38-44 Strength & Conditioning workouts: Included with the indoor workouts each player will train in our strength and conditioning facility with our Slammers Strength Staff.

18-24 Outdoor Team Practices: These workouts are not ran by the Slammers Staff. The teams will have one to two outdoor practices workouts per week starting in April focusing on infield/outfield defense. Pitchers will work on fielding, bunt coverage’s and pickoffs. April- 4-8 WorkoutsMay- 4-8 WorkoutsJune – 4-8 WorkoutsJuly – 4-8 Workouts – The outdoor workouts will end the beginning or middle of July due to the fact that most tournaments are over at this time.

Tournaments: Tournament games will begin March depending on weather with the season lasting until the middle of July. Our hope is that each team will play in a minimum of 10-12 tournaments depending on what each team decides. Each team would travel to 1-4 out of state tournaments depending on what the coaches and parents decide. Generally the younger teams do not travel as much as the older teams. The 12-year-old teams will go to Cooperstown if the parents and coaches agree to do this.

Slammers Facilities: The use of the Slammers Facilities during the program. Free Tunnel rental and tokens for all our team members. The only time this will be an issue for availability is December 15th- February 15th when the High Schools are renting our facility.

1 Helmet- If you did not play in program last year- additional cost1 Bat Bag- If you did not play in program last year- additional cost

COSTS:

We have two different price structures depending on which team you son plays on. The majority of the 8-11 year old teams do not have a paid coach. We will try to have a paid coach on the 12-14 year old teams if we can but it is not guaranteed.

Non-Paid Coach - $390.00 due September 1st, $195.00 due on the 1st day of the month for the next 10 months starting October 1st. We have combined the tournament expense with the program fee this year into one monthly payment. The only other time you will have to come out of pocket is at the uniform night or if your team exceeds its tournament budget.

Paid Coach - $474.00 due September 1st, $237.00 due on the 1st day of the month for the next 10 months starting October 1st.

Uniform Cost: Approximately $275.00 for mandatory items for the 2014 season. If you did not play in our program last year you will need to purchase a wheeled bag and helmet at an additional cost. Order and sizing night will be on Thursday November 7 th. Payment must be made on uniform night or your order will not be placed. We will accept cash, check or credit card.

Tournament Cost: $650.00 (this is a budgeted amount). This is included in the monthly Slammers fee this year which is mentioned above. Please see page 5 for more detail regarding the tournament budget.

The training is included in the monthly fee structure. There are no refunds for missed training sessions, whether a child misses a session or, for example, whether a training session is missed because of weather, etc.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

Option 1: 11 month payment option. Payment for the program starts September 1st, $390.00 is due September 1st. $195.00 for the next 10 months due the 1st day of the month starting October 1st and ends July 1st. Payments are due on the 1st of each month.

If your son is on a paid coach team these fees are $237.00 per month, payment for the program starts September 1st, $574.00 is due September 1st. $237.00 for the next 10 months. Payments are due on the 1st of each month. Fee’s start in September for two reasons, it allows the parents to budget the cost of the program and secondly it locks the players into the program. We will set the payments on an automatic debit or credit card program in which the money will be withdrawn automatically from the account number that you provide to us.

3

Page 4: SLAMMERS PLAYER CONTRACT - HomeTeamsONLINEmedia.hometeamsonline.com/.../2014...Packet_(1).docx  · Web viewWe have been approached by people who want to donate from their business

Option 2: Full payment of the program option. This allows families to receive a discount of 5% on the program fee only not tournament. However the payment in full will included the tournament fee. Non-Paid Coach payment would be $2255.00 and Paid Coach would be $2755.00 This payment is due September 1st, 2013.

Please direct all cost and payment questions to Maurjourie Godfrey at [email protected] or 303-953-7365.

**Option 3: Advertising option. This is an option that allows for families that have business’s to pay the entire program cost plus the cost of the sign that will be on the outdoor wall at the Slammers South field. The companies will have their company’s logo and advertising put on the outfield wall at Slammers South. This would be a deductible expense for the company. This amount would be paid to Slammers baseball and not to the Michael S. Jacobs Foundation.

