Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
24Commercial-In-Confidence
Application Development– Graphic screen design and logic flow– Data Dictionary Definition and Database
replication profiles– Custom programming (Java, ABAP etc.) to
achieve complex requirements– Integration and interface management
definitions
Application Management Console– Version management– Software packaging– Profiling: what applications / data to whom
Monitoring Tools– Device management– Device connections
Remote Application Management
25Commercial-In-Confidence
• Package Deployment and Scheduling• Version Management and history logging of who has what version and
when.• Store and forward application updates the next time they connect.
Device Management
26Commercial-In-Confidence
• Who is Connected?• When did they last update?• Which devices have problems?• Where are they?• What are the contact details?• Issue device commands
Security
27Commercial-In-Confidence
Application Security: • Sky Supports a variety of common security protocols, including:• Active Directory• SAP Security (roles and profiles)• Application Level Authentication
Data security: • All data transfers between the SkyMobile Java Server on the mobile device and the
SkyMobile gateway is compressed and encrypted to optimise bandwidth and maximise security. Different encryption algorithms may be implemented e.g. Blowfish, DES, RSA, AES etc.
• Sensitive data stored locally on the device database may also be encrypted
Device identification: • Each SkyMobile server and gateway is identified using a unique ID and group. This ID is
used to configure which applications and data may be used. All remote server management is performed from the central management tools inside SAP, including device identification.
Security (Continued)
28Commercial-In-Confidence
Network Security• Sky recommends the use of a Carrier provided Access Point Name (APN) to give
enterprise level WAN access on mobile devices. • Further authentication can be achieved through the use of Radius &/or Proxy Servers
SkyMobile gateway (data encryption and compression): • The Gateway is used as an application firewall i.e. installed in an isolated, secured
environment (DMZ); permitting access to specific ports and back end SAP host systems. In this way, specific SAP connection details don’t need to be known by the remote devices, just an IP name/address and Port.
SAP security: • Using SAP security to restrict RFC and application access: The SkyMobile Java server and
gateway both connect to SAP using a specific SAP user and password. This user should be set up in SAP as a CPIC type logon. This means that it may not be used to directly log on to SAP as a dialog user. A specific profile should also be set up to control what this CPIC user may do in the SAP system i.e. only access /SKY/* functions.
• Within SAP standard SAP Security is used to limit access to the SkyMobile functions, such as workbench, interface management etc. Furthermore, Transactions can be secured at a lower level, such as plant to give only access to the right “organizational” level data.
SkyMobile Architecture – Interface Management
