    Introduction

    Pakistan has agriculture based economy.This sector accounts for about 25% of the

    GDP and employs 50% of the total laborforce. It contributes 80% to foreignexchange earnings and provides raw

    material for major industries.

    Agriculture Overview Contribution to GDP = 21.6% Labor Force Employment = 42.1%

    Average Growth rate in last two decades = 4.0%(1980s - 5.4 1990s - 4.4 2001-04 - 1.12004-05 - 6.7 2005-06 - 2.5 2006-07 - 4.5%)

    Contribution of different Sub-Sectors in Agriculture

    MAIN PROBLEMS IN PAKISTAN

    CROP SECTOR The environmental situation is very poor and alarming in

    Many poor farmers with low subsistence level are unable

    to take risk in their cultivation methodology Another problem was of introducing chemical in

    agriculture. They were mainly composed of fertilizersand pesticides

    Conclusion

    Pakistans crop sector is the leading sector ofagriculture.

    Agreement on Agriculture is affecting the cropsector indirectly.

    The main goal of Pakistan should be to give theright direction to the crop sector because a large

    number of labor force is associated with it alongwith the earnings and expenditures of exportsand imports respectively
