SKILLS DEVELOPMENT JOURNAL

FRONT COVERThese are initial masthead ideas that I designed using the help of DaFont.com. I wanted to create a square/block style masthead.

This is the final masthead design I have decided to use in my final magazine. I’ve used the bevel and emboss effects to make it stand out.

FRONT COVERThis is my main article image for my front cover. I have used the spot healer to make the models face and skin clearer.

This is before I used the spot healer and the level modifier tools.

FRONT COVER

I used the level adjustment tool to make the image darker to make it stand out behind the text.

FRONT COVER

I inserted a caption for my main article using the text tool and the Bauhaus 93 font. I then used the bevel and emboss and the drop shadow layer options to make the text stand out; I have featured these options on the majority of the text on my front cover

(where I have used the bevel and emboss and drop shadow layer options.)

FRONT COVERI have used the rectangle shape tool for the background to the skyline and by-line.

This is my finished magazine front cover, I have arranged the layers to make the models head go over the masthead using the polygonal lasso tool.

CONTENTS

I cropped this image down to place into my contents page using the magic wand tool, the I rotated it so it would fit in with the rest of the page.

CONTENTSThis was my original finished contents page but I felt that the background was very plain and I couldn’t fit any more images in it

I took up the white space by adding opaque circles. I made them opaque by using the opacity layer option tool.

The circles take up the white space but do not distract t the reader from the rest of the page.

DPSI used the same font from DaFont.com to keep with the house style. I copied over a small version of the masthead to keep with popular magazine conventions.

DPS

Using the rectangular marquee tool, I copied a small chunk of the background image and stretched it across the screen to make it look like the whole image, without stretching the models appearance and make it look more professional.
