In Chinese New Year holiday, I helped my mum do housework, fold the
clothes, sweep the floor and tidy up my room every day.
One day, I went shopping with my mum. On the way, Mum saw a
beautiful handbag. Mum said, “You stay here. I will buy this handbag.”
When Mum was still shopping in the store, I saw an old woman carrying
bags and crossing the road. I ran up to her and helped her carry the bags
to walk across the road.
Mum finally came out from the store. I told her what happened. Mum
said, “You’re such a kind boy.” I was very happy that Mum praised me.

Last year, I joined a flag selling activity with Mum and Dad.
We went to Mong Kok MTR station by bus. The weather was cold and
windy. I did not want to go out because it was very cold.
First, I was shy so I did not want to ask people to buy the flag. Mum
said, “Don’t worry. Be brave.”
Then, I asked a man, “Would you buy a flag, please?” After that, the
man gave me one hundred dollars. I felt happy.
In the end, we went home at five o’clock in the evening. I was glad
because it was a meaningful activity.

One day, I went home after school. When I was waiting at the traffic
light, I saw an old woman. She looked like she was over seventy years old.
Her hair was white, her back bone was bent. She wore old clothes and old
slippers.
She was pushing a big trolley. It was full of paper boxes, paper and old
furniture. It was very heavy. I helped her to push the trolley and we
crossed the road together. She said thank you to me.
I felt happy because I helped a person in need. I hope more people can
help the people in need.

Half an hour later, Xiao Ming’s Mum came and said thank you to the
staff member and me. Xiao Ming said thank you to me too. I did a good

Last Sunday, my friend, Mick and I went to the park together. We went
there by bus. We helped two people on the way to the park.
On the bus, we saw two old men standing because there were no seats.
We gave our seats to them. They were happy and said thank you to us.
When we got off the bus, we helped a blind man to cross the road.
Then, we went to the park and played on the slide. Suddenly, we saw a
little cute girl crying under the slide. ‘What’s wrong with you? Can I help
you?’ asked Mick. ‘I want to buy an ice-cream but I cannot find my mum!’
said the little girl. So Mick bought an ice-cream for her. She ate the

mum. At last, her mum came to the police station to pick up the little cute
girl.

It was an evening rush hour. Many people were crossing the road
when the pedestrian green light started flashing. An elderly lady couldn’t
cross the road because her eyesight was poor. She was nervous.
Luckily, Ada was going back home after school at that time. She
saw an old lady standing uneasily at the light junction. Ada walked to the
lady and asked her whether she needs any help. The elderly told Ada
about her problem. Then Ada held the old lady’s hand and they crossed
the road together. They reached the other side safely. The elderly
lady felt thankful and said, ‘You are a helpful girl.’
Ada felt delighted. I should learn from her. I appreciated her
kindness. Helping people can make us feel joyful.

Mandy is a good girl. She likes helping people very much.
Last Saturday, I went to the park with Mandy. On the way, we saw a
poor man in front of the MTR station. Mandy said, ‘Yuki, let’s help the poor
man.’ I said, ‘ok, I will give him ten dollars. How about you?’ ‘I will give fifty
dollars to him,’ replied Mandy. Mandy was more generous than me. We all
could fit the action to the word.
Then I asked, ‘Mandy, why did you give him so much money?’ Mandy
replied, ‘Because I can help others in need, and helping others gives me
happiness!’ replies Mandy.
Finally, I learnt that helping people can make me happy. I will help a
lot of people like Mandy did.

holiday.
When we arrived at the airport, I saw a very wretched girl crying. I
asked her what I could do to help her. Then she said, ‘I lost my mum. I
can’t find her at the airport. Can you help me?’ I said, ‘Yes!’
After that, I took her to the information counter. The staff in the
counter helped the girl to find her mum in the shopping mall near the
airport.
I felt so happy and joyful because the girl could find her mum
eventually. Moreover, my parents praised my behaviour.

Last month, when I was going back home, I saw an old lady and a man on
the street. They looked poor. I brought them to my house and asked, ‘Are
you hungry?’ ‘Yes, we are very hungry!’ They both replied.
Suddenly, Mum came back home and asked, ‘Who are they?’ ‘They are
homeless people.’ I told Mum everything. Then Mum cooked noodles with
vegetables for them.
After they ate the food, they felt very happy and said, ‘Thank you! You
are so kind. But we need to go now. See you soon!’
I felt great after helping them. Later on we were also very surprised
to find that the old man and woman were very famous in another country.

