A smart function automatically predicts the energy demand (for air-conditioning, lighting, etc.) in a facility on the following day from the record of demand in the past and meteorological conditions, prepares a plan for energy supply without waste and controls energy supply in accordance with the plan. Significant energy use efficiency improvements and cost reductions are realized by integrating the control of multiple systems, such as electric power supply facilities, heat generating facilities and electricity storage systems.
The smart EMS also uses its automatic response type demand response control function to contribute to electric power demand adjustment in a local community by controlling energy supply in accordance with energy demand while maintaining the convenience and comfort of life.
Domestic Validation has been completed at the Yokohama Smart City Project (YSCP).The Yokohama Smart City Project, a project intended to establish a model for the smart conversion of existing cities on a large scale and its implementation overseas, was staged in the progressive city of Yokohama. Meidensha validates work for Smart BEMS and Smart FEMS in the progressive city of Yokohama.
Smart BEMS ValidationEnergy is used for a variety of applications, such as air conditioning, lighting and elevators at “Yokohama WORLD PORTERS” (large scale commercial facility). Although the operation of energy equipment had already been implemented individually, the implementation of the Smart BEMS made it possible to control them in an integrated manner so that energy is optimally used throughout the facility. Furthermore, responsive action contributed to an adjustment to electric power demand on a local community level.
Smart FEMS validationA cogeneration system had already been installed at the Yokohama Works of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. A large scale electricity storage system (redox flow cell system), as well as a concentrator solar power generating system and a Smart FEMS, to control these energy supply facilities in an integrated and appropriate manner, will be implemented. These implementations are aimed at conserving energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions of this business location. Furthermore, demand response action will be taken to improve the energy use efficiency within the local community.
* BEMS: Building Energy Management System* FEMS: Factory Energy Management System
Overseas Overseas implementation, to be performed in the future, will be based on the results of the validations.