If you are using **option 3 then you will need to speak to Jeff Jenkins at 720-320-1650 or email him at [email protected] to set up a time to go discuss this option. The cost for a sign is $750 for 1 year or $1350 for two years. The sign is 4 X 8 in dimensions. The sign is made up of an aluminum composite that is durable and resistant to weather.

There is a limited availability for this option. You can purchase more than one sign. For instance Red Robin purchased 4 signs on the wall to make their sign larger.

Important: There will be a $25.00 administrative fee for each occurrence charged to your account due to any declined charges on credit cards or insufficient funds for checks.

Very Important- The cost of the program will not be reduced or prorated due to when you join the program unless you join the program after workouts start in January and your son misses workouts due to joining the program late. There have been many families who have started after August and missed the first month or two of payments and considered the program a membership and did not want to pay for the missed month’s fees. You are paying for a program that starts in January. Although we have multiple options for payment the cost of program is not associated with when you join the program.

All payments and forms need to be returned to Maurjourie Godfrey at [email protected] or send the forms to Slammers baseball, 1878 S. Wadsworth, Lakewood CO. 80232. Her direct line is 303-953-7365 and fax 303-989-7468.

This year we will be offering BOTH King Soopers and Safeway reloadable cards. This is the easiest fundraiser you will ever participate in! You earn 5% of all money you reload onto your card. You must obtain your cards through Slammers, as we will track the card number to your child’s account. These cards can be used for grocery purchases, fuel purchases the King Soopers, Loaf ‘n’ Jug, and Safeway fuel centers. These cards will be available at the Parent Meeting (August 23) for $5 each. (They are preloaded with $5.) Buy several cards and have grandparents, aunt, uncles, friends, and co-workers use the reloadable cards to earn money for your child’s uniform and tournament fees. Gift cards purchased at King Soopers or Safeway will NOT be linked to your family’s account - these cards must be obtained through Slammers. Please call Marilyn at 303-489-6711.

We will also be offering Scrip gift cards. I will have a list of participating retailers at the Parent Meeting, or you can email me for a current list. If you are interested, you will fill out an order form, and you will earn a percentage, usually between 3% - 12% on the gift cards. We will be keeping 1% of the order to pay the shipping/processing costs. For example, Red Robin gift cards can now be purchased and earn 12% bonus! Some other favorites include:

Sprouts (5%) Whole Foods (3%) Sports Authority (8%), Dicks Sporting Goods (8%), Cabela’s (11%), Chili’s (11%), Land’s End (16%), Marriott Hotels (8%), Nike (12%), Old Navy (14%) Macy’s (10%), just to name a few!

We will be selling Denver Entertainment Books in August through November. These books retail for $30 each. You will earn from $6 per book. The profit per book will increase if we sell more than 50 books. Book a table now at your local King Soopers to sell these books out front! Additionally, you can sell Entertainment books for markets other than Denver. These books can be obtained at the Parent Meeting (August 23) or by contacting Marilyn. You will simply check out these books....you do not need to prepay. You will either return $30 per book or return any unsold books.

We are also selling Qdoba coupon sheets. These coupons sheets sell for $10. Your child will earn $9 for every sheet sold! The coupons are good for almost a year (expires June 30, 2014). Some of the coupons include:

outright. For instance, if you want 10 coupon sheets, I will need to collect $100 from you. Then customers will pay you directly for the coupons. Qdoba sheets will be available at the Parent Meeting (August 23), or email me directly if you would like to pick up coupon sheets, and how many you would like. I will need full payment before I can give out the coupon sheets. Your fundraising account will then be credited $9 for each coupon sheet you bought.

We will be selling Denver Entertainment Books in August and September. These books retail for $30 each. You will earn from $6 to $15 per book, depending on how many books we sell as an organization. Additionally, you can sell Entertainment books for markets other than Denver. These books can be obtained at the Parent Meeting (August 22) or by contacting Marilyn.

In October, we will sell Fun Pasta. These packages sell for $6.50-$7.50 each, and your son earns 40% on each pasta sold. More information will be sent out in October regarding this fundraiser.

