What is Oberlin?

• Recent international alumni from Oberlin have pursued medical degrees at Yale University, law degrees at the London School of Economics, MBA degrees from Northwestern University, doctoral degrees in economics at the University of Chicago, engineering at Columbia University, history at Cambridge University, biology at Yale University and business at Harvard University, to name just a few. For many years Oberlin has been the leading undergraduate institution in sending students on to Ph.D. programs in the sciences.

Oberlin at a Glance• Academic Year-Two semesters with January designated as winter term,

when students select one topic of concentration to pursue with an emphasis on self-education, creativity, and intellectual independence.

• Alumni-More than 50,000 ,more Obies have gone on to earn PhDs than graduates from any other predominantly undergraduate liberal arts college; three have been recipients of a Nobel Prize; eight have been awarded MacArthur "genius" fellowships.

• Cultural Life-More than 500 concerts and recitals, about 40 theater and dance productions and two Opera Theater productions each year; one of the top five college art museums in the nation.

• Libraries-Oberlin has four libraries housing 2.4 million items• Student Organizations-More than 175 chartered groups that support

students' various academic, cultural, religious, political, social, and athletic interests and skills.

About 12 percent of Oberlin students hold foreign passports and come from nearly 50 countries.

• The College meets 100 percent of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students through grants, scholarships, loans, and campus employment.

• Additionally Oberlin supports its international students with, visa support, guaranteed student housing, and a strong International Student Office.
