PRE-CANA DAY
Saturday, February 28th St. Charles Parish Activity Center
Engaged couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage are
welcome to participate. Please stop in the Parish Office by
Sunday, February 22nd to register and pick up information about
the day’s schedule.
St. Charles Borromeo Church February 15, 2015
Lent 2015 kicks off this February 18,
Ash Wednesday. Ashes will be blessed and
distributed at the five Masses scheduled on that
day: 7:00, 8:30, 10:00am and at 4:00 and 7:00pm.
You will find a complete schedule of Lent,
Holy Week, and Easter liturgies and activities in this bulletin. In
particular, I call your attention to our 2015 Lenten Parish
Retreat scheduled for Monday through Wednesday, March 2, 3,
and 4, each evening at 7:30pm in church (immediately following
the 7:00pm daily Mass.) This year’s Retreat will focus on the
meaning of the Triduum, the Sacred Three Days of Holy Week.
I also remind you that we will hear confessions after all
Lenten weekend Masses (except the 5:30pm Mass).
Furthermore, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confessions) will
be celebrated from 5:00 till 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 4, in
every church in our Diocese.
And don’t forget our Lenten Friday Fish Fries, 4:00 till
7:00pm, in the Corrigan Gym!
St Charles Parish Council met last Thursday. For the
last few months, Council has been assessing our various parish
groups, ministries, and activities. To further their work, Parish
Council will meet with the various heads of each St Charles
group, ministry, and activity on Saturday, April 11, from
10:00am till 12:00Noon in the Lower Parish Hall. If you are the
president, chairperson, director, or coordinator of anything at
St Charles, please mark your calendar now for April 11 and
plan on attending. Thanks and more info as the Big Day, April
11, approaches.
“Sox in the Box”
Lent is also a time to emphasize the corporal works of
mercy. During Lent 2015, we will sponsor a “Sox in the Box”
Collection. The poor and homeless are always in need of sox.
The cold weather, snow, and wet sidewalks quickly soak through
old and worn shoes. Warm, dry pairs of sox are a welcome
blessing.
On the weekends of this Lent, or at any time during the
week, please leave your gift of new sox in the boxes in the church
and hall lobbies. When you visit the dollar stores, buy a few pair.
Check your dresser drawer at home for any extras. Men’s sox
are particularly needed. And “drop ‘em in the box” when you
come to Mass.
Our Girl Scout Cadet Troop 70443 is working with the
non-profit organization, Front Line Services, who care for the
homeless and the emotionally ill. Front Line will get your sox to
those most in need.
Women of the parish, their family and friends, are
invited to the Ladies Guild Day of Recollection this Monday,
February 16. There is no school that day, so the parking lots are
all yours! Come to 8:30am Mass, then proceed to the Lower Hall
for Breakfast. Bring a brown bag lunch. The day concludes with
Benediction at 2:30pm.
Father Ed Suszynski, associate pastor, (oops, that
should be “parochial vicar”) here at St Charles 2008-2012, will
direct the day’s activities and offer the reflections.
St Charles Finance Council will meet this Thursday,
February 19, at 7:45pm in the rectory dining room. Financial
statements will be provided beforehand.

“DO EVERYTHING
FOR THE GLORY OF GOD”
33 DAYS TO MORNING GLORY
MARIAN CONSECRATION
As the Season of Lent approaches, one way to
“Repent, and believe in the Gospel” is to turn away
from sinful habits and replace them with holy
habits. One holy habit to do is to consecrate
yourself to Jesus through Mary. The 33 Days to
Morning Glory books are available in the Parish
Office, at $5.00 a book, for you to begin this
consecration. The first parish-wide consecration
happens to fall during this year’s Season of Lent: The
Annunciation of the Lord, Wednesday, March 25th. The beginning
date for this Marian Consecration begins on Friday, February 20th
[The Friday After Ash Wednesday]. Come and join over twenty
fellow parishioners who have already pledged to participate in the
parish-wide consecration. Members of the Diocesan St. Padre Pio
Prayer Group are also taking time to consecrate themselves to
Jesus through Mary and will join us for our parish’s consecration.
For those who have chosen to consecrate themselves on
Wednesday, February 11th, Our Lady of Lourdes, your
consecration will take place after the 7:00pm Mass.
AVILA HOLY HOUR The Avilas will meet in prayer on Thursday, February 19th at
8:00am in the church chapel. Let us continue to pray for an
increase in religious vocations and for those men and women
living in the vowed and ordained way of life. For more
information, call Marilyn (440)886-1788..

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP CONFERENCE
March 21st, 2015 As men, life can be stressful and exhausting, numerous eyes look
to us to be “strong” and “wise” and the pressure of them and the
responsibilities of life can often feel like too much. Therefore,
I’d like to invite you and challenge you to give Christ and the
Church one full day of your life. Saturday March 21st, 2015 is
the Northeast Ohio Men’s Fellowship Conference. This
conference is meant to provide the context where Christ can
bring the true Father’s love and life into your heart and provide
that divine energy to love those whom you are close to. Please
do not shirk the responsibility to be a man that builds a culture of
life and love instead of one of ego and isolation. For more
information visit the website www.cmfneo.com. ~ Fr. Ryan
