For the purposes of this application, the following terms will be used: 1. Lease site or lease area is the area of the proposed lease, including the proposed pens and associated mooring system and anchors. This area encompasses approximately 60.37 acres. 2. Mooring grid is the physical structure that will hold the pens in place. This system consists of two grid systems, each with 2 rows of 4 cages, which contain the 15 pens and waste barge. The grid lines are 50 by 50 meters and the grid will be submerged to a depth of 7 meters below the water surface. In total, the mooring grid encompasses approximately 9.88 acres. 3. The pens or pen area include the 15 pens and one waste barge. The pens encompass approximately 6.63 acres. Proposed lease corner coordinates are provided on Figure 1-2 and in the table below. 1.0 SITE LOCATION
1.1 Vicinity Map
Figure 1-1 shows the proposed lease boundary on a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) chart, including surrounding shorelands, navigational channels, surrounding state and federal public facilities, existing aquaculture leases, and other features of note. No existing aquaculture leases are located within 2000 feet, and no state or federal beaches, parks or docking facilities are located within 1000 feet.
1.2 Plan View
Figure 1-2 shows the lease area, depth contours derived from a multibeam bathymetric survey completed in the lease area and primary current directions based on Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected at the site. For the purposes of this application, the following terms will be used:
