WHO
My enjoyment and participation in the sport of soccer
I can kick a soccer ball and play the sport in an organized fashion (kind of)
WHAT
Basically, it’s a game between two teams where no players, except goalies (called ‘keepers’), can touch the ball with their hands
The objective of the game is to score on the opposition’s net (large square mesh-like basket) by kicking, heading, etc.
I mostly play 9v9 on half of the fi eld that professionals would play on (11v11)
I currently just fi nished my indoor season (9v9) and am starting the outdoor season (11v11)
There is very little gear neededfor soccer – a ball, and possiblyshin pads, cleats or shoes, andlong socks…
The nice thing aboutsoccer is anyone can play – youare not limited by expensive gear
WHAT IS SOCCER?

zone, stopping the other team’s off ensive attack Closing down - Putt ing pressure on an off ensive player so they have no
space or t ime to operate Cover – Supporting the player closing down an opponent Diagonal Ball - Cross fi eld pass or diagonal bal l that opens up the game Dummy – Lett ing the bal l go past or through your legs to a teammate Golden goal - A goal scored in overt ime which ends the match.
