Skype fast facts

Skype is a global phenomenon – in Q1 2007, Skype added nearly 25 million users – for a total of 196 million users.

Skype is available in 28 languages and is used in almost every country around the world.

4.4% of global long distance calling happens over Skype (TeleGeography, Dec. 2006)

Three new features launched in Q1 and are quickly gaining traction: Skype Prime (experts can sell their advice); SkypeFind (users can promote preferred businesses); and Skype Send Money (via PayPal). These are great examples of how Skype continues to innovate ahead of the curve.

From free calls…to freeing conversations

Freeing is about being able to see that special someone on a video call instead of just hearing a voice.

Freeing is about being able to chip in when one of your friends is collecting money for a birthday present.

Freeing is about making a phone number on a website into a button to click.
