Technology and Textsets

• In 1992 technology began showing up in elementary literature courses.

• Simple programs where introduced as additions to textsets.

• Activates were made so that the students could develop not only reading skills, but comprehension.

• Students that used this technology were not only comprehending better but also making personal relationships with the text.

• The text set was such a success that it was carried onto an older audience.

• The older children then began making newsletters and again used like experience to tie into the text.

Thoughts on Technology and Textsets……..

1992 was a breakout year for technology in the classrooms. Today with the internet these same methods are being practiced at a much cheaper rate. Because technology is so popular among children they move at a much faster pace so technology can change with them so they will not get board with the same applications. It is a shame that test scores do not reflect the comprehension benefits from these activities. An example of online

The Hper-Connected Classroom

• Today more and more kids are learning to read and write with the web.

• Reading blogs and internet slang is not even close to paper written text and does not aid in language spelling and comprehension.

• Writing is also less structured not a lot of thought be pure emotion which can be hard to follow and have no direction.

things become non-subject with no real point. Our they are random thoughts with no clear meaning.

• Students also need to become editors and realize what is true and what is not. This is sometimes hard to figure out when reading on the web.

• Wiki is a great place for students to work on writing and develop better web writing skills that can be transitional in the classroom.

Thoughts on The Hper-Connected Classroom

• I can see issue with the way that people write in blogs. Most texts online that you read are incomplete. They often use slang similar to the way that people text message. This causes everyday language skills to go out the window.

• The other issue is that most writings are rambling and have no direct points.

transform the reading experience to increase comprehension.

• This software breaks the text down into simple word chunks and that assist with speed of reading.

• This software have been very successful with children of special need. It has also aided with the use of the world wide web.

• News on RSVP is not all positive. Eyestrain in a major problem caused by the rapid reading and movement of the eyes.

• This software is till good for improving reading skills and shows more positive signs then silent reading.

• This software sounds like a great adaptation to everyday reading.

• I think that a lot of times when students do independent reading minds tend to wonder and attention is adverted.

• I can see where special needs children have some eye problems but maybe they can slow the program down to multiple speeds.

Final ThoughtsTechnology offers many different additionsto education both good and bad. As long asconcepts are regulated and stay to moresoftware based programs skills will remainstrong. I think that it is also best the wediscuss why blog writing should change andthe importance of practicing proper languageskills.
