Through the collaboration of the University of Georgia and the small town of Glennville Georgia, sim-ple suggestions were given to help renew street life. Glennville Georgia, located 2 hours southeast of At-lanta, is know for its sweet Videlia onions and though downtown provided retail services it lack the desired atmosphere. Through direct contact with Glennville simple solutions that fit the town desires were created, place building, adaptive reuse, and appropriate facade renovation.

Campus Planning: University of Georgia

The University of Georgia, located in the piedmont college town of Athens Georgia, has experienced significant growth throughout the mid- to late- twentieth century has solidified it as Georgia’s largest insti-tution. Rapid growth has increased the campus footprint and expected future growth will place addition-al strain on University resources, while the University searches for space for future residential. University policy requires students to live in campus housing during their freshman year, with 60 percent of incoming freshmen living in the Baxter Hill community on west campus. A combination of increasing freshmen and additional opportunities to draw increased numbers of Up-perclassmen to the site in coming years provides numerous opportunities to improve its accessibility, circu-lation, and value as a “campus downtown” beyond the construction of new buildings. The potential to unite the site’s many elements and augments its livability and to do so in three phases.

Campus Planning: University of Georgia

The primary goals of Phase 1 are to begin creating an urban wall along Baxter Street that defines the boundary of West Campus village, and to construct additional student residential rooms. The plan calls for the construction of additional dormitory rooms during this phase. This will enable students to be relocated to allow for renovation of existing residential buildings during later phases. Phase 1 additionally includes restoration of the portion of Tanyard Branch that daylights near Legion Pool, and improvements to Baxter Street corridor.

One of my strengths is global information systems and spatial analysis. From my undergraduate specializ-ing in water resources to my masters I have had numerous opportunity to learn different ways to represent the natural and human environment. I have had the opportunity to lend my service to the public sector. Over the last cou-ple of years a lot of my focus has been toward the coast of Georgia, as seen in the image to the left. Regional resiliency assessment

Through the support of the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia, I was able to be part of a group project focused on a comprehensive assessment of coastal Georgia. As a group we were able to participate in a hazard mitigation study based on an assessment of natural hazards, vulnerabilities, and risks through five different categories: natural environment, natural hazard, infrastructure, built environment, and so-cio-economic. As a team we estimated the impact of three different scenarios on each of these categories. The impact of a category one hurricane, category two hurricane, and category three hurricane.
