Pastor’s Corner
My Dear Parishioners,
I hope that you are enjoying these beau-tiful summer months. This weekend marks the first anniversary of my installation here as pas-tor of Our Lady of the Assumption. Last year on July 22nd, Bishop McIntyre formally installed me as your pastor and I have fond memories of that Mass as well as the warm reception that followed afterwards in Assumption Hall. Time really flies, but it is in moments like this that I simply take the opportunity to say how grateful I am to be your pastor and how grateful I am for your kindness and support throughout the past year. I look forward to serving you as pas-tor in the years ahead and working with you so that together we can build a strong and faith- filled parish community.
At this time of year, our thoughts are on our upcoming Italian Festival which will be held on August 12th. Please plan on being there and bring a friend! As a reminder, leading up to this big day, we will celebrate a Triduum of Prayer on August 8th, 9th and 10th. Fr. Anthony Hangholt from St. Philip Neri Parish in Lafayette Hill, PA will be our guest homilist for these days of pray-er and adoration. Afterwards, food and enter-tainment will be offered in the piazza. We hope to see you there as well. You may have also noticed that in the vestibule of the church, the thermometer is back! Our fund-raising goal this year (as last year) is set at $5,000. As of this writing we have raised $2,370; that is 47.4% of our goal. If you haven’t made a donation yet, we invite you to do so!
As you can see, preliminary work on our parking lot has been done and now we are pre-paring for the main work of repairing and resur-facing our lot. We plan on starting this work on Monday, June 23rd. Therefore, during this com-ing week, the parking lot will not be available. We thank you for your flexibility and patience during this time of repair work and we will do our best to keep you updated on our progress as we go along.
I thank you again for your prayers, good works and financial support that make our par-ish alive and strong. May God bless you and your families! Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
