1. NIELIT (erstwhile DOEACC Society) is the Skill development and Capacity Building arm of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Govt. of India.

2. NIELIT has PAN India presence through a) 35 Own Centres at Ajmer (Kekri), Agartala, Aizwal,

Aurangabad, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Daman, Gangtok, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Tezpur, Imphal, Itanagar, Kolkata, Kohima, Patna, Ranchi, Srinagar and Jammu, Shimla, Lucknow, Chuchuyimlang, Guwahati, Shillong, Jorhat, Silchar, Senapati, Lunglei, Leh and Churchandpur, Tura, Pasighat (Computer Saksharta Kendra at Alawalpur).

b) 925 Accredited Institutes – Private Computer Training Institute accredited by NIELIT based on well defined norms and criteria for the conduct of courses in the Non Formal Sector (O/A/B/C Levels) – as on July 2016

c) 8983 Facilitation Centres – Private Computer Training Units engaged in the delivery and proliferation of IT Literacy in the country through NIELIT’s CCC/ BCC courses - as on July 2016

d) Opening of Centres at Kurukshetra, Jalandhar, Tirupati/ Srikakulam, Bhubaneshwar, Ayodhya is in process.

GENESIS

NIELIT in Uttar Pradesho NIELIT Gorakhpur was set up by MeitY in 1989 at

M.M.M. University of Technology Campus Gorakhpur as Centre for Electronics Design and Technology (CEDT) with an objective to reduce industry academia gap.

o It has own campus on 28 Acre Land provided by Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in M.M.M. University of Technology Campus.

o NIELIT Gorakhpur has an extension centre at Lucknow.

o Area of Jurisdiction: Uttar Pradesh

A Smart City has• Basic Infrastructure• uses ‘SMART’ solutions to make infrastructure and

services better.• Smart solutions are application of IT & Communication

to services and infrastructure to make them better. Examples:• Smart Street Light Control System • Smart Waste Management Solutions• Smart Home: Using mobile phones for control and

management of home appliances• Smart water meters and billing systems• Smart Traffic Control System• City-wide intelligent video surveillance network

Smart Street Light Control Solutions:

• Ability to control all street lights from single centralized place through web based application

• Ability to make light dim as per traffic or weather etc. automatically without human intervention

• Ability to switch off lights to conserve power and also to save environment

Smart Waste Management Solutions:

• Smart Bins are installed at various locations in the city

• These bins will themselves send an alert after these are filled up to 80% (or any threshold value).

• Smart recycling system will collect waste and recycle it at nearest recycling stations

• Ability to control all lights and fans from single android mobile application

• Ability to get video surveillance solution for home security

• Ability to have android based door security solution which on unauthorized open gives alarm on owner’s mobile
