I feel like I have learned more with Moodle than I would in a classroom setting. Since the course is catered to social media it makes sense to take the course online.

Conclusion★ I really enjoyed this class since I enjoy using
social media on a daily basis. I find it extremely convenient to be able to use these programs on my phone, as well. I will most definitely be using what I learned in this course in my future of education!
