Holmes in the classroom is an effective way to introduce learners to observation and logicobservation and logic. I believe that Holmes is a relevant character in
school because he never theorizes without factstheorizes without facts. Instead, he bases his findings on what he already
knowsknows. The connection between observation and observation and
deductiondeduction has applications across the curriculum.
Skills that can be introduced by using Holmes, are scanningscanning information, selectselecting what is relevant and discarddiscarding what is less so, before combining
findings with prior knowledgeprior knowledge.
I believe that only then can learners form a valid opinion.
