So What Is The Purpose Of Six Hats ?

•It’s a simple idea to ‘Put On’ or ‘Put Off’ a particular Hat.

•Six colors of Hats are for Six types of Thinking.

•Hats help to use parallel thinking rather than a single track thinking.

Six Colours….

•White: It’s like paper. Its for Data, Information without argument. Basic Data. It also covers listening, questioning and finding information that we don’t have.

•Red: Emotions, feelings is a valuable part of it. It gives full permission to put forward your feelings, emotions without any explanation.

•Black: Used most of the time. Its logical and prevents making silly mistakes. It’s the ‘logical negative’. Its superior.

Six Colours….

•Yellow: It’s the ‘logical positive’. It makes you look forward as well as backward to conclude that a certain thing was or will be the reason for benefit.

•Green: Energy, fertility, branches symbolizes it. It’s the creativity hat. It covers ideas, suggestions, alternatives etc. It makes time & space available for creative thinking.

•Blue: It deals with control. Here the subject of thinking isn’t looked into but the thinking itself. It looks about thinking of the thinking. It’s used to get conclusions.

Words By Edward DeBono

Thinking performance, drives business performance.

Most mistakes in business are mistakes in thinking. Decisions are poorly thought through.

Risk factors are overlooked. Faulty information is taken as fact.

Ideas are killed far too early. Benefits aren’t built into solutions — customers have no idea why they should embrace your new

efforts. Changes backfire.