Yesterday was my birthday. I went to Mim Mim Cake Shop to buy the
birthday cake. On the way, I saw a wallet on the street. I opened it and it
had ninety dollars in it. I wanted to take the money. I knew if I keep this
wallet, the owner of the wallet would be extremely worried. Therefore, I
took it to the police station.
When I arrived at the police station, the police found a card in the
wallet. It had ‘Your Office’ and its address on the card. The police said,
‘You follow this address and find this man. Maybe he is the owner of this
wallet.’
So, I followed the address and found the ‘Your Office’. I arrived at the
office and said, ‘May I see Tony Wong?’ ‘I am Tony Wong. What Can I do
for you?’ a man replied. I found a wallet on the street. It has your name in
it. Is it yours? ‘He said, ‘Yes, it is mine. I was worried about it.’
At that time, my friend Sally came to me and said, ‘Hello,
Vicky! I know it is your birthday today. Happy Birthday!’
Tony Wong said, ‘Oh! Today is your birthday.’ And he
bought a chess from the nearby toy shop. He said, ‘This

I had a chance to visit an elderly home two years ago and till today I
can still remember it clearly.
It was New Year’s Day. It was quite cold and windy. I went to an elderly
home to visit the old people with my friends, Emma and Coco. The old
people were very happy because of our visit.
We played some games with the elderly. After that, we performed a
dance and sang songs to them. Coco did some magic. After our
performances, all the people clapped their hands loudly. However an old
woman looked unhappy. I asked her, ‘Why are you so unhappy?’ ‘Because I
have cancer but I have no money,’ she replied. I cried at that moment.
After two days, a nice rich man helped her. And she has recovered. She
was full of happiness and I was happy again.
I felt happy. Although I did not have money to help her. I did
something that made her feel happy. And I learnt that
helping others can help me to be more responsible and
happy.

Last Sunday, I went to the park to play with my friends. It was
wonderful. Suddenly, I saw an old man walking across the road. He

Suddenly, the old man’s bag dropped many oranges. “Oh no!” The
oranges were rolling down the street. The old man screamed loudly. I
ran to the old man as fast as a flash. Luckily, I had another bag. I
helped him to put the oranges into my bag. “Thank you!” The old man
said. “You’re welcome,” I said. We went to the old man’s house. He lived
in an old building. When I got inside the building, there’s no lift! I felt
very surprised.
At last, I helped the old man to carry his things and walked
upstairs to his home. His home was on the sixth floor. I was exhausted.
Finally I got to his home. I put down his things in his house. “Bye bye,” I
said. “Thanks a lot!” the old man replied. I discovered that helping
people makes us very happy. I will keep helping people!

One day after the recess break, we had to go back to the classroom to
attend class.
Halfway up the stairs, I saw a beautiful water bottle on the floor but
the owner didn’t write her name on the bottle. I looked at my watch and
the school bell was about to ring. I was anxious. I thought I would be late
for the English class if I brought the bottle to the school Administration
Office at that time. But if I didn’t bring it to the school Administration
Office, the owner couldn’t get it back. At last, I decided to take it back to
the school Administration Office.
On the way, I saw a little girl who was anxious to find something. ‘Is
this your bottle?’ I said slowly. ‘Yes, thank you!’ The girl said. She took it
back and ran fast to her classroom.
I felt tired but happy because I could make other people happy again. I

Last Sunday, it was a good day.
In the morning. My friend and I decided to go to Tsuen Wan shopping

We needed to cross the road. ‘Oh! We miss the bus. Let’s run!’ But
when we were crossing the road quickly, we saw an old lady who was
crossing the road too. Suddenly she fell down on the ground. We helped
her to stand up immediately. The old lady said, ‘Thank you very much. You
are good children.’ We were happy about that. Although we missed the bus,
but we were happy, that the woman didn’t get hurt. When we were on the
bus, I saw a lady with a baby standing. They looked exhausted, so I gave up
my seat to them. She said, ‘Thank you. You are a good girl.’
From the above experiences, I found happiness after helping others.
Therefore, I will try to care more about others and offer a helping hand.

