SkyKeeperAirspaceManagement&Surveillance(SAMS)isascalable,fullynetworkedopenarchitecturesystem,interfacingcutting-edgegroundsensorswithreal-timedatafromadvancedairsurveillanceassets,todeliverAirspaceManagementandAirspaceSurveillanceintheSHORAD/VSHORADdomain.

SAMSemploysadvancedC4Itechnologytosignificantlyincreasethecombateffectivenessofland-basedAirDefenders.Thisisachievedthroughdeliveryofanintegratedairpictureconsistingoffuseddatareceivedfromitsowndedicatedradars,coupledwithremotedatareceivedviatacticaldatalinks.Identificationofelementsintheairpictureisaidedbyadedicatedsuiteofdecisionsupporttoolsthatsignificantlyreducetheworkloadofthesystemoperators.

SAMSprovidesimproveddetectionandinterdictionofairthreats,co-ordinationofairactivity,anddeconflictionofairspaceleadingtogreatercombateffectivenessandareducedriskoffratricide.Itcanbescaledtosupportanumberofscenariosrangingfromsmaller-scalecontingencyoperationstomediumscaledivisional-levelwarfare.

CAPABILITIESGROUND-BASED AIR DEFENCE CONTROL SAMSprovidesadvancedplanningandmissionmanagementtools,accesstotheGBADcommunityatlargeviacombatnetradioandtheabilitytouseairspacecontrolplanstoaidauto-identificationofdetectedtracks.

SENSOR INTERFACESSAMSprimarysensorfeedisdesignedtooperatewithitsindigenousSAABG-AMBradars-whichincludefullsecondarysurveillanceradarcapabilityandIFFsupport.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTEROPERABILITY Standardcommunicationsfitincludescombatnetradio,trunknetworking,Link16tacticaldatalinks,encryptedsatellitecommunicationandgroundtoairvoicecommunications.AdvancedaudiodistributionallowsoperatoraccesstoanyavailablevoicechannelsandprovidesaninternalIntercomcapability.

EXPANDABILITYSAMSisexpandable,andcanbeupgradedtoincludeadditionalsensorfeeds,suchasASTERIX,andadditionaldatalinkinputs(forexampleLink11,VMF,LLAPIandJREAP-C).
