General Information Skyline High School 2019 Jazz Band Auditions Director: Dr. LM Email: larragoity [email protected]rg Jazz Band at Skyline High School is the most competitive ensemble. This ensemble uses "traditional" jazz band instruments (saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, piano, bass, and drums). If you play a different instrument and are truly interested in auditioning for Jazz Band please email me directly to set something up. I would love to have enough students to open a second jazz' band course up that llows the "everyone" can participate path. An audition is required in order to be considered for Jazz Band. Although we are "traditional" in instrumentation, we do take more in each section if you make the audition. Directions for the Music Attached to this note is the audition material for Jazz Band. Included are portions of songs that you can play along with. Do not worry if some of it seems difficult. Prepare and do your best. The first section is a swing tune called "Four." Play this section in a sing style (uneven eighth nots and hard accents. The second tune is a Latin tune called "Children of Sanchez." Play this selection with straight eighth notes and hard accents. Metronome markings are indicated r each selection. If these are too fast for you it is 0.K. to audition at a slower tempo.
