Did you know that snot coats your nose hairs called cilia? I know, gross. Did you know that you breathe in the dirt and germs in the air and your nose acts as a filter?
Did you know that you make a new batch of mucus (snot) every twenty minutes? Also you swallow four pints or eight cups daily.
SnotMucus is salt and chemicals.
Mucus has a bacteria-killing chemical in it.
Snot is usually clear as glass.
People who have
One of the cleanest parts of your body is the nasal area because the cleaning crew- mucus and nose hair or cilia- help keep the nasal area
clean. To help keep the nasal area even cleaner, clear your nose at least twice a day or more…
Your snot covered nose hairs catch dirt and bacteria so it doesn’t go in your lungs. Tiny hairs called cilia move boogers and mucus to the back of your nose so you can swallow it. Each cilia moves 10 times every second, and moves the snot one inch in one minute.
There’s a lot going on in your nose.
Snot and Bacteria!
If the cilia stop working or the dirty snot gets
blocked in your sinuses (air spaces inside your skull) bacteria will build
up. This gives you a sinus infection. Because
of the bacteria waste, your snot will be yellow or green. So yellow or green snot shows you
are sick.
Snot and Its Ways
Long ago, people would always think
when mucus was coming out of your nose, it was
your brain.
A loogie combines icky snot from your nose and the garbage-filled snot coating your throat.
Snot Drips and Drops
Your nose drips out snot and boogers when you’re outside in the cold
because your cilia freeze and stop working.
Boogers can be slippery or crusty. It can be yellow or green. When you breath in more dry air, the booger dries. As a booger hangs around in your nose, moisture evaporates it, and the booger dries out. A booger is made of dirt, tiny glass pieces, pollen or other small junk. Sometimes boogers annoy you so much you have to blow your nose. Sometimes they even plug your nose up to where you can’t breathe.
Dust, smoke, grit, bacteria, tiny fungi, pollen, little metal pieces, ash, fuzz, sand, and itty
bitty meteorites all get into your nose.
For all you nose pickers, it’s not a great idea to pick your nose because it good bleed.
A lot of people eat their boogers. Eeeeeewwwwww! I know , it’s disgusting. I can’t imagine how many people eat or pick their boogers. But putting your fingers into your nose just puts the germs from your hands into your nose ,and you have a better chance of getting sick.
Back in the olden days mothers would have to suck the snot & boogey stuff out of the child’s nose and into their own mouth. Then they would spit it out. Today we use bulbs and other devices.
Did you know you can not open yours eye lids when you sneeze?
Did you know that sometimes you can stop a sneeze by pressing your finger between your upper lip and nose?
Fact: Your sneezes aren’t really harmful. They are made up of
water, salt and protein. So I guess if you don’t have a tissue you can sneeze on somebody!!
Tip: If you are sick and wonder why your nose feels
weird ,viruses and germs are living in it. If you sneeze now, you are sending out germs and
viruses.
When you sneeze snot droplets fly out at about 37 miles per hour. That’s about a race horse’s speed.
Sneezes project millions of snot droplets coming out of your nose.
Sneeze
You can sneeze over pepper, dust, pollen, pet dander, and smoke. Light can cause some people to sneeze.
One sneeze, make a wish. Two sneezes, you will be kissed. Three sneezes, you will be disappointed. Four sneezes, expect a letter. You sneeze maybe because you have allergies or a cold. When you sneeze, the way to check if you have a cold is to see if your snot is yellowh a runny nose. Aaaaahhhhh aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh chooooooooooooooo! Bless me. If that happens, make sure you cover your nose and mouth. Now back to what we were talking about. If you check what color your snot is, then you will know if you have a sinus infection, cold, or maybe even nothing.
When you sneeze, pleaseUse a tissue.
Use your hands and then wash immediately.
Use your elbow.
People who have allergies should NOT be around pets, pollen, or dust.
One sneeze make a wish.

Five sneezes, you will get something new.Six sneezes, you will take a trip.Sneeze before breakfast, you will receive company before bedtime.Sneeze three times before breakfast, bad luck.
Interesting fact: In the middle ages people thought when you sneeze your soul comes out. If the devil was in the air he will catch it, but if someone says ‘God Bless You’, your soul comes back to you body.

How Soft is the Tissue? We used the Paired Comparison Analysis Tool to Focus our Options.
After comparing all the tissues we came up with a class concensus that Puffs Plus was the softest. HyVee and Kleenex were next. And KMart and Walmart were not very soft at all.
