CLUB PROFESSIONALS:
General Manager ...................................Doug [email protected]
From the General Manager... Is it Spring yet? We are ready for warmer weather and the opportunity for outdoor activities at the Club. Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 8 and the first day of Spring is Friday, March 20. For members, this is a time to play golf or tennis and for the staff, it is a time to complete cold weather projects and prepare for the upcoming season.
We are very excited about the completion of the new deck at the East Clubhouse. We believe it will become one of the members’ favorites. As the weather improves, we hope you will take advantage of your new outdoor dining area. A new Grill menu is in the works which will provide more casual dining offerings, as well as a new vegetarian menu.
Despite the cold winter weather, we have welcomed new members to the Club. Spring is a time of year that families are seriously looking at country club membership. Encourage your friends and family to contact Anna Thomas, Membership & Activities Coordinator, for a tour of the Club and informationon experiencing the Bermuda Run Country Club lifestyle.
I look forward to seeing you around the Club. Please do not hesitate tocontact me with questions or concerns you may have at 336.998.8155 or byemailing me at [email protected].

With spring approaching, much of our maintenance during the month of March will be focusing on finishing our winter projects and getting our equipment ready for the mowing season. This winter in particular, we have focused heavily on our equipment. Each winter our mechanics perform normal maintenance on all of our equipment. This year we have completely rebuilt numerous pieces of equipment. Our East Course greens mowers were rebuilt with new reels, bearings, seals, etc. Except for the engines and a few parts, both mowers are virtually brand new. We completed the same task with all four of our fairway mowers. With the hard work our mechanics have done over the past four months, we are fully prepared for the upcoming season. Also, staff is nearing completion on many of our winter projects. Mulch and tree work are complete as well as the wetlands (holes #3 - #6) on the West Course. This winter, with the frozen conditions, it was very difficult to work in our bunkers. With the warmer weather approaching, staff will dedicate the next few weeks to completing all of our winter bunker maintenance.
I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome two new members to our Greens Committee. Walt Myers and Michael Quartermain have both volunteered to join the committee. Also, Ronnie Grubbs will chair our committee once again in 2015. I would like to thank all of our committee members for their time and support.
As always, if we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Play “Short Court Tennis” it goes a long way!Short Court Tennis is when you use the fourservices boxes as your boundary lines, Playing
and practicing your tennis strokes withinthese lines requires you to use much morefinesse and touch, two important and under
used aspects of today’s tennis game.
When playing Short Court Tennis, one caneasily see how angles can be created and
likewise, how to cover angles more efficiently. To Play: Both players take a position just
behind the service “T”. One player feeds acooperative shot to their opponent and youplay the point out using touch groundstrokes
and drop-shots. Play games to 10 pointsalternating who feeds the ball. You will soon
see that your overall game will improvebecause you will be developing shots that
you normally do not practice.
Give it a try, it’s a fun game!
Our Bermuda Run Tennis Pro’s, Bill and Bret, will offer their services to our BRCC Tennis Players who would
like to play a couple of fun sets!
Each week there will be an opportunity for two women and two men players. Your match will consist of playing one set
of doubles with Bill and one set of doubles with Bret.
These doubles matches are complimentary and they will provide a great opportunity for fun on the court while
also giving minor instruction as play progresses.
Please call the Tennis Shop to set up yourcomplimentary match 998-8279.
