Site Store Pro™ Introduction

Site Store Pro™ is a full-featured ecommerce application that includes a comprehensive range

of online store functions and advanced merchandizing features.

Site Store Pro™ provides website owners, designers and developers the freedom to use their

existing website design with a powerful and easy-to-use shopping cart.

Site Store Pro™ was created to work with virtually any website design and is not a traditional

“template” ecommerce system that sacrifices site appearance for ecommerce functionality.

Site Store Pro™ is ecommerce without compromise!

The Site Store Pro™ ecommerce application contains:

The Store-Front Files

The Site Store Pro PHP storefront files , which include the main store page, product search & results, item details, shopping cart

display , customer registration, order checkout and the “My Account” area, are built with a design-friendly combination of

dynamic –data driven content, CSS formatting, and Dreamweaver Template updatability. Design-specific elements such as page

layout and formatting are not restricted when applying an existing website design to the Site Store Pro storefront files.

The Web-Based Administration System

The Site Store Pro ecommerce features such as products configuration, customers and orders management , payment

providers, shipping preferences, emails and discounts are controlled through the Site Store Pro web-based admin system.

The MySQL Database

Site Store Pro PHP is “powered” by a MySQL back-end database. In order to run Site Store Pro, the Site Store Pro database must

be setup on your webhost’s or development system’s MYSQL. The Site Store Pro database stores all of the categories, product

information, customer data, order history, store configuration settings and usage stats. “Invisible” include files and standard

Dreamweaver generated recordsets that are attached to the front-end files and web-based admin system link the data stored

in the MYSQL database tables to the PHP files.

System Requirements

The following are the minimum requirements to run Site Store Pro™.

Website Hosting (ISP) Requirements:

PHP 5.2 Or Higher.

MySQL 5.1 Or Higher.

cURL enabled in PHP.

PHP mail or access to SMTP mail server for outgoing store emails.

GD2 or ImageMagic enabled in PHP For Automatic Product Thumbnail Creation.

Min 60 MB Space Available For Store Files Installation.

Min 30 MB (100 MB Recommended) Available For MySQL Database.

Desktop Development:

Adobe Dreamweaver MX, 2004, 8, 8.02, CS3, CS4 or CS5 installed on local machine. (Optional) *

Dreamweaver is not required but it is recommended. Dreamweaver users will be able to easily change

the default (sample) store page(s) design by simply editing the .dwt files. The design integration

process with Dreamweaver is much more efficient than editing the ecommerce pages individually

with other WYSIWYG HTML editors.

Website Hosting Questions?

If you are unsure that your current website hosting account supports Site Store Pro or would

like advice on a hosting plan prior to setting up an account, please email

[email protected] or call (800) 974-6493 for assistance.

SiteStorePro.com does not recommend any specific webhosting company for the Site Store Pro

ecommerce application. However, we can inform you if your current or desired webhost is

compatible and what specific plan would be best suited for running Site Store Pro.

Extract The Folders From The Zip File To A Directory On Your Local Computer

Using either the built-in zip file utility in Windows XP or Vista or a third-party program such as WinZip,

extract all the files to a folder on your local computer from the SiteStorePro_XXXXX_Version.zip file that

was downloaded in the previous step. (XXXXX = Release Number: Version = Trial, PayPal, Enterprise or

Developer)

TRIAL VERSION INSTALLATION

Below is a similar screenshot of what the Site Store Pro folders will look like if you have extracted the

folders from the zip file to a directory on your C: drive called “My Store”.

Folders In the Site Store Pro TRIAL VERSION Installation Include:

Documents: Installation & Design Integration Assistance PDFs

MySQL_Database: The database installation scripts. (See The Section Titled ‘ Setup The Site Store Pro MySQL Database)

Trial_Version_New_Installation: This folder contains the complete sample store and all the Site Store Pro shopping cart engine files and web-based admin system files. These are the files that will be modified to integrate your website design into the shopping cart system and UPLOADED to your webserver (hosting account).

Upgrade: This folder contains two sub-folders that will allow you to upgrade your current trial version of Site Store Pro to the most recent release or upgrade just the latest files updated since the last release trial version release. If the folder is empty, there is not upgrade available for the downloaded release.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you have already setup your Site Store Pro folder(s) and are UPGRADING from the TRIAL version OR a PREVIOUS version, please read the sections at the end of this document about upgrading. Failure to follow the proper upgrade procedures may result in loss of previous site design appearance.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you have already setup your Site Store Pro enabled online store (website) and

are upgrading from the trial version or upgrading a previous version, please read the upgrading sections

at the end of this document to prevent reverting the website to the default sample store design and

losing any design integration that has been applied to your online store (website).