Last Tuesday, it was English exam at school. Before the English exam,
I studied my work seriously. I felt very nervous because this was the last
English exam in the first term. I must do my best.
After a while, I heard my friend James shouting, ‘My goodness! I
forgot to bring my rubber to school!’ He asked a few classmates to borrow
one from them, but each of them only had one rubber. They couldn’t lend it
to him. He was so disappointed and upset.
When I saw him getting back to his seat sadly, I asked him, ‘Do you
need my help?’ He answered, ‘Of course! I need a rubber so much!’ I said, ‘I
only have a rubber but I have a good idea. I can use my ruler to cut the
rubber into two pieces. In this way, I can lend one rubber to you. We both
can use the rubber in the English exam.’ He said gratefully, ‘This is a great
idea. Thank you so much for your help, Herbert.’
In the end, I learned when some people need our help,
we should offer generous help to them.

My neighbour is a lonely old woman. She doesn’t have a family or a
husband. I think she is very upset everyday because no one talks to her.
Before the Chinese New Year, my brother and I decided to visit the
old woman. We bought some fruit for her. The old woman let us come into
her house but she sat silently on the chair. She didn’t look at us. My
brother said, ‘Hello! We are your neighbors. Nice to meet you!’ She didn’t
answer us. She kept looking at a box when my brother asked her.
We were very curious about the box. I asked her, ‘Can I open it?’ She
nodded. We were very surprised as soon as we opened the box. There was
a sick dog. It was very weak. My brother ran to ask our mum to take it to
the vet. My mum came and she took the dog to the vet as fast as she could.
I comforted the old woman.
Luckily, the dog was fine. We were all relieved. Since then, we
started to look after the dog. Sometimes we tell some jokes to the old
woman. The old woman always smiles and laughs. We also help
her with the housework. We even play with her dog every weekend.
C
At Chinese New Year Eve, we invited her to have a reunion dinner.
When she came to our home, she gave us a turnip cake. She taught us
how to make a turnip cake. We failed many times but ‘Failure is the
mother of success.’ Finally, we made a turnip cake.
I think that helping people is the greatest thing to do. I hope
more people will help the lonely old people.

I always think that helping people is the best gift for me in my life.
Although I won’t receive anything, I really enjoy it.
One day I was looking at some photos on my phone. I saw a photo of
an old woman and me. The memory of that floated to my mind.
On that day, I had to perform in a concert. I was almost late.
On the way to the show, I saw an old woman fall down in the street. The
bus was coming to her but no one noticed. I put the music show aside and
ran to help the woman immediately. I saved her from the bus accident.
When I arrived at the music show, my band’s mate, Caleb, felt very
worried and asked, ‘Cynthia, why are you so late?’ I told him all the things
that had just happened. He felt very surprised and told the host about it.
The host told the audience about it and they clapped loudly. I felt very
proud.

In our community, Uncle Wong is the most helpful person. Every
time I meet him, he is protecting the environment.
Last Thursday afternoon, on my way home, I saw Uncle Wong holding a

pieces of advertising paper on this wall are too much. They are damaging
our city. There are a lot of tourists in Hong Kong every day. When
tourists see that, they will think that Hong Kong is a dirty city,’ Uncle Wong
said angrily while he was clearing the pieces of advertising paper. ‘Uncle

he ate quickly.
After that, I was so busy doing all the housework. The clothes were

I got wet because he splashed water at me but we were happy playing

I believe that a lot of people have helped people before, including me. I
have also done many ‘Good People Good Deeds’. There were some ‘Good People
Good Deeds’ which were unforgettable.
When I was in Primary Five, I went to a charity with my mother. The
charity keeper needed us to help poor people. We could have one hundred
dollars after running 1 km. While we were running, I said, ‘Can I give up
running because I feel tired?’ My mum said, ‘There are a lot of poor people in
the world. We need to help them. Some of them are even homeless.’ Then we
kept on running because we wanted to help poor people.
I remember that I also visited an elderly centre when I was in Primary
Six. I went there with my classmates. We chatted happily. We gave them
some gifts which included some cookies. They were made by us. We felt very
exhausted but happy.
Now, there are fewer people who like helping people. I hope they will do
more ‘Good People Good Deeds’ in the future.