In November, we will be offering RADA cutlery, stoneware, dips, soup mixes, cookbooks

In January, we will be selling Old Chicago Pizza Pal cards. These cards sell for $11, and you earn $5 for each card sold. The card is good for one large Old Chicago pizza (up to $22 value). More information will be sent out in January regarding this fundraiser.

In March, we will again sell Rockies Rookies Club memberships. These sell for $20, and this past year we earned $8 on each packet sold. We will have to wait to see what the profit percentage will be this season. Keep in mind that this particular fundraiser will be applied to the 2014 uniform and tournament fees, since all of the 2013 fees will have been paid by that time.

If you have any questions regarding fundraising, please contact Marilyn Betsch at [email protected] or call Marilyn’s cell at 303-489-6711.

PLAYING TIME: EVERYONE REVIEW THIS7

Page 8: SLAMMERS PLAYER CONTRACT - HomeTeamsONLINEmedia.hometeamsonline.com/.../2014...Packet_(1).docx  · Web viewWe have been approached by people who want to donate from their business

ALL PLAYERS ARE NOT GUARUNTEED ANY SET AMOUNT OF PLAYING TIME! SLAMMERS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MOVE PLAYERS FROM TEAM TO TEAM IF THEY FEEL IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PLAYER, TEAM AND OR ORGANIZATION.

UNIFORMS: The uniform sizing & equipment night will be November 11 th, 2013

at Slammers South from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. This will be the only night we will have the full uniform sizing for the program. If you cannot attend you will need to set up a time with a week of the date to size your son. Payment is required at the time of sizing. We will try to hand out workout apparel to each individual player before workouts begin in January. Uniforms will be handed out on or before the 15th of February.

TOURNAMENTS / LEAGUES: Participating as a team in tournaments is part of the Slammers

experience. Tournament availability varies significantly by location, total signup, date and fees. We plan, to have each team play 10-12 tournaments, within an estimated tournament/ league budget of $650 per family. Included in these tournaments may be up to one or more out of state tournaments for which families will be responsible for their own travel costs separately from the $650 tournament fee. Participation in tournaments is determined by a team’s coaches in consultation with parents and Slammer’s management. As tournament fees vary significantly, the $650 may not cover tournament fees for 10- 12 tournaments. If the $650.00 does not cover the cost for the tournaments that your team plays, then each family will be required to pay their proportionate share of the additional tournament expense. Also, if the individual teams choose to play in more tournaments, each family will be required to pay their pro rata share of the additional tournament fees. There will be no refund of tournament fees if an individual child misses a tournament. There will only be a refund of tournament fees if at the close of the season the team has not expended all of the collected tournament fees and all families are current on their Slammers program, uniform and tournament fee’s.

COOPERSTOWN: THIS IS A SEPARATE FEE FROM THE $650.00 SLAMMERS TOURNAMENT FEE.

Some teams will choose to go to Cooperstown each year. The families will have to split the cost of the coach/coaches travel, this includes flight and rental car costs and they will also be responsible for the coaches cost for participating in Cooperstown. Teams are also responsible for sending or providing an umpire for the trip. This expense will be split amongst the families as well. You cannot use your Slammers fundraising credits for Cooperstown. Slammers does not collect the funds or have anything to do with setting up the Cooperstown trip. We can help you get your application in as we have grandfathered certificates. You can contact Jeff Jenkins who can assist your team if you are thinking about going in 2014. [email protected] .

VERY IMPORTANT:These fees are based on complete participation by all players on a team. Refunds:There will be no refund if a player is dismissed from the Slammers Program because of a violation of the Players Contract or Parents Contract.

There will be no refunds if you decide to leave the program due to injury, sickness or dispute with coaches or slammers administration. You will not be charged any more monthly dues from the point from which you leave the program. The will be no refunds at any time on equipment purchased. Any refunds on tournaments dues will be once again based on point at which the player leaves the team.

If our fees are not current players will not be allowed to participate in workouts or games.

The tournament season will conclude with that last tournament scheduled by the team’s coach. No person may use Slammers equipment, jerseys or logos outside of events scheduled by the team coach unless cleared by Slammers management.

8th Grade Feeder Team and High School Summer and Fall Team Advice, Experiences

We want to get you all information regarding 8th grade feeder teams and Summer and Fall programs for the High School year.