Copy The Installation Files To Your Local System

When integration Site Store Pro with an existing website or modifying the included sample store to

create a new website, you will be editing HTML or Dreamweaver template files on your local system and

then uploading the changed files to your online webserver to preview and test.

You will need to copy the files (contents) inside the Trial_Version_New_Installation folder (trial users)

or the Full_Installation folder (paid users) to a directory on your local computer where you can edit files

with Dreamweaver or another HTML editor. (For detailed information on design integration, please

consult the Site Store Pro design integration guide.)

For this example, we copied the installation files into a directory called C:/MyStore/OnlineStore

If you will be upgrading a current website with Site Store Pro, you may copy the Site Store Pro

installation files into the existing website design folder on your computer instead. However, please take

caution not to overwrite any files with the same name that are already located in your current website

design folder. (Examples: default.php, about.php, contact.php…)

If you will be using your current home page, about us page, contact us page, etc. you DO NOT have to

copy the following “root” files to your EXISTING website folder on your local system:

/default.php

/about.php

/testimonials.php

/terms.php

/privacy.php

/customer_service.php

/contact.php

/faqs.php

/faqs_search.php

/faqs_view.php

/news.php

NOTE: If you are installing Site Store Pro on a live operating website, we recommend copying the Site

Store Pro files into a design SUBDIRECTORY such as /teststore/ instead of the site root to avoid file

conflicts when integration your design into the sample store. This will also allow you to preview and test

your integration without affecting your current website.

After completing the design integration and content additions, you can then simply copy the files from

the subdirectory to the root directory when you are ready to replace the existing website with the new

Site Store Pro enabled store (website).

Setup A Dreamweaver Site Definition

If you will be using Dreamweaver to modify the sample store design to match your existing website

design, we HIGHLY recommend setting up a new DREAMWEAVER SITE DEFINITION instead of clicking on

the files and editing them directly “outside” of Dreamweaver.

If you do not know how to setup a new Site Definition in Dreamweaver, please consult the

Dreamweaver help system for detailed instructions. Note: If you are upgrading an existing website with

Site Store Pro and have already setup a Site Definition in Dreamweaver, you may skip this step.

Setup the Site Store Pro MYSQL database

In order to run the Site Store Pro shopping cart on your website, the Site Store Pro database must be

setup on your webhost’s or development system’s MySQL by “executing” the Site Store Pro SQL

installation script.

A database must already be setup on your MySQL prior to executing the Site Store Pro SQL

install script. Setting up a new database on a hosting account is usually done through the

website hosting control panel or by requesting a new MYSQL database setup from your hosting

company’s support department. Once the database is setup on the MYSQL, you can connect to it

using Microsoft SQL Management Studio or another SQL Manager tool.

The database required to run Site Store Pro is installed by executing EITHER one of the following SQL

scripts to your MySQL database using a SQL Query tool such as NavaCAT or an web-based query tools

and MySQL managers such as phpMYadmin.

SSPRO_MYSQL_DEMO_STORE.sql

SSPRO_MYSQL_CLEAN_INSTALL.sql

You only need to execute ONE (1) of the included SQL scripts.

Executing the SSPRO_MYSQL_DEMO_STORE.sql script file will install the sample categories and

products.

Executing the SSPRO_MYSQL_CLEAN_INSTALL.sql script file will only install the required tables

and data to run Site Store Pro WITHOUT any sample products.

Executing the SQL script requires access to the previously setup MYSQL database via an online MySQL

Query tool or remote MySQL Management software. The Query interface used to install the Site Store

Pro tables to your MySQL database will be determined by the version of MYSQL you are running and if

the server supports remote connections or requires a web-based MySQL Query Manager to execute the

installation script file. Note: Some webhosting companies will install the Site Store Pro tables into your

MYSQL database free of charge if you provide them with .sql script file. If you need assistance installing

the Site Store Pro database, please contact [email protected].

Edit The MYSQL (DATABASE) Connection File

In order to connect the Site Store Pro online store files to your MYSQL database, the SiteStoreProDB.php

file must be edited to include your specific MYSQL database login information.

The SiteStoreProDB.php file is located in the ‘Connections’ folder in your installation directory.

Using Dreamweaver (Code View), a text file editor or your preferred HTML editor, you must replace the

default SQL connection string values with the login information for your specific MYSQL database.

The connection string will have the following info:

<?php

# FileName="Connection_php_mysql.htm"

# Type="MYSQL"

# HTTP="true"

$hostname_SiteStoreProDB = "localhost";

$database_SiteStoreProDB = "database";

$username_SiteStoreProDB = "username";

$password_SiteStoreProDB = "password";

$SiteStoreProDB = mysql_pconnect($hostname_SiteStoreProDB, $username_SiteStoreProDB,

$password_SiteStoreProDB) or trigger_error(mysql_error(),E_USER_ERROR);

?>

You must replace the 4 values in red with your specific MySQL database login information.

$hostname_SiteStoreProDB = The servername or IP Address of your MYSQL

$database_SiteStoreProDB = The name of the database provided by your webhost or entered when setting up the database.

$username_SiteStoreProDB = The username provided by your webhost or entered when setting up the database

$password_SiteStoreProDB = The password provided by your webhost or entered when setting up the database

If you need assistance setting the correct MYSQL connection string for your Site Store Pro installation,

please email [email protected] or call (800) 974-6493 Ext 2.

FTP (Transfer) The Store And Admin Files To Your Webserver

Now that the database has been installed and the SiteStoreProDB.php connection string has been edited

to reflect your specific MYSQL information, you are now ready to transfer the Site Store Pro files to your

website.

Using the built-in FTP client in Dreamweaver or a third-party FTP program such as CuteFTP or WS_FTP,

transfer (copy) the files located in the ‘onlinestore’ folder over to your website. (FTP login information

will have to be entered into “Remote Server” connection information in order to connect to your

website’s FTP server.)

IMPORTANT: If you are transferring the Site Store Pro files to an existing “live”

website, be careful not to OVERWRITE any active files with the same name that

are already on your website . (Examples: store/default.php,

store/shopping_cart.php, myaccount/default.php, checkout/default.php…)

If you are installing Site Store Pro on a live site, we recommend transferring the Site Store Pro

files into a SUBDIRECTORY such as /teststore/ instead of the site root to avoid file conflicts.

After completing the design integration and content additions, you can then simply copy the

files from the subdirectory to the root directory when you are ready to replace the existing

website with the new Site Store Pro enabled store (website).

SETUP THE CHECKOUT URL (Continued)

The Checkout URL controls where the Site Store Pro application will look for the “Checkout “ AND “My

Account” areas on your Site Store Pro enabled online store.

When the website is “live”, the Checkout URL field will contain either your SSL URL (https://...) if you

will be collecting credit card payment information OR it will be the same as your Store URL if you will be

using PayPal or Google as your payment processor. (However, many Site Store Pro enabled sites use an

SSL certificate even if they will not be collecting payment information to protect the My Account login

information.) Note: Your webhost may include a “shared” SSL certificate which you can use as the

checkout URL value.

When setting up your initial Site Store Pro installation or when testing the trial version, you may not

have an SSL certificate available and/or may have installed the files into a subdirectory for testing.

In these situations, simply enter the same URL that was entered as the Store (Website) URL. The

Checkout URL can be changed when you receive your SSL certificate and/or if the site is copied from a

subdirectory to “live” status in the root folder. To proceed with the Checkout URL setup, enter a URL in

one of the following formats in the ‘Checkout And/Or Secure URL’ field:

Standard SSL: (Example) https://www.123abc456.com

Setup The Email (SMTP) Server Settings (Web-Based Admin)

Site Store Pro contains an advanced email system where customer registration, order confirmation

messages and other store-related emails are managed through a point-and-click system.

The Site Store Pro email system gives the store admin the power to completely configure store-related

emails without any custom programming.

The email server setup is located in the web-based admin under the EMAILS section.

The majority of installations will use the default PHP mail. However, some stores may require setting an

STMP server with or without STMP authentication to send out store generated email message.

Set The Upload Folder Permissions On The Webserver

The last step of the Site Store Pro install configuration is to set the upload permissions on your

webserver so that you will be able to upload content such as product images from the web-based admin

system.

The /store_content/ folder (and its subdirectories) are where all uploaded content for the online store

including product images, category images, header, etc. is saved (stored). The /store_content/ folder

must be given read/write permissions.

