Education system.

Slovakia has 10years of compulsory education. Students attend school five days a week. Classes were canceled on Saturday before the 1980s. The summer holidays are 1 July to late August, and also have a week at Christmas.

Length of classes

• A school year consist of two semesters. The first of ends at the end of January in all schools, and the second one before the beginning of the summer holidays. Primary and secondary school have around 6 classes a day. Classes last for 45 minutes.

Way of scoring

• Student at standard schools receive marks in almost all subjects. The marks go from one (best) to five (worst), and may include unofficial intermediary marks.

The future of education

• All state-run educational institutions have suffered from a lack of funding since the fall of communism, i.e. from the early 1990s onward. Schools fees for university-level schools have been prepared for years, put the parliament has been unable to pass legislation requiring them due to strong citizen opposition.

There are many outdoor sports that we can practice in Slovakia throughout the year, outdoor sports in winter and summer, snow sports, or sports in direct contact with nature.