Over the past several years and especially now that we have grown our youth program we are constantly presented with these two questions,

“ What do I do with my son for his eighth grade summer”

“My Son Wants to play College baseball, What do I do”

We have talked to numerous families about these situations and we have heard experiences from a wide range of people and players and this is what we know to be true and what we at Slammers believe you should all know about the next step in your son or players development.

I know this is going to sound biased coming from Slammers but we want to get this information out to all of you so that you can prepare for this in the next year.

1. The USSSA State Championship for the 14 year old majors is in May every year. It is harder to find tournaments after this time for 14 year old teams. The general thought is that many teams will break up because the will have players go into an 8th grade feeder team for their High School.

2. 8th Grade Feeder Teams: Many parents and players believe that they need to get their foot in the door at their High Schools and make sure their son is seen by the High School coach as an 8th grader to ensure he has a spot at the High School his freshmen spring. Unfortunately this is not the case. Please do not take my word for it. Ask around to people you know and trust that have had kids go through it.

10

Page 11: SLAMMERS PLAYER CONTRACT - HomeTeamsONLINEmedia.hometeamsonline.com/.../2014...Packet_(1).docx  · Web viewWe have been approached by people who want to donate from their business

Our experience is this:1. Players who have played tournament baseball at the majors and AAA level are fundamentally much farther ahead in their development than players who go out for a feeder team. 2. The league that the teams play in is not very competitive and the coaching is usually a combination of fathers who are trying to ensure that their kids play.3. The High School varsity coaching staff has nothing to do with this team and does not attend any games. Many people think that the High School coach will be at games and practices in order to get to know these players which is simply not the case.Once again please ask other parents who have done this their opinions.

3. The High School coaches make their decisions on players during winter workouts and spring tryouts. This is where the entire coaching staff gets to see and know the players. This is what counts.

This brings us back to the question above,

“ What do I do with my son for his eighth grade summer”

This is what we believe at Slammers that you should do. We have formed this opinion over the last two years especially with our youth program.

1. We feel that you should stay on your current competitive team if you are comfortable with this team and plan on playing competitive majors or AAA tournaments through May. Starting at the end of May we want our teams to play in the High School Connie Mack league.

2. Connie Mack: There are 5 levels of Connie Mack baseball now in Colorado. 18U Elite- The Highest level of Connie Mack in the State, Slammers finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this league in 2012. 18U Open division, 17U Open Division, 16U Open Division, Our Slammers 8th grade team won this division in 2012, 15U Open Division.

We know that our competitive Majors and AAA teams can compete and do well in the 16 and 15 Open divisions. We know that these players and coaches know each other and have played together for years and that gives them an advantage going into the summer season.

3. We feel it is important for the players to compete against High School players and see that they can do well against these players. It gives them confidence going into the winter workouts. It also show the parents what High School teams look like and how they are ran.

4. The players who played on our 14 year old teams last year that are Freshmen this season are all on a High School Team. Every player.

“My Son Wants to play College baseball, What do I do”

Many players and parents that we deal with at the High School level want to continue playing after High School. There are many things that will come up in the recruiting process during their High School years. Below are a few Absolutes that we have learned in our 15 years of working with High School players and going through the recruiting process.

1. Academic achievement is the most important part of the recruiting process. Please make sure your kids understand that the day they walk into High School their 9 th grade year they have to take their G.P.A. very seriously. It will save them and you as parents thousands of dollars and open many doors for them. That is the first thing coaches ask us when they call about a player, “ What kind of student is this player”.

2. The Summer and Fall are the most important time for college recruiting. College coaches are coaching in the Spring and they use the Summer and Fall to get out to tournaments to watch players.

3. Make sure you and your kids have a game plan on where you want to attend college and be realistic. We deal with many players their Junior and Senior year that have not contacted any schools or do not even know where they want to go. That is not a good way to handle one of the most important decisions in your life. Here is what we tell our players: Make a list of 5 Dream Schools- Schools that if everything goes perfect you would want to attend. 10 Realistic Schools- Schools that you realistically would consider going to. Then put a list of 5 schools that if your GPA is not good or you get hurt that you would still consider going to. The next step would be to contact these schools and do some research on them yourselves. This last step I could go on about for pages from our experiences but I just want to plant a seed to make you aware of what is ahead.

