INTRODUCTIONDistrict hospital is a secondary referral level responsible for a district containing a defined population. Its objective is to provide a comprehensive secondary health services to the people in the district at an acceptable level of quality and being responsive and sensitive to the needs of people. . The National Department of Health (DOH) has clearly stated that the district hospital is an integral part of the district health system.
Our site is located in Compostela, Cebu. Compostela is a third income class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. Compostela is part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area.
Our area is relatively flat slope, readily accessible by PUJ’s and has a large area approximately 1.3-1.5 ha.
SITE CRITERIA
THE SIZE OF THE SITE
The size must be large enough for all planned functional requirements to be met and for any expansion envisioned
LOCATION
It shall be located in a place where in it is readily accessible to the community. It should be with-in 15-30 min. travelling time. It should be grouped with other institutional facilities, such as religious, educational, tribal and market. It should also be free from dangers of flooding and therefore be sited at the lowest point of the district.
TOPOGRAPHY
It is a determinant of the distribution of form and space. A flat terrain in the easiest and least expensive to build on.
UTILITIES AVAILABLE
Electrical, water and communication lines should be available. If not, generators, deep wells and water pumps must be provided and radio communication lines
established. A hospital and other health facilities shall use on approved public water supply system whenever available. The water supply shall be potable, safe for drinking and adequate, and shall be brought into the building free of cross connections.
NATURAL FEATURES
Undeveloped site can have numerous natural feature that provide environmental aesthetic and recreational benefits that can enhance the building design.
POPULATION DENSITY
Determines the effectiveness of the location of the site of the district hospital.
