Will Rogers, who died in a 1935 plane crash, was one of the greatest political sages this country has ever known. Some of his sayings:

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it

back into your pocket.

8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading.

The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee

on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes

from bad judgment.

10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now

and then to make sure it's still there.

11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it

back.

12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he

started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot

him.

The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

ABOUT GROWING OLDER...

1. ~Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

2. ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

3. ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.

I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

4. ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of

Algebra.

5. ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

6. ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

7. ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it's such a nice

change from being young.

8. ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

9. ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

10. ~ Long ago, when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called

witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And, finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you're old.

The reason Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet was because nobody was married. Andy,

Aunt Bea, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, Gomer, Sam, Earnest T Bass, Helen, Thelma

Lou, Clara and, of course, Opie were all single. The only married person was Otis, and he

stayed drunk.

News for you! From you! About you!

From the RR Donnelley retired community

I am proud to announce that Tekla & I will have been married 60 years on August 10, 2017. She and I have been together through the phases of life and it has been and still is

an adventure. We have been vagabonds and we have been settlers. From Glenview & Mt Prospect Illinois working at the Chicago Division with all those great people we ventured

West to Donnelley's Computer services division in Fremont California whence I retired in 97; I still miss it all especially all the people! We are proud parents of three children and seven of the greatest grandkids on this

planet! We just read somewhere that our children are becoming us and are grandchildren are Perfect!

Through it all Tekla has been my guide, my conscience and certainly the best thing that has ever happened to me. Those of you who remember me would probably all agree.

In seeking some fun and adventure we

went on MSC Cruise in May of this year to the Caribbean where we posed for this photo.

After 35 years of marriage, a husband and wife came for counseling.

When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the

years they had been married.

On and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire

laundry list of unmet needs she had endured.

Finally, after allowing this for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and

after asking the wife to stand, he embraced and kissed her long and passionately as her husband watched -

with a raised eyebrow.

The woman shut up and quietly sat down in a daze.

The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you

do this?"

"Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, But on Fridays, I fish."

Jerry Malecki was trying to be unobtrusive,

but, we can see you Jerry! Everyone agrees that Camelot Banquets serves the

Lakeside Retirees very well!

We can also see Fred Mark

hiding behind some chairs!!

Waiting for next year! Mark your calendar for

May 09, 2018. We hope to see you there

It’s your life experiences that matter.

Make the most of each and every day!

PINE, Edward J. III

70, died peacefully at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL, Monday,

January 23, 2017 after a brief struggle with cancer. Ed was born

September 8, 1946 in Cambridge, MA, the son of Edward J. Pine Jr. and

Kathleen A. Pine from Rockport, MA. He attended Rockport

Elementary and High School, before attending the University of Maine,

Orono. He served in the Navy and Reserves for a total of 25 years ranking Lieutenant

Commander upon retiring. He traveled all over the world in the Navy to places like

Korea, Sri Lanka, Antigua, and Hawaii. He also joined the realm of the Arctic Circle,

earned a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering and a master's in business administration.

During his residence in Illinois, he worked as an engineer for R.R. Donnelley, a fortune 500 company,

Johnson Controls and Siemens. During this time he got involved in expansive offshore racing on Lake

Michigan on his boat, The Chocolate Chip. He had the opportunity to sail on the east coast to British Virgin

Islands and Mexico.

Following retirement, Ed moved to Palm Harbor, as did many of his long time golfing friends. Ed's passions

were golfing, going to art festivals and working on his condo. He enjoyed baking and cooking and was a

critic on pizza making as he attempted to bake the perfect pizza. He also was a groupie for the Rockin'

Johnny Band from Chicago. He was known by his golfing friends for keeping everyone's score and his

intricate knowledge of the rules of the game.

he spent many happy summers.

Ed's thoughtful manner and soft-spoken wisdom captured everyone's heart. He reminded us that life's

moments were meant for safe-keeping, not rushed through and forgotten. Ed is a treasure and will remain in

our hearts forever.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends
