BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ADANI POWER AND KAWAI THERMAL POWER PROJECT

Adani, a conglomerate with a formidable presence in multiple businesses across the globe,

has entered the power sector to harbinger a ‘Power Full’ India, by generating 20,000 MW of

power by 2020. Comprehension of the criticality in meeting the power requirement and its

crucial role in ensuring the energy security of India, spurs us to build India’s largest and one

of the world top 5 single location thermal power plant in Mundra.

Along with thermal power generation, Adani power has made a paradigm shift by venturing

into Solar power generation in Gujarat. It is Adani’s endeavour to empower one and all with

clean, green power that is accessible and affordable for a faster and higher socio-economic

development. Achieving it with out-of-the-box thinking, pioneering operational procedures,

motivated team and a yen for trendsetting. Enthusiasm and energy has earned us

accomplishments that make the FIRST, FASTEST AND LARGEST power company in many

aspects.

Adani Power Limited has commissioned the first supercritical 660 MW unit in the country.

Mundra is also the WORLD’S FIRST supercritical technology project to have received ‘CLEAN

DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM (CDM) Project’ certification from United Nations Framework

Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Adani power has the FASTEST turnaround time of projects in the industry. Poised to be the

LARGEST private power generating company in India.

To ascertain a potent presence across the value chain within the industry, Adani has also

forayed into power transmission. The first power transmission project of 400KV Double

Circuit Transmission System from the Mundra plant to Dehgam (430 kms) has been realised

with two more in the implementation stage. Currently implementing nearly 1000 km long

high voltage DC double circuit line connecting Mundra power station to Northern India. This

is the first private sector HVDC transmission project in the country ensuring free flow of

power between Western India and the Northern Hinterland.

integration within the Adani group shall provide synergies to the power business and

catapult it to electrifying heights of success.

KAWAI THERMAL POWER PROJECT:

Adani Power Rajasthan Ltd (APRL), a wholly owned company of Adani Power Limited (APL),

has set up 2x660 (1320) MW Coal-based Supercritical Thermal Power Plant near Kawai

Village of Baran district in Rajasthan State

Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) have signed MoU with Energy Department, Government of

Rajasthan on 20th March, 2008 for developing a Thermal Power Project of 1320 MW

capacity near Kawai, District Baran, Rajasthan. For this purpose Adani Enterprises Limited

(AEL) has registered Adani Power Rajasthan Limited (APRL), as a subsidiary company to

Adani Power Limited (APL). The site is approximately 120 km from Kota and 40 Kms from

Baran.

The plant is covered in around 350 Ha. area. The possession of 350 Ha has been already

given to APRL by Govt. of Rajasthan. The coal requirement of the plant will be 5.6 MTPA.

(Imported coal from Indonesia and South Africa) will be transported to plant site by rail from

Mundra Port.

Water will be drawn from the Parwan Project which is located at a distance of about 15 km

from project site. Water will be brought to the site through a dedicated pipeline of about 15

km route length. Water allocation of 34 MCM has been confirmed by Water Resource

Department, Govt. of Rajasthan.

AMBIENT AIR QUALITY MONITORING

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Ambient Air Quality samples were collected by representative of M/s Team Institute of

Science and Technology using following instruments and analyzed at site laboratory:

RESPIRABLE DUST SAMPLER (RDS): Make: Envirotech; Model No. – PM 460BL with gaseous

Attachment for SOx, NOx. The instrument draws the air by the use of high flow rate blowers

at the nominal flow rate of 1.1 to 1.5 cub meter per minute. As the air passes through the

cyclone inside the RDS, coarse and Non-Respirable dust is separated from the air stream by

collected inside the sampling bottle. The size of this type of dust varies from 10 microns to

100 microns. On the other hand fine dust whose diameter is less than 10 microns is collected

on the filter paper. The air after passing through cyclone and filter paper is further passed

through Impingers filled with suitable absorption liquids (depending upon the kind of gas to

be monitored). The chemical analysis of these solutions then reveals the gaseous content of

air.

FINE PARTICULATE SAMPLER, Make: Envirotech; Model No APM 550. PM 2.5 is collected by

use of this instrument. In this type of Sampler, the System is so designed that particulate

matter of less than 2.5 micron is separated from coarse heavy particles and fine particles are

collected on a Membrane Filter. The duration of sampling is 24 hours and air flow rate is

maintained at 1m³/hr or 16.7 LPM.

Methodology of Analysis (Air):

Pollutants Method of Measurement

Sulphur dioxide (SO2), g/m3 Improved west and Geake method

Nitrogen Dioxide Jacob & Hochheiser Modified

Community Health

People are not aware about healthy sanitation practices in the rural areas. They generally

do not use safe water, food & care less about cleanness. Because of that a large part of

their income goes as expenditure during illness. If people will make habit of using safe

water, food & start cleaning the surroundings of their niche most of the diseases can be

controlled very easily. Looking in to the severity of the issue in the villages realizing the

fact that villages are declared as Nirmal on paper, Adani Foundation started spreading

awareness on Sanitation and Health.

TEAM ENVIRONMENT

INTRODUCTION

APRL-KAWAI

• “World Environment Day”, an event recognized by the ‘United Nation

Environment Program’ (UNEP), and this year's theme is "Think. Eat.

Save".

• Think-Eat-Save is an anti food waste and food loss campaign that

encourage us to reduce our food print.

• Wasting food makes no sense whatsoever. It’s not just the money

that goes waste but all the energy, land, water, fertilizers and other

inputs needed to grow and distribute that food in the first place.

This means that all the resources used to produce this food are

wasted as well.

• 3rd consecutive year, Adani Power Rajasthan Limited – Kawai’ marks

this occasion with full Enthusiasm, Thrill and Commitment.
