Definition Smart City Munich

A Strategy for Smart city concerning energy efficiency and (natural) resources includes

● that a city in a long-term will be independent of fossil fuels,

● that new technology infrastructure, buildings, mobility, etc. are highly efficient organized to use resources (energy, water, etc.) and left a lower carbon footprint,

● that sustainable forms of mobility and their infrastructure are planned and realized,

● that integrated planning processes are enhanced, including integrated energy planning,

● that space for innovation and experiments for new ideas is given (pilot projects or "living labs"),

● that citizens are involved in the process and participate on the implementation of measures.

These are essential elements on the way to a climate-friendly and sustainable lifestyle, urban development and economy.