Most Linux hosting accounts will not require any permissions settings on the content folder.

However, if you are having issues getting content to upload from the admin, you will need set

the /store_content/ folder to "755" (CHMOD with Recursive). (Or set Read/Write Privileges to

the /store_content/ with propagate to child directories using your web hosting control panel)

Windows IIS 6 Hosting Acccounts (Servers) :You will need to set the permissions for the

IUSR_<machinename> to Read/Write/Delete (Modify) for the /store_content/ folder

Windows IIS 7 or Higher Servers : You will need to set the permission for the IUSR account to

Read/Write/Delete for the /store_content/ folder.

The permissions can usually be set in your hosting account control panel. Please contact your webhost

support if you cannot set the permission from your control panel. (Note: The permissions must be set on

the \store_content\folder to "propagate" or "inherit" to all subdirectories inside the \store_content\

folder. ) If you need assistance setting the folder permissions on your webserver, please call (800) 974-

6493 Ext 2 or email [email protected]

Upgrading the Trial Version To PAID (Licensed Version) Of Site Store Pro. When upgrading the trial version to the PayPal, Enterprise or Developer version, you do NOT need to

reinstall the entire application or database.

You simply have to replace the /estore_admin and /SiteStorePro directories with the folders of the

SAME NAME located in the ‘UPGRADE_From_Trial_LITE_VERSION’ directory in your full-version zip file.

Replacing ONLY the ‘estore_admin’ and ‘SiteStorePro’ upgrade files prevents the possibility of

overwriting design files that were changed after your original install date. IMPORTANT: DO NOT

EXTRACT THE FILES IN THE ‘FULL_INSTALL’ FOLDER TO YOUR LOCAL SYSTEM AGAIN OR YOU MAY

OVERWRITE ANY DESIGN CHANGES MADE TO THE SAMPLE STORE. ONLY EXTRACT THE FILES/FOLDERS

IN THE UPGRADE_FROM_TRIAL_LITE_VERSION.

After you have replaced the ‘checkout’, ‘estore_admin’ and ‘SiteStorePro’ folders with the files

contained in the ‘Upgrade_From_Trial_LITE_Version’ directory, upload those three folders from your

local design system to your online webhosting account. Then, login to your web-based admin with your

Master Login Account and click on Store Setup > Admin Options > Change Serial Number. Submit the

form shown below and your trial serial number (activation) will be cleared and you will then be

prompted to re-activate your Site Store Pro install.

After reactivating with your paid serial number, click on the ‘Setup’ button. (You will not need to create

a new Master Admin Account and can simply log back into the admin with your current admin account.)

Your trial version has now been upgraded to the full, paid version!

Upgrading To Newer TRIAL VERSION From A Previous Trial Version

When upgrading to a newer trial release version (example 2.0812 > 2.0903), you do NOT need

to reinstall the entire application or database.

You simply have to download the latest release from your account manager and then replace

the /estore_admin and /SiteStorePro directories with the folders of the SAME NAME located in

the ‘Update_OLD_Trial_To_Current_Trial’ folder in your new zip file.

Replacing ONLY the ‘estore_admin’ and ‘SiteStorePro’ folders prevents the possibility of

overwriting design files that were changed after your original install date.

Upgrade Steps:

Upgrading To A Newer PAID Version Of Site Store Pro

When upgrading to a newer release of Site Store Pro you do NOT need to reinstall the entire

application or database.

You simply have to download the latest release from your account manager and then replace

the /estore_admin and /SiteStorePro directories with the folders of the SAME NAME located in

the ‘UPGRADE_From_Trial_LITE_VERSION’ folder in your new zip file. (The upgrade from trial

process and upgrading to a new version is very similar)

Replacing ONLY the ‘estore_admin’ and ‘SiteStorePro’ folders prevents the possibility of

overwriting design files that were changed after your original install date.

Upgrade Steps:

Login to your account manager at https://www.sitestorepro.com/myaccount

Download the latest zip file from the ‘My Downloads’ section of your account home

page and save it to your local computer.

Open the zip file and extract (copy) ONLY the /SiteStorePro/ and /estore_admin/

folders to the location on your local system where you are working on the site.

(Overwrite the folders and folder contents of the same name on your local system).

Upload the new /sitestorepro/ and /estore_admin/ directories (folders and subfolders)

to your webhosting server to complete the upgrade.

Your installation has now been updated to the newest version!