I want all of you to know that a High School Spring season in Colorado is 19 games, many of you will play that many games in 3 or 4 weekends. The College coaches do not come to many spring games in Colorado for two reasons. 1. They are playing their seasons.2. The weather is to unpredictable for them to get out to see a game.

This is makes the Summer and Fall much more important to the players and many people get tired of the politics associated with High School Sports and they know we have a history of having good teams and very good coaching in the Summer and Fall most importantly we have a history of getting players into good College programs because College coaches know that we have been there and done it and we are hones with them.

Many High School Coaches do not want their players leaving their program in the summer and they will threaten and intimidate players to stay at the High School. This is a common thing that many of our parents and players deal with and this is what has been said to our players numerous times, “ If you play for Slammers in the Summer or Fall do not plan on playing for the High School in the Spring”. This is not legal and the coaches have been warned about not doing this numerous times but parents and players get intimidated by these threats and worry that it will affect their chances of playing High School baseball. of us at Slammers believe in the High School experience but we also know that it is a very small part of the recruiting process for the reasons stated above.

Please review the CHSSA by-laws below, CHSAA is the Colorado High School Activities Association which is the governing body for High School Sports in Colorado.

SLAMMERS PLAYER CONTRACT / CODE OF CONDUCT

Slammers Mission Statement

The goal of the Slammers Select Youth Program is to improve your baseball skills, and promote team play, sportsmanship, citizenship and character development for each player in the program. When you play for Slammers, you represent not just yourself and your parents, but your team and the entire Slammers Organization. Every participant, including all players, parents and coaches, are required to display principles of team play, respect, self-control, and sportsmanship. Players, parents and coaches are expected to act in a way that respects the game of baseball as well as the Slammers Organization. Since you represent the Slammers Program, your actions both on and off the field affect the reputation of our Slammers Program. This Player Contract sets out the requirements to participate in the Slammers program with this in mind. To play with Slammers you must sign this Player Contract, which is a binding agreement between you and Slammers Baseball. When you sign this Player Contract, you are agreeing to do what it requires you to do. If you do not, you will lose playing time or be dismissed from the Slammers program. If you do not understand any of these requirements, you need to talk with Mark Holzemer, before signing the contract.

What You Are Agreeing to Do

You will show respect, cooperation and support for your coaches, teammates, umpires, administrators, spectators and others with whom you come in contact both on and off the field.

You are expected to exhibit 100% effort in every activity associated with Slammers. You are expected to learn and follow team rules, procedures and signs. You will not do anything that results in an ejection from a game. You will attend all practices, team meetings and other team activities unless you

clear your absence with your coach or Program Director Mark Holzemer. Clearing your absence means speaking with your coach or Program Director Mark Holzemer, not just leaving a message or texting.

You will exhibit self-control in your actions, and will not complain or otherwise react to umpires, another coach, another player or a parent.

You will not throw any equipment, and will treat every other player’s equipment with respect.

You will refrain from using drugs, tobacco or alcohol during the games. The alcohol is especially an issue at tournaments. USSSA and Triple Crown have separate rules concerning the use of Alcohol.

You will not violate any law (age appropriate). You will not bully, intimidate or harm another player, or even try do so, and will not

take another player's equipment or other possessions. You will not use language that puts down a person, race, religion or physical

feature or any foul language. You will arrive on time or early for all practices, games, and Slammers events, and

you will follow any curfew that is set. You agree to be financially responsible for damage done to another person,

equipment or the facilities used by Slammers You agree that you will not discuss playing time and playing positions with any

coach during a game or tournament, and will not discuss playing time with my coach unless I follow the Slammers communication policy.

You will provide positive support for other players on the team and not criticize other players or coaches, because you understand that conduct is detrimental to the team.

You accept that you are not guaranteed to get equal playing time, or play at the position that you want to play, or batting at a particular spot in the line-up.

You accept that any negative aspect of your conduct and your overall participation for Slammers will affect your playing time.

