A lot of people in society today agree that knowledge of various skills is important. However, when it comes to applying the practical skills they have acquired to build businesses, the attitude tends more towards the negative.

Why is this so? Could it be that we, as members of society feel unsure about our ability to succeed as entrepreneurs?

A truth which we must all acknowledge is that without entrepreneurs, employers of labour, there can be no jobs for those who seek employment, no economic growth in the society, and no sense of personal fulfillment by the entrepreneur.

Each one of us will agree that we have a passion for doing at least one thing. Why not take your passion and hone it? Learn how to make it not only your passion but also your business.

In this issue, some of the many resources available to you are revealed. Hopefully, you will be motivated by the entrepreneurial success stories.

Enjoy.

HOW HAVE YOU BENEFITTED FROM THIS PROGRAMME?

The programme is very beneficial to me. I have learnt so many things - the qualities of a good leader, how to

tolerate people, how to get on with difficult people, and how to lead people successfully without having crises.

So I have learnt things that will be of personal benefit now and in the future.

HAS IT EFFECTED ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOU?

There is a great difference between my yesterday and today. I know who I am and what I have become today

through this experience because I have learnt new things and I believe my today is better than yesterday.

HOW WILL YOU APPLY THESE PRINCIPLES?

I will start by applying the principles in my home. I will be able to deal better with my people, my husband and my children and I have also

learnt how to handle crises at home. As a leader, I have learnt how to tolerate people and how to accommodate people of differing

characters in the society at large. I will impact positively on the society.

HOW HAS THIS PROGRAMME HELPED YOU?

Well, I will say in so many ways. Academically, we have learnt so many things that we've not

been taught in school. It has given me practical experience. Now that we are here, we've been

able to see the practical aspect of those theories we read in school. It is very interesting and very

educative. Especially during the class on conflict resolution, I saw a clear picture of myself in

some of the problems I used to have. I am sure that I could have had ways of avoiding them but I

was quite ignorant.

HOW WILL YOU APPLY THIS TRAINING?

To be frank, as I am sitting here, I have made a determination to apply this training to myself. I have

determined within myself that I will expose my daughter to some of these physical activities from an early age, because it helps.

WILL YOU RECOMMEND THIS TRAINING TO OTHERS?

Yes! To organizations, not just to physical and health educators, to bankers, journalists like you, politicians, in fact everybody.

HOW WILL THIS TRAINING HELP YOU IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?

It will help me to manage my time, to know how to face any task that may come across me

in life. It will take me a long way in my course of study because this is related to my

course which is Health Education. It has also taught me how to associate with people

because my life has really changed. That social life has come back to me.

DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FIT FOR A LEADING ROLE?

Yes I see myself fit for it because I believe that if put into practice what I have learnt, I will be

able to come out and tell people how to go on with their daily lives.

WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE PROGRAMME?

The programme is okay. We need programmes like this to train youths on how to become good leaders

and citizens.

ABOUT THE EXERCISES, HOW CAN YOU APPLY THEM IN REAL LIFE SITUATIONS?

They give the philosophy behind the exercises and ask us to apply the techniques to overcome the

obstacles. So, I can use the techniques to overcome any like obstacle in real life situations.

HOW WILL YOU COMPARE YOURSELF AS YOU WERE BEFORE TO NOW?

Skills are very important.

To me, skill is more like the most important thing

right now anyone can think of. Come to think of it, we

have so many graduates. It is no longer the latest trend.

Being a graduate is like the least certificate you can

even have and if you get into the labour market you

competition here and there, so what is your stand if you

become a graduate today? I think the best thing is for

are so many skills

you can learn out

enerally hats have found a position in fashion.

They come in different forms, shapes, sizes and

colours and can be used with casual dressing or Gotherwise.

At times, you cannot just help but to admire them. Probably

at a time you may have wondered how it is made and what

is involved in the making.

Hat making has been a thrilling job. In fact, to its lovers, it

is almost all fun. Of course, it is natural that things that win

the admiration of people usually brings joy and satisfaction to the maker.

What then is involved? Well I may say not too much. Why? It usually takes two weeks to a month with daily training to

become a skilled hat maker. Then, you may purchase the tools you would use to carry out your own job. Those tools are,

1.Wooden molders (Crown and Brim). These come in different sizes and shapes. They are used to mould out the required

shapes of a hats crown and its brim.

2.The Synamey, it is just like a piece of fabric . It may be plain, rough twisted ,thick or light. This is the materials used in

making the crown and the brim of a hat.

3. Wire. It is a metallic string .It is used to maintain the shape of the brim. It is usually run around the brim’s edge.

4. Uhu gum. This is the recommended gum used in attaching the crown to the brim.

5. Stiffener. It is a milky – coloured fluid. It is used to stiffen the crown and the brim to the desired shape .Of course, it is

being applied while the synamey is still on the moulder.
