About Small StonesWelcome to the first edition of the Small Stones Festival of the Arts. Three regional arts organizations have joined forces to bring you a juried exhibition of the best art in the area, in an atmosphere as inspirational as the art itself.
Our name descends from the Nipmuc name for our home: Hassanamesit, or Place of Small Stones.

MusiciansCorbin Calloway Bolton , piano - In addition to solo performances, Corbin has performed with the Boston Philharmonic and the Callithumpian Consort. Corbin also teaches at Apple Tree Arts and Calton Music Studio.
Amy Carroll , flute - Amy teaches at Anna Maria College, Worcester State University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Apple Tree Arts. She plays flute and piccolo with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra and Claflin Hill Summer Winds, and manages and plays flute with The Trillium Trio.
Kathryn Haddad , violin - Kathryn is a classically trained violinist currently performing with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra and with her cover band “Belit.” She is a certified Suzuki Violin Instructor and currently teaches violin and viola at Apple Tree Arts.

Carol has been a part of the Putney Painters group, mentored by Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik, since 2006. She served as a faculty member at the Portrait Society of America’s annual con-ference in 2015 and 2016 with responsibilities including mentor-ing, portfolio critiques and a workshop.

Nancy is currently Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings & Pho-tographs at the Worcester Art Museum, where she has organized several photography exhibitions. Previous to her work at the mu-seum she taught art history at Holy Cross and Clark University.

Scott and Donna are working as a team as “one” of our photogra-phy judges. As Erb/Dufault Photography, they focus on adver-tising, editorial, commercial portraiture and product work with a specialization in food, restaurant and hospitality clients.

Juliet has served as Executive Director of ArtsWorcester since joining that organization in 2011. In this role, she oversees the myriad activities of the organization, including twenty exhibi-tions each year, numerous educational and professional devel-opment activities in the arts, and other work to advance art as a career path for area residents.

Bob is a photographer with over 40 years of experience in 35mm, medium format, 4x5 view camera, and now DSLR photography. He is a cofounder of New England Photo Workshops and is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and Pho-tographic Society of America.

Piya is a contemporary artist working out of her studio in Auburn, MA, while also serving as Curator for the Sprinkler Factory. She works primarily in oil, but also enjoys working with acrylic and graphite medium. Her commissioned pieces include portraits of people and pets, semi-abstract florals and figurative paintings.

The Small Stones Festival of the Arts is a collaboration of the following organizations
Apple Tree Arts organized the Music Program for the Festival, and served as its fiscal sponsor. Established in 1989, Apple Tree Arts’ mission is to enrich the community through the arts, by providing education-al, music and theatre arts programs for individuals of all ages.
The Blackstone Valley Art Association organized the painting and drawing por-tion of the Festival.The BVAA is dedicated to the advance-ment of the arts and preservation of the finest artistic traditions by means of exhi-bitions, classes, and other activities, and to the development of friendly exchanges amongst artists and those interested in the arts.
The Worcester County Camera Club organized the photography portion of the Festival.The WCCC is made up of photogra-phy enthusiasts who join together each month to share knowledge and camara-derie surrounding their common interest in the art and science of the camera.

The Blackstone Valley Art Association is a community oriented art organization promoting art and culture throughout the Blackstone Valley area. We have been supporting local art since 1957 and have an active program covering all aspects of the creative process from watercolors to oils, from abstract to plein air and everything in between.