24 Hour Rule: You will wait 24 hours after the completion of the last game of a tournament or league game to speak, email or text a coach / Slammers representative about playing time, position play or other concerns you have with your Slammers team. If this policy is broken your son will sit out completely the next game that your team plays in. If this policy is broken again your son will sit out an entire day of tournament play and have a meeting with a Slammers Represnative. If this policy is broken a third time you will be asked to leave the program.

You have read and will follow the Slammers Communication Policy. You will complete your season commitment with Slammers and not switch teams. You must sign this Player Contract agreeing to do what is required of you to be a

Slammers player.

In short you agree not to do anything on or off the field that will harm the reputation or welfare of Slammers or anyone associated with it.

What happens if you Do Not Do What You Are Required To Do

If you do not do what you are required to do in this contract:

Your playing time as a whole or playing time at the position you want will be less.

You may be suspended for one or more games. You may lose any equipment provided you by Slammers. You may be dismissed from the Slammers program.

If any of these happen, you WILL NOT receive a refund for any fees paid to Slammers for your playing opportunity. The consequences for failure to meet the requirements of this contract will be determined by the Slammers Program Director, Mark Holzemer, and/or the Slammers Board.

Slammers Communication Policy

There may be moments in our Program when communication problems, disagreements, interpersonal conflicts or other such issues may arise. Our goal is to resolve these issues in the context of a positive and respectful approach. Slammers follows a 24 cooling-off period rule, which includes a built in delay, so that such issues do not disrupt team games or other functions (the 24-hour Rule), The 24-hour Rule requires a parent or player to wait 24 hours after a game, or the final game of a tournament to discuss a complaint, comment, personnel issue or requested change with a coach. This allows the coach to complete the game or tournament coaching assignment without an interruption, which may affect team chemistry, and allows open communication after emotions have settled. This rule includes and pertains to emails, voice messages, phone calls and text messages, twitter and Facebook.

If a player or family has a problem with a coach or another player, and AFTER complying with the 24-hour Rule,

1. First, the player should speak directly to his/her coach. The coach will attempt to resolve the issue between players or with the player.

2. If the issue is not resolved by the player speaking with the coach, the parent(s) of the player should speak to the coach involved. The coach will attempt to resolve the issue with the player(s) and parents.

3. If the issue is not resolved by the coach alone, the player or the parent should notify the Program Director Mark Holzemer. The Program Director will arrange a meeting with the parent, player and coach or otherwise attempt to resolve the issue.

Any meeting should take place at a location considered adequate for a Private discussion agreed upon by both the Parent and Coach away from other players and parents - NOT at a Game, Tournament and/or Practice.

Any communication with the Program Director concerning such issues should be made by email or by telephone if email is not available to the family. Please note that a Team Parent or Manager is not considered to be the staff of Slammers and so such issues should not be reported to them.

SLAMMERS ANTI-BULLYING POLICY

Slammers takes any attempt to bully, intimidate, humiliate or harm seriously. This includes not only actual intimidation for example, but any attempt to do so. Any attempt to bully, intimidate, humiliate or harm must be reported to the Program Director by email or by telephone if email is not available immediately. Slammers will investigate any report of an attempt to bully, intimidate, humiliate or harm or other like conduct. At Slammers sole discretion, any confirmed attempt to bully, intimidate, humiliate or harm or like conduct by a parent or player will result in that family’s dismissal from the Slammers Program.

17. I understand and agree that Slammers does not guarantee my child equal playing time, or play at a particular position, or placement in a particular position in the batting order.18. I understand that Slammers make roster changes and may move my son to a different team during the season if it is in the best interest of the program, and that in some circumstances players may be added during the season.20. I will not argue with or confront a coach during a game or tournament, and agree to be remove myself from the game or tournament if I do so.21. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, or asked to do so unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.22. I will be financially responsible for any harm or damage my son or I (we) cause another person, or equipment or facilities used by Slammers.23. I understand that if my son quits a Slammers team during the season to join another team he will not be selected to return.23. I will not use language that puts down a person, race, religion or physical feature or any foul language.24. I agree that if my conduct is inconsistent with this Parent Code of Conduct that my son’s playing time or playing position will be affected, or may result in my son’s dismissal from the team.27. I will immediately report any conduct inconsistent with the policies of Slammers to the program director.
