Experience, expertise and technology to optimize asset efficiencyIn virtually every trade, in every part of the world, industrial facilities are turning to outside experts to help them optimize efficiency of their processes and production assets to remain competitive in a global economy. SKF Reliability Systems brings a unique combination of expertise, services and tools to benefit your organization. With decades of consulting experience as well as 100 years of manufacturing experience and knowledge, SKF Asset Management Services provide a complete array of strategic and tactical asset management services to industrial customers worldwide.

New in 6.0: SKF Reliability Centered Maintenance (SRCM)SRCM is a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) process that requires less time and resources than traditional RCM programs. SRCM focuses on dominant failure modes and the significant effects of those failures, and then recommends actions to prevent their occurrence. Non-critical effects are also evaluated and cost-effective strategies are developed to address them.

Key componentsA key component of our success is the comprehensive Asset Management Support Tool (AMST) software that enables consultants, maintenance engineers, reliability engineers and managers to perform analyses such as:

• Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

• SKF Reliability Centered Maintenance (SRCM)

• Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

• Risk Based Inspections (RBI)

• Life Cycle Costing (LCC)

AMST is a modular solution that focuses on efficiently generating optimal maintenance concepts and validating, enhancing and managing existing concepts. Built on actual maintenance experience, the software supports control and decisions surrounding reliability, availability, cost optimization and effectiveness. Additionally, AMST integrates (S)RCM and RBI, generates optimized work packages and supports scenario analysis to determine how changes in procedure will impact life cycle costs. Collaborating with SKF means you get experience and expertise; proven methods; enabling technologies; measurement systems and ongoing support.

Planning of maintenance and inspection tasks creates a long-term schedule for Planned Maintenance Routines.

Risk-Based Inspection is an industry standard used to determine optimal inspection levels to meet regulatory requirements in a cost-effective manner.

Life Cycle Cost analysis allows management to compare a variety of maintenance engineering scenarios to determine the best return on investment.

For every module standard reports are available. Also custom made reports can be accessed via the tool.

Built on client needs – by professionals, for professionalsSKF offers services focused on optimal management of assets throughout the life cycle. Our integral maintenance management expertise has accumulated over many years and is systematically brought together in the Asset Management Support Tool framework – now available to our customers. Some examples of customer successes include:

AMST helps Huntsman Holland B.V. to optimize their maintenance and inspection strategyHuntsman is one of the world’s leading producers for Polyurethanes and delivers a variety of products to global industries including chemicals, automotive, aviation, textiles, footwear, paints, coatings and packaging. Huntsman Holland B.V., situated in Rozenburg, The Netherlands has two MDI (a key ingredient for Polyurethanes) production plants, a Polyol production plant and two blending plants.

The Maintenance Integrity Team, as part of the Huntsman Maintenance Department, has the responsibility to develop and improve the maintenance and inspection plans for the various production plants. These plans have to guarantee a safe environment and maximum production capacity.

Since 2001 SKF Asset Management Services (Delta Consult) has delivered support and consulting to optimize and improve the asset maintenance plans of Huntsman’s production plants.

The program began with the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Risk Based Inspection (RBI) analysis for the MDI-1 production plant. SKF Asset Management Support Tool (AMST), is used to store the huge amount of data and to perform the analysis in an efficient and structured way. AMST enables Huntsman to determine the most effective maintenance/inspection tasks for assets, based on the possible risks. AMST allows the team to define a customized criticality matrix, so Huntsman’s high values on safety, health and environment can be used to define the possible risks and the necessary preventive actions. Finally the combined maintenance and inspection tasks are grouped into work packages that are imported into the CMMS system. At MDI-1 we have further improved the integrity of the plant and reduced the shutdown frequency. Based on these successes, the program was expanded to start analyzing the asset maintenance plans of the other production plants with the help of AMST. Currently Huntsman has a team of maintenance engineers, material engineers and inspectors working with the AMST in a multi-user environment.

Maintenance Integrity Team,Huntsman Holland B.V.

Certified MethodologyIn reaction to the changed regulations for pressure equipment in Europe and The Netherlands and the increased responsibilities for asset owners for the integrity of their assets, SKF Asset Management Services (Delta Consult) developed a combined RCM and RBI methodology. This new methodology is fully integrated in AMST and enables consultants and customers to determine the optimal inspection intervals.

With the help of Huntsman Holland (as one of the first customers applying the new methodology) SKF succeeded in certifying the methodology according to Dutch law. This will enable companies to determine new inspection intervals based on risk evaluation and historic inspection results. If the organizational requirements are also implemented, these new inspection intervals can be used instead of the existing legal inspection intervals. This could result in improved integrity of the installation and a decrease of the direct maintenance costs for plant downtime.

Huntsman Holland B.V., Rozenburg, The Netherlands.
